So at the end of January I made an appointment for my specific nail tech, the owner booked my appointment (i had made it the evening before) i came in and he comes to tell me "he had to leave, he had an emergency" i was frustrated but i understand, the owner should have called me and let me know. i was nice and headed out, two days ago i called to make another appointment with my nail tech, again the owner books me in and says "see you then" i just get here and they come up to me and say "sorry alex isn't here" im flabbergasted. this is the second time, why wouldn't you call me and just let me know. i drove all the way to the salon to get my nails done and this is the second time i had to turn around. not even just that i had to turn around, the owner was extremely rude about it. he kept telling me he didn't know when he was going to be coming back, i simply asked him why he would take my appointment then, he then mumbled about how the last time i came and left and got my nails done somewhere else and he didn't care about wasting time. I stayed calm and simply said, it would have been nice to know before I drove all the way over here, and that speaking to anybody in the rude tone he had wasn't called for especially a client of your salon. he kept making rude comments and speaking to me in a rude manner so i decided to take my hard earned money and time somewhere else. i showed up to the appointments i booked not once but twice and got shut down with rudeness, attitude and disrespect. if he treats clients who are paying him this way i can't imagine how he treats his employees. read more

I went to get a full set of acrylic nails here a few weeks back, they were 55$ for short plain nails. I have been learning about nails for school so I know what to look for and it was not this, when I left the nails had no structure and felt thin. Usally when I get my nails done I can ALWAYS take them off myself and these would not and when they started to it took my actual finger nail with it. I am here every 3-4 weeks for a manicure and pedicure. Everyone in the salon is great and the salon is immaculate. It is easy to book and the salon is lovely. They always have all of the tools sterilized and do everything from natural mani and pedis and acrylic nails to waxing. I trust them completely! read more

I stopped in on the spur of the moment to get a much-needed pedicure. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I only had to wait a few minutes. The atmosphere was great; I could tell that many of the customers were "regulars," which I felt made a positive statement on the quality of the service they had received in the past. Lisa was my technician. She did an amazing job. She was very thorough and took her time, providing the maximum amount of customer service. When I left, I told her she gave me the best pedicure I have ever had, and that's something, because I'm "no spring chicken!" Would have appreciated having the option to soak my feet while I waited for my pedicure, instead of just sitting in the pedicure chair waiting for a nail technician....makes the wait a bit more enjoyable at least. Also, if you're using a debit card, tell them what tip to include before they run it. They don't mention this, then are annoyed when they have to run the tip separately. I guess it perhaps hasn't occurred to them that other states/places run things differently, so tourists (which I was) may not be aware of this. Overall, a decent experience for a gel manicure and pedicure. Price was reasonable, at least compared with what I'm used to paying back home. read more

Don't go here. They are shady. The last couple years I have stopped in once a year during the summer. Each year, the condition of the place deteriorates (e.g.- ripped arm rests, dirty tables, etc.) To boot, the ventilation is really bad and if you have to wait, the chemical smell gets to you after a while. I went today, put my name down and then after a short wait was told to sit in the pedicure chair. When I reminded the tech I wanted a spa pedicure, which is on their menu and their sign in sheet, she told me "No" I couldn't get one and would have to wait another hour; I think she just didn't want to do it. So I got a regular pedi which was fine but I was disappointed. When i sat down for my manicure I asked the tech to make sure she painted the sides of my nails. She understood but then I had to remind her again when she was painting them because she missed spots. Finally, when I went to pay, I asked if they took Discover card. She said "No, you pay cash." 1) I know they take credit cards because other patrons were using them. 2) they have a credit card machine advisable at their front desk. All in all, terrible customer service. Don't waste your time. I plan on trying the new nail place in the Hannaford plaza next time. read more

