This salon was close to where I was completing errands, so I ran in. At the end, I went to pay with my credit card. The machine was down so I was unable to use my credit card. I told the owner I could run home and get cash, or I could come back in 30 minutes when they supposedly would have the machine fixed. The woman insisted I get cash across the street. I told her I did not have my debit card, only my credit card. The woman wanted me to leave my phone or credit card or license card to ensure I would come back. I told her I will come back, I will leave my number and name, but I will come back, but I could not leave my license card because I needed it to drive, and I was not going to leave my credit card, I eventually had to have my husband Venmo the owner. The whole experience was awful and uncomfortable. The woman basically tried to hold me hostage. Will not be going back. read more

After going to school in Pittsburgh for 2 years, and finally staying in Pittsburgh for the summer, I decided it was time to find somewhere that I liked to get my nails done. I've tried various places around the Oakland/Shadyside/Squirrel Hill area, and I am so happy that I finally tried the NailSpa. I have been getting gel manicures about every 2 weeks since I have found it. Everyone is very professional and does a great job. I have had pedicures with Paige and Holly, and was incredibly impressed. I have had gel manis from BB and Paige and again was very impressed. I just started getting gel manicures here after not loving my previous nail place. I was able to walk in on a whim the first time and have since been making appointments a few days in advance. Both technicians I have had have been great. Gentle and thorough. They have a large color selection with some sheer options that I haven't found anywhere else. They also take their time and resultantly I've been getting almost three weeks out of my manicures. read more

The website says The Nailspa is a hidden gem and I couldn't agree more! I am new to the city on Pittsburgh and desperately needed my nails freshened. I was very impressed by the website and when I called I was able to get an appointment same day. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted as I walked in by the front desk staff member. She instructed me to pick out my polish and even helped me find a color I was looking for. Then she had me take a seat on the couch and told me it would be about 5 minutes, which, that's really all it was. ( I love when there is good communication in a spa.) The salon was exactly what I had expected from the website; very clean, crisp, stylish and relaxing. Then, BB told me to come back and my service began. BB is the owner and really knows what she is doing as far as business and nails. She is very kind and fun to talk to and I love my gel manicure. I loved everything about this place that I am going back for a pedicure next week and already scheduled my next manicure. I have had two toe nail polish changes here in the past month and had a great experience. There was a short period of time earlier this year and last that the owner was on partial maternity leave and hours were inconsistent and emails and phone calls for appointments were not returned. The owner has turned the business over (temporarily) to a couple who are doing a great job. Evening hours, very pleasant and professional service and great quality polish. Prices reasonable. This is a bright, attractive, very clean place. Feels more like a nice salon. No strong polish or remover smell. They have zoya brand polish, which is gentle on your nails and holds up well. Every time I stop there to get my nails done they are not open. It's extremely frustrating going somewhere multiple times and the doors are locked. Clearly the organization/communication at this place is Non existent. There are plenty of great places to get these services. Don't waste your time going to the nail spa only to realize no one is there to do the services. read more

Super convenient, close to easy parking at the library if the street parking is full and they are always attentive, on time, and very clean and relaxing. I've been coming to The Nail Spa for about two years now, and I really love it! It's clean and the staff is always friendly. The owners are a married couple and they are so sweet and treat you like a person, not just another customer. They offer drinks like tea and coffee, which is always a nice touch. They have a wide variety of colors for gel manicures, so no matter what you have in mind they should be able to accommodate you. The spa pedicures are AWESOME! It truly feels like a spa treatment, complete with masks for your feet and reflexology. My gel manicures never chip, and the only reason I get them done every few weeks is from my nails growing out. Once one of my nails got messed up the day after I had them done from a dog bite, and they fixed that nail for me for free. I've brought my mom and multiple of my friends here with me and everyone has loved it. You won't be disappointed with a treatment from The Nail Spa! :) read more

April gave me the most amazing relaxing pedicure and manicure I've ever had. the environment is clean and welcoming not to mention relaxing. after doing my nails April mentioned she also does hair services. so I came back the following week for a cut and color and of course it was amazing. the prices were very reasonable too. I have been going to Nailspa on Forbes for a year - for manis, pedis and brow waxing and I have never had anything but a stellar experience. I was bouncing around from spa to spa and I am so happy to have finally found the place for me. I am very picky about cleanliness and this place is very sanitary and pleasant to be in. No bad smells from acrylic nails or anything like that. The other thing that is important to me is that the staff is friendly and polite. Everyone I have encountered there tries really hard to make customers comfortable and relaxed. They all know my name and offer to bring me water, coffee, tea, etc. I can get an appointment when I need it usually and best of all, there is never a wait, because they are really good about keeping to schedule. My manicures last long if I am not cleaning or cooking. Of course if I garden or do something that is hard on them, they don't fare as well, but that is my fault for not wearing gloves. The best part is the drip dry drops. You can literally walk out without sitting under the dryer and not worry about smudging your nails as long as you are gentle with them. I think this place gives top shelf service for a moderate price. You can find cheaper, but it's worth a little more for a manicure where the person takes the time to do it right and sterilize the utensils properly. read more
