    Bourbon cocktail

Greeted by JT our host, gave us detailed knowledgeable history of the restaurant & Inn. Cocktail was bourbon based, not sweet, just right. Appetizer of escargot was amazing with blue cheese & butternut squash to dip toast in, hmmm! Main was cooked to perfection, duck over bed of bay scallops risotto, mouth watering. Dessert sounded lovely but had a crisp, cool glass of Riesling to celebrate our adult son's birthday! Others had pasta with seafood which they loved as well. The music by bar was jazzy & added perfect touch to the evening. Thank you to our excellent, sweet server as well!

My husband and I came here for a quick drink and a bite to eat. This being my first time, I was really loving this place. Our bartender Josh was super friendly and knowledgeable. My food was so good. I'm still talking about it. We got the crab dip and the French onion soup. It's sooo good. I can't wait to come back and get some other stuff.

It's been years but great to be back. Sat outside loving the view. Services was attentive, especially for a weekend brunch. Be sure to make reservations! Great river views, amazing drinks and a surpassingly broad choice of brunch options. The bread serving is to die for! Would be 5 star but only 2 bathrooms and there was a long line.

Up at the tippy top corner of Northeastern Bucks County along the Delaware River sits the small Borough of Riegelsville. I always wanted to take my wife to the Riegelsville Inn for a meal and enjoy the beautiful view of the Riegelsville Free Bridge a wire rope suspension bridge opened in 1904 and designed by the John A. Roebling Company of Trenton (look up the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge in Cincinnati and of course the Brooklyn Bridge which was completed after his death). The inn, which sits in between the Delaware canal and the river, was built in 1838 by Benjamin Riegel, the founder of the town. We parked in a small parking lot on the side of the building and entered in the front door. The tin ceiling bar to the left looked like a great spot to enjoy a drink and a meal. We were seated on the right side back by the original kitchen (no longer in use for that purpose) which boasts a large cooking fireplace that helped keep the room toasty on a cold fall evening. The inn has all the character, craftsmanship and imperfections you would expect from a building that is almost 200 years old! Our server was a nice young man who kept up on us and made great recommendations. They offer bottled and sparking water as an upgrade or just regular tap for us cheap folks. Their drink menu featured over a dozen cocktails, several varieties of both red and white wines, a few sparkling wines and an average beer list. There were two food menus one for the pub and one dining dinner menu. They both had fantastic choices that made it hard to pick. For an appetizer I enjoyed a Shrimp Cocktail and my wife had a naked French Onion Soup that she absolutely loved. For our main entrees she had the Pork Chop 12-ounce pork rib chop, 135-degree sous vide, charbroiled to finish, grilled asparagus, garlic-infused honey drizzle at $34. She was over the moon with the pork chop. It was cooked perfectly, very juicy and absolutely delicious. She shared a bite and I agreed. I had the Ciderhouse Short Rib - apple cider braised boneless short rib, garlicky Brussels sprouts, mashed sweet potato, pumpkin spiced crispy onions at $38. The meat was tender and flaked off well, the sprouts which I normally dislike were great as was the mashed sweet potato. We were both happy with our choices. The bathrooms were located upstairs where you could find more dining areas. It's nice that they have preserved a lot of the buildings old features, but the building is very drafty and some areas could use a bit of TLC. Overall though this was a great stop for a night out with my wife and I would repeat when the weather is warmer and allows for a walk across the bridge!

I'll go with the consensus of a 3-star. There are many positives and sadly negatives. Let's start with the positives. A historic building, a warm feeling, friendly and accommodating staff, nice menu selections from both wine (white and reds) and food options (bar menu, dinner menu). Our platings were nice, portions were nice, especially the wine pours. However, it was in the food preparation that they fell short of a 4 or 5. We started off with Antigal Uno Malbec, (wife) and Conannon Carbernet, (myself), both excellent glasses with lovely legs and bold flavors. Of our appetizer we started with the french onion soup, was just okay, I was rather expecting more omph from the flavor and presentation making it the best or one of the best I've ever had. It was on the more common side across places we've ordered french onion soup. We both ordered off the bar menu, my wife, the Colonel (fried chicken), the mistake here was that my wife should have asked if "Kentucky Fried" version or lightly fried. This was the super high fry end of Kentucky Fried where the meet was dry and the fried breaking super crisp and that was served on a cold roll that touched the grill top for seconds by the one grill marking. Ruins a sandwich meal with the ingredients are warm but the roll or bread is cold. Even the sweet potato fries were on the limp side. I had ordered he Sour Joe, tips of filet mignon on sourdough, and instead of fries I asked for a green vegetable which they accommodated with grilled brocolli. While tasty, mine dish too was on the cooler side. Odd thing, we sat at 5pm and the dining room was nearly empty with one large table wrapping up. Otherwise not busy, hence why then was our meal prepared this way? Not sure. Had higher hopes and may try again if we pass through again.