We used Yelp to locate this salon while on vacation in Kennebunkport. The salon is located about 15 minutes away from Dock Square in Kennebunkport. There is plenty of free parking in front of the salon. I booked ahead by phone, and I was glad that I did, because the salon was busy. We were seated right away for pedicures first, and then did manicures at tables afterwards. Both of us were happy with the process and how our nails looked at the end. The cost was $38 each for a basic manicure and pedicure, and I thought the service compared favorably to my favorite salon at home that charges more. If I had one suggestion, it would be to turn off the TV, since no one was watching it, anyway. I would play music instead. read more

I gave this place one star because a star is required. I had my nails done here several times last summer because I am in the area for the summer. Paul did a good job each time, so I called on July 1 and made an appointment with him for July 3 at 10:00. I drove all the way from Wells Beach (25 mins with traffic) and walked in at 9:55. The first thing I noticed was that there was no air conditioning in this heat, and every seat was filled. Paul was working on a customer, but I figured he would finish up and then take me. That was not what happened. Another person came and sat down, and Paul started working on her! I approached and mentioned that my appointment was at 10 (it was 10:10 by then) and he said "you come later. I'm very busy." I said, "but I have an appointment and drove a long way." He didn't look at me, just said, "too busy." I didn't even know that kind of thing existed! Obviously I walked out. I was taken immediately at Creative Nails in Wells and will go there from now on. read more

Year round client that frequently (biweekly) had shellac manicures and shellac spa pedicures. Will not return again after giving way too many chances. Timeliness: Lost patience with the inability to honor appointment times, be honest with true wait times, and shifting technicians mid service to "get more people in". If you have a special occasion and make an appointment, don't believe that it will happen on time and everyone in your group will be accommodated together. If you make an appointment, and someone comes in before your appointment, even by a few minutes, they will take the additional client and make you wait even if you arrive on time. Quality: Quality of services is highly varied depending on technician. Owners wife incredibly sloppy with polish, and the length of the spa portion of pedicures varies by how many people they have waiting and if they want to rush you through the process. Atmosphere: The allowance of cell phones for calls, and the constant ringing of phones from customers is a huge distraction from any peace you might hope to experience. Advice: Honor your commitments or only provide walk in services. Create a no cell phone "for calls" and "put your phone on silent" policy. Retrain your staff for consistency so that every experience is uniform and the customer experiences consistent value. Update your hours and then stick to them - if you open at 10 on a Sunday and book appointments for opening, don't open 15 min early and make all your 10am appointments wait while you cram in additional people. THE best! Simply put. I've had eyebrow waxes, manicures, pedicures, acrylics, etc. done here and I have never been disappointed. They are all super friendly and their prices are reasonable. I am very particular about my acrylic nails and have used the same nail tech in my hometown for 9 yrs. So, when I broke a nail while on vacation I was hesitant to just drop in any salon. Due to the positive reviews of the French Nail Spa, I called ahead and they said they could see me as soon as I could get there. The technician was extremely good, suggesting I go ahead and do a full fill as well as the repair. She did a fabulous job, not heavy on the acrylic and very gentle. Took my daughter for mani pedis today at French Nails. Technician cut my daughter badly with the cuticle cutter. She could not stop the bleeding. Finally after 30 minutes the bleeding stopped. She also nicked her in a different nail. She was not apologetic. My manicure is still not dry 90 minutes after we returned home. This was a terrible place. We will not be returning. read more

I have been to this nail salon a couple times. I will not be going back for a couple reasons. First, it is not sanitary. The person who did my pedicure used a blade on my heals. In between feet she dropped the blade on the floor when not in use. I watched others doing pedicures and this is standard procedure. When the needed to use it again they picked it up off the bare floor. The basins aren't lined. The tops of lotion bottles are dirty. Second, the polish used on me was lumpy, thin and without shine. When done the person who did my pedicure asked me if I liked it and she commented that she thought it wasn't great. I said it was lumpy and there was no shine. She said I picked a bad color and she would do a third coat with a different color. She started doing the third coat and asked me what I thought. I said the nails were so bumpy because of the first 2 coats of the bad polish. She removed the polish off my toes and polished again quickly. At the end there was polish on my toes from drips. I was supposed to have a manicure also. I was going to a party that night (2 days ago). I decided against the manicure and left to go to CVS to buy remover to get the dripped polish off my toes. I also purchased polish and top coat and did my own fingernails. read more

