This was my first time here. I've seen it so many times driving past it but decided to stop in for a late lunch. The hostess and our waitress were super sweet. Just a nice friendly welcome goes a long way. The decor is of a typical tavern. I found it super cozy. I got a beer on tap and it was cold and crisp. For food, we got the nachos supreme with beef and a cheeseburger with onion rings. I really enjoyed myself and I would love to try more items next time. read more

GRAND [???] Reopening...Hmmm... Better part of ONE HOUR from seating to getting food. Awfully dark, exacerbated by several hanging bar lights out and a menu fine-printed on black, the walls/ ceiling painted brown. Not un-friendly staff, just obviously indifferent. ANNOYING background music. Had nachos 'supreme' [don't know what the 'supreme' part was]..presented somewhat nicely but MOSTLY just busted-up chips under skimpy 'toppings' sans guac, sour cream and salsa. Waitress three times on scavenger hunts to find my date's ketchup [burger then barely tepid]. Kinda pretty from the outside with lots of flower pot plantings that however didn't offset the FIVE [abandoned ??] grubby truck trailers in the parking lot- at least one sporting a HAZMAT placard...sooo appetizing; seemed like we were at a greasy spoon roadside truck stop in Appalachia...And we waited so patiently for the place to re-open...DISSAPOINTING...I suppose it's back to Spain Inn II and the Mountainview Chalet. read more

The Warrenside Tavern has been serving the residents and visitors of Stewartsville, New Jersey for decades and it has earned its spot within the community. The Warrenside Tavern has been open since 1924, which makes it (at least during this writing) one hundred years old and in that century, it is interesting how Stewartsville, New Jersey changed, as well as how much the world changed. In fact, 1924 was the year that J. Edgar Hoover was appointed the first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (better known as the FBI) and 1924 also marked the first year that the first Olympic Winter Games was held in France. The world was still recovering World War I and World War II was years away. Anyway, the Warrenside Tavern has a great ambiance and the staff is friendly and professional. One thing that i will say is that in a world where change is normal, the Warrenside Tavern brings back a lot of nostalgia. Very unfriendly environment. We've been there many times and The food is usually good, sometimes not. This place needs a serious facelift. They've done nothing to improve the interior in 10 years. Overpriced for what you get. Don't stay here til 8:30pm. They shut the kitchen and bar down and the entire staff, including the owner, sit at the bar and stare at you to make you VERY UNCOMFORTABLE til you leave. No longer a fun place to frequent. My wife and I hit this place up on a rainy Saturday. It is a little pricey for soup and sandwiches compared to some other places, but the food was very good and well worth the premium. Found this spot taking the backroads home from PA to NY. Doesn't look like much on the outside and I was actually apprehensive of what to expect inside.. this is a prime example of don't judge a book by it's cover. The inside was so damn cute and cozy and the food... the food was AMAZING!! Most of us had the lobster bisque which came in a crock with tons of chunks of lobster meat and a puff pastry top. Like damn! YES! Just what I needed!! Nacho app was massive and we could barely finish it. Burgers were plentiful, fries perfect, and the truffle garlic housemade chips made me want to cry tears of pure joy! The beers were dumb cheap on sunday during the football games-- $2 a draft! This has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. I always got the same thing and it was always reliable and consistent. My family went there last night on a whim. The place looks the same. First, we were handed paper menus that are reused. Lo and behold, no filet mignon. After my husband offered to pay for our drinks and leave, since that is the only reason we came, I tried to find something else on the menu. I settled on the New York Strip. Not impressed. It was extremely tough and not cooked the way that I asked. But we were hungry. So I ate the starch and the rest was thrown. My husband and kids enjoyed their meals and that's all that matters. On a side note, the waitress on 3/11 was fantastic. Very attentive, friendly and was aware enough to be mindful where to put items on the table with small, grabby hands. read more

