Incredibly nice interior. They really did an excellent job with the pace. The bar feels roomy, and it s a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was painful. Grilled calamari was gooey and tasteless, and the biscuit with the fried chicken I think was microwaved. Really unfortunate. Also, the skin on the fried chicken all fell off, and the skin never rendered. Floppy stretchy skin. Painful. Would recommend any other place nearby. read more

Brand new to our area, Anthony and John have opened 'The Narrows '. Thank you We ordered their melon gazpacho that was a lite fresh start and very delicious. The house burger was superb (pretzel roll was a little dense for my taste) but coupled with truffle fries and pickled cucumber mmm mmm mmm .My husband had their truffle mac and cheese which was to die for. Really pleased with our meal! Great table upstairs with river views and a warm ambiance. I respect any restaurant that takes their beer selection seriously. You can't go wrong with Sloop and Lawson's on tap and a good selection of Russian River bottles on hand. The VA oysters were great, better than our last batch at 3rd and Ferry's up the road in Easton. Our entrees were excellent, the ribeye was perfectly cooked and the duck confit ravioli with sunchokes were outstanding. The lemon ricotta donuts with coffee/cardamom ice cream were delicious, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream was our favorite. Overall, very pleased with every aspect of the menu, service, and ambiance. We'll be back soon! read more

My two sons and grandson decided to stop to eat at The Narrows, I ordered a hamburger and fries along with an Arnold Palmer. The burger was delicious, but the fries, omg the fries that came with the burger I wished that I had ordered and an additional plate of them. Anyway if you decide to stop, order the fires. read more

Such a beautiful setting --- on the outside. Inside, meh, all the charm of a diner. They spent most of their rehabbing money on paint and steel girders to prop the place up. Our table wobbled, and we had to prop it up also with some napkins. Bathrooms were clean. Portions of pretentious entrees at Sunday brunch were small, and overall all of our dishes were quite average taste-wise. Specialty drinks were very good however, as was the beer selection. The wines seem to have been chosen with care, usually a good sign that the food to go with them will be well crafted...but it was not to be. Our waitron, very friendly, but hard to track down at times, did not offer dessert or even coffee. Maybe we were too close to the end of brunch and she was told to hustle us out? Stop in for a drinkee, I'd advise, but if offered food, ask, "Oh, do you know a good place around here?" read more

I just had dinner here and this place rocks! First, the atmosphere is fantastic, right on the Delaware in this amazing old building restored w love. First we started w Delicious cocktails, and then my friends and I split a number of apps and dinner... there wasn't a dish we didn't like. The oysters Rockefeller and negamaki were my favorite apps, and the duck confit ravioli had the right combination of savory and a hint of sweet (a la pumpkin ravioli). We finished up w some port and these delicious warm donut holes accompanied by homemade coffee ice cream. Best thing about this restaurant is the sunset on the porch. Portions are small and drinks measured. Expensive and quality is iffy, inconsistent food. Service and staff are pleasant. Service was touch and go the condiments contained too much vinegar I might as well just had vinegar on the side then the pickles were straight up cucumbers/onions I made them taste like pickles by dipping them in the ketchup. The quality of food here is fantastic - extremely well cooked and creative twists on classic dishes. They also have a great rotating draft list for beer drinkers. The staff is super friendly and accommodating- we sat outside and had lovely views of the river at dusk. read more

Don't bother. I think I met the rudest bartender in my travels. Will say the food I was excellent but the service sucked. Never in my life for any reason until now did I not leave a tip. I originally planned on leaving something. As I sat there, after just receiving my check, with cash on the bar, I switched out the $40. I had there for $30. I do not believe she deserved the $.05 left in change. Throughout my time there I noticed someone who looked as if he was the owner. Place is beautiful inside. Food awful and expensive. I ordered pan seared halibut . I got a tiny piece of fish that was too salty and a tiny bit of apple / fennel salad for $39.00. My husband had the steak frites that looked inedible that cost $29.00. Fries were good. Couldn't find the oyster in the breaded oysters we ordered. Buttermilk biscuits were average. I'll start with the positive. The food was delicious, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The prices for what we received, however, are way out of wack. $17 for three quarter-sized scallops, $52 for surf and turf. The lobster tail and filet were portions you'd expect but it was served with diced potatoes, maitake mushrooms and asparagus. There were maybe 3 mushrooms and 3 cut up asparagus spears. Everything was ala carte, no bread etc. There was no ambiance; paper napkins; and we had to ask for water. There wasn't even a candle on the table. $10 for 3 oz of Chardonnay served in a stemless wine glass. Servers were in black t-shirts. To command these prices, I want a fine dining experience. read more