The worst customer service! They messed up my Shellac pedicure, that cost an extra $10 over the regular pedi. It was hazy & wearing off the tips of my nails within a day. They would not refund my money. He said I was almost 1/2 way through the Shellac 14 day guarantee & they looked fine! I took my young adult son here recently for his first pedicure, and we both loved it. It is a very busy salon, with a long row of pedicure chairs, but we were at the end, so it didn't feel super frantic even though all the chairs were full. We were able to relax a bit, which I do like to do during a pedicure. The woman who had my son spent a very long time massaging his feet, which he really enjoyed, and did a great job trimming his nails and smoothing his very calloused foot pads. She even assisted my technician in giving me a more thorough smoothing than I have ever had. I have to say it was the best pedicure I've ever received, and my feet have thanked the spa for two weeks since! Because it was a first visit, I can't speak for any of the other employees, but the two we had were fabulous. read more

I have been coming here religiously for years now. The spa is clean, and the quality of the shellac manicures and pedicures are spectacular. Aside from the great outcome, my only complaint is how unprofessional some employees are. Not all, but some. Every time I go in, (I have experienced myself, but also have witnessed on many occasions) the technicians communicating the cost for the services to the customers, and as the customers are handing the technicians their credit/debit card, the technicians ask if customers can pay with cash instead. This, to me, is entirely inappropriate. To go on, when customers have replied kindly to say something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, I didn't carry cash with me today. My card is all I have" I have seen a select few of the employees roll their eyes at the customer. I am sure that as technicians, they rely on cash tips (because their credit/debit card machine does not allow for you to write a tip on any line to be charged additionally to your card) As a customer, I have been truly offended with some employees attitudes towards my form of payment. (Little do some employees know, we customers may be paying the large portion of our service with our credit/debit card, but have small bills in our wallets to tip afterwards - I am a customer in particular to speak to that, as that is what I do and have done in the past). In my general opinion, if as a business you wish for all of your customers to pay cash for their services to ensure that you are getting what you desire for payment, then make it a cash only spa. Do NOT accept credit/debit cards from your customers if you will be unprofessional and immature about their form of payment. A mediocre review due to consistent poor professionalism is not worth the damage it may cause to the business overtime. Be kind to your customers, and change the payment policy if what has been established is not sufficient. read more

Likewise, I have come to know the dedicated staff members who make visits to the salon so enjoyable. Each one always has a smile and treats their customer with care and respect. I used to go to French Nail Spa a couple times a year for manicures and they always did a great job. I hadn't been in about a year and decided to take my mother there today as a late Christmas present. The man who works there, who I think is one of the owners, ended up doing her nails. She wanted a regular manicure, but he kept pressuring her into getting shellac. After 10 minutes of his badgering, she reluctantly agreed. To be fair, he at least did a nice job on her nails. The woman I got I had never seen there before. I got a regular manicure and she didn't say one word to me the entire time. The manicure looked great... until she got to the top coat. My right hand looked fine, but she globbed the topcoat onto the nails on my left hand so carelessly that it made the polish look wrinkled and dented. When I went to put my hands under the UV light/fan, I noticed how bad it looked and asked her to try to fix it. All she did was put more topcoat on! Finally I said that I didn't think that was helping and asked her to redo my thumbnail at the very least. She seemed angry, but she quickly removed the polish and reapplied it (with no bottom coat, which she'd used on all my other nails). It looked better, but she still missed a lot of my nail with the topcoat and all my other nails on that hand look awful now. While she was "fixing" my nails, she didn't say anything or even ask if I was satisfied when she was done. After this experience, I will not be returning. read more