This is an old school bar with an atmosphere of history and warmth. The staff were lovely and our food was very good. Do not come here for a 5 star dining experience and complain. Come here if you want good simple food that it served hot and fresh by a server who is friendly. I was at the tavern on 12/23. I specifically told the waitress I did not want a meal with meat. She even checked the soup for me but it was on chicken stock. I ordered a tuna club and again requested no meat other than the tuna. She brought it and I took a bite of the club and it had bacon on it. When she came over I said I asked you for no meat and she had nothing to say. They need better help who actually listen to a customer's order. read more

This is food Massacred with reckless abandon. Inedible. You're better off at Applebee's. the Waitress- a kindly heavyset older woman in her 70's, waiting on my date and I, there were less than 5 other tables seated in the restaurant. French Onion Soup and the stuffed mushrooms w creamed crab and a cheese melted over the top. The soup was way too seasoned and salty. And far too much cheese on top. And not hot. Waitress forgot it in the window. Couldn't really enjoy the broth. The Cheese on the mushrooms is too thick and stiff for such a delicate dish. And only took away from what would have been better without melted cheese on top. And greasy with oil/butter and mushy bread crumbs mush. The Prime Rib- supposed to be their specialty- ordered Medium Rare, came as an end cut after a very long wait. Was actually COLD and the edges so rubbery chewy I had to spit it out in a napkin (mind you I'm on a first date). End Cuts are wonderful but can't be MR. So why sell it as such? It had obviously been microwaved to temp, but then had "died in the (expiditing) window" to get cold, probably without a heat lamp on top- neglected by the waitress. Had to send it back- was too late for a NY strip- so got the chicken Picatta- again so tough and chewy overcooked chicken breast, and the sauce heavy with capers, salty, and out of balance w the garlic and wine. The pasta with shrimp and scallops- was in a light cream sauce, but under seasoned and the seafood WAY overcooked and chewy. Between the heavy handed burned out chef without taste buds nor basic culinary techniques and the lazy waitress who let it all die in the window, this place is doomed. Management should wake up and rehire both these positions. Never again. read more

2.25 Warrenside Tavern is a place I used to visit when I was at my old job, but even though the food may decent at times, the service could be improved. Once you enter Warrenside, you coming in to see that there are a good amount of tables and a good-sized bar to just hangout and order drinks. They have a couple drink specials at times that are good price. As for the food, it is average at best. The best food I've had here is the pizza, but unfortunately it is not anything too special. The burgers are average and one time I ordered a special dish which was their Swedish Meatballs over pasta. I received a plate of paste with four very small Swedish meatballs, which in my honest opinion covered less than 20% of the plate. Another issue is that the food would take a long time to come out at times. I have visited here many times and the service has been consistently slow. Even when it is not busy the food would take a while. This can be frustrating at times especially when I am here during my lunch break, as it would force me to take a longer lunch than I would wish for. Other than the food and slower service, if you are just coming here to drink, this place can satisfy your need. read more

Have been going to Warrenside Tavern since we first moved to the area back in 96 . The food was always good and fresh and the wait staff was always pleasant and very quick. Last week we went in for Lunch and it was less than stellar. I ordered a Guinness and it tasted flat and it wasn't poured correctly, the place had maybe four tables full but there didn't seem to be any urgency to wait on tables. The owners wife was at the bar with a puss on and on her cell phone. It use to be a brother and sister who owned the place. The sister was always pleasant and greated you with a smile. The owners wife not so much of a smile and welcoming attitude. We had a party of four and all ordered their burgers and fries the food was mediocre at best not a great flavor. I ordered a different draft beer a Sam Adams summer Al and it to was flat they need to clean their lines. A little disappointed with it all. read more

They do get busy sometimes but always fit us in somewhere. I've been going here for a very long time and always enjoy myself. I'm a fan. Been here several times and the food has been good, the service good and always an overall very nice experience. The bar is huge so always able to get a seat and have met and talked with some very interesting people. It's not a high end restaurant, in fact it feels a bit like a dive bar, yet they do a really nice job in the kitchen.