Shortly after The Narrows opened, I went there for dinner with my wife and a friend. The place had been completely renovated inside and was beautiful. However, that's where the "good" ended. We waited twenty minutes at the bar to be served. My wife and our friend ordered wine that was a very poor pour for $10. When we were seated at our table, out waitress was very lovely. I ordered the Mac and Cheese which was awful. Our friend ordered the short ribs and said they were good. We left feeling the experience was "OK" Last night my brother in law wanted to go there so thowe'd give it another try. Inattentive bartender. My wife was served a Chardonnay that had turned bad. Expensive. We were seated and our waitress was fine. The fried chicken was disgusting. The short ribs were nothing short of gruel. The doughnut desert was very good. Bottom line: NEVER going back. Anyone who could give this place a positive review is void of any culinary sense. read more

I was waiting for this place to open for a long time. I went here last weekend with a couple of friends. We were extremely happy when walking in, the atmosphere of the place is extremely nice, all the staff was very friendly. We had a couple of drinks at the bar before we had dinner and really liked how the bar did not feel crowded despite there being a lot of other people in the bar. Once we had our meal however was when our experience went downhill. None of us really enjoyed the meal that we were eating. Some of our meals did not seem cooked all of the ways and some of our sides tasted as if they had been cooked at least partially in a microwave. I probably will not be returning here, there are many other restaurants in the area that do what the Narrows want to do but better. read more

Great draft beer selection. Excellent and consistent food. The oysters are super fresh. Enjoyed them both raw and as Oysters Rockefeller. Beef Negimaki outstanding as is the Thai beef salad. Awesome new restaurant / bar for the area, in an absolutely stunning building. The old Indian inn has been updated and transformed into a fun new atmosphere. We went in our first time within 3 weeks of opening day and service, bar, and food were all really good. We went back a second time with the parents a couple weeks after that and things had only improved and gotten better. Menu has something for everyone and it's all cooked to perfection, bartenders are on point with their mixes and they have a deep craft beer menu and taps. Our service was prompt, professional, and friendly both times. I would highly recommend checking the narrows out soon before the reservation list gets out of control !!! read more

A much much better place compared to the previous one. You wouldn't be able to believe that this pleasant little restaurant or inn was in such a dire state before new management came in and fixed the whole thing up. It's a different experience. And one with a better menu and an assortment of alcohol. The food was great. Even a simple hamburger tasted rich and was cooked to the temperature requested. No complaints here. One unique thing about this cozy nook was the scenery. Especially as the sun sets over the Delaware River. A truly beautiful scene to behold. Tried this place a couple nights ago, we live in the area. The inside of the place is an awesome renovation; the food not so much. We had the mussels appetizer, the portion was rather stingy(maybe a dozen to 15 mussels), the broth had an odd "off" sort of burnt taste, and the pickled onions on top were a bizarre and unnecessary ingredient choice that did nothing to further the dish. We ordered dinner off the pub menu, I had the fried chicken and my GF had the burger and fries. The fried chicken was rubbery and overcooked, I bet it had been sitting a few hours under a heat lamp. The buttermilk biscuit that came with it was like chewing on a tire. The fried chicken's breading had no flavor whatsoever, must have been plain AP flour. It was the type of "bleh" meal I'd expect in a hospital or military cafeteria etc. The wife's burger was scorched black on the outside and cooked well done when requested medium rare. Overall pretty mediocre. The "pretzel bun" is a sad attempt at trendiness that should be dropped. The service is slow but very friendly and the prices are OK. But sadly the chef doesn't know how to season food properly and also struggles with basic cooking techniques like frying and grilling. It was below average enough to prompt me to write this review. Very impressed with the interior of the restaurant and we were so excited to give it a try. Our server, Megan, was excellent! She was very outgoing and attentive. However, we felt most of our food missed the mark. The mac and cheese was a little bland even though it sounded amazing on the menu. I had the tuna which I liked. My husband had the pork papperdelle pasta, and it was SO salty I couldn't take more than one bite of it (and I tend to like more salt than the normal diner). It was so overpowering that it was almost ridiculous. With some tweaks to their food preparation, this place could be really good. We'd give it another shot in a few more months. read more