Hmm I've been coming here for years with my dads. I'm just sad the menu died down a bit... but the food is still good. I think our servers name was Chris and he was great. Literally kept refilling my Shirley Temple even I kept knocking it over for some odd reason. I swear I wasn't drunk. Lol. Okay so for the food; Escargot: Not what I was expecting. It's different. However it still tasted great. I will say that I do miss the original buttery roasted escargot, but this new style was interesting and I kept digging in. 4/5 for me. Cast Iron Mac: Mehhh. No shade, it was okay. I just love that the pasta was cavatappi noodles. At least it was picture worthy. 3/5 Botticelli: Listen now!!! Granted there's only like 3 scallops, the aroma and flavor was spot on. I think this dish suits more for the summer time. The colors and presentation won me. 5/5 Tuddy: This was actually my boyfriends dish. I normally don't eat sandwiches at a restaurant but this was decent. 3.5/5 Elch: Solid Dish. The elk was cooked perfectly. The only thing that threw me off was the mashed parsnips. I wasn't expecting it to taste the way it did. Almost like creamy air if I may explain. 4/5 French Onion Soup: I will forever be a fan of their French Onion. Just give me all the cheese in the world on top of the soup! 4.5/5

We were out riding on the canal path and and stopped here for lunch. Very cute old Inn. We only had sandwiches as we had to ride back. I had the Cesar salad with chicken. The small was $17.00. They are pricey but all Inns are. They offer outdoor dining as well. They are located on the river. Everyone enjoyed their food. Sorry no food pictures. I was starving.

Looking across from the Riegelsville Inn. Awesome view.

I think it's a little tough to live up to the hype as the best restaurant in town - which is sometimes the result of the price point versus the quality of the offerings - but this is a noble contribution to the area. I came here for dinner last Saturday with my parents - they actually did eat at the Oyster House once or twice in the 90s, but this was everyone's debut at the Milford House. The entrance location is a little awkward; the door facing the road and the most obvious place to enter is not utilized by customers. You have to go around the building to enter through the backdoor, briefly through a more blue-collar bar area, and then into the rustic, more formal dining area. Huge points in their favor - despite the white tablecloths, they didn't even hesitate to let me in with my beach shorts and tank top (it was sweltering out, in my defense). Hunterdon County hospitality right there. To that end, our waitress was excellent. She was super personable/friendly, and I also don't recall a significant wait time for anything. Top-notch service, so at the very least this place is a recommend on that basis alone. Since I wasn't paying, I went for the Milford Old-Fashioned (I think $12ish), along with the Wild Boar Meatball app ($6) and the Crab Norfolk (about $42). I couldn't decide how I ultimately felt about this, but you can't really pre-game your dinner options here - every day, the Milford House posts their dinner menu on their Facebook page around noon. On one hand, I kind of love that the menu is different every day, but I wish you had a little more advance notice to make an educated dinner decision. I lean towards liking it, even though it meant I had to dust off my Facebook account as part of the process. (I moved to Instagram several years ago so I could look at dog pictures instead of political posts). I really liked the Old-Fashioned, and I'd say it's honestly one of the better ones I've had, likely because of the inclusion of brown sugar, which emphasizes the natural sweetness of the bourbon. I wasn't quite as crazy about the meatballs. Generally I'm massively into wild game, but while the meatballs were tender (my mother said it was because they were heavy on the breading), the meat itself was pretty dry and bland. Also personal palate preference-wise, I'm not crazy about crunchiness in meat, so the inclusion of chunks of onion wasn't one of my favorite decisions here. They weren't terrible by any means, but I doubt I'd order them again. For the size, I think $6 is a magnificent price point though. The Crab Norfolk was excellent. I honestly don't know if $42 for an entree like that is reasonable, but it was a solid serving and given that I've willingly paid $25 for a lobster roll with a fraction of the meat, I don't know that I have grounds to complain (also, as mentioned, not my money! My favorite kind of meal!). Crab always seems to get a rep for being the lower class sibling of lobster, but I think it's usually really tasty. The fresh, crisp pieces of bread it came with complemented the dish well, and it was a little reminiscent of a crab dip/bread setup, though obviously much more higher end. I'd definitely get that again. A meal at an establishment like that could easily set you back $100 or so, but I think it's definitely worth it from time to time. My hometown is unapologetically blue collar for the most part, but it's nice to get a little dollop of the finer things in life every now and then (especially when you can do so in your beach shorts).

First time I visited was for lunch. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I needed to order the Wild Scotch Egg (difficult to find). I also had the half portion of Fish and Chips. The Wild Scotch Egg consisted of hard boiled egg and sausage, which was panko fried, sitting on Guinness fondue and crisp arugula, topped with Parmesan crisps. I really enjoyed this. The outer breading was light and satisfyingly crispy, while the egg and sausage interior was expertly cooked, tender and well seasoned. Cheesy fondue sauce was rich and creamy. Parmesan crisp was a nice, tasty touch. The beer battered Fish and Chips were also yummy. Fish was succulent, perfectly flaky and flavorful, while the Steak Fries were wonderfully crunchy, full of true potato taste. I knew I needed to return in order to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding, one of my all time favorite desserts. This was served warm, with Earl Grey tea date sponge cake, paired with sweet sticky toffee sauce and clotted cream. So deliciously mouthwatering and decadent! Service was good. The waiter was warm and easy to talk with. Everything came out in a timely manner. Prices were quite reasonable. I'm glad I came across this place to have my fill of some British classics!
