I'm still waiting to receive a copy of the SOAP notes from my visit one week ago, having emailed about it several times. She has cared for my cat for many years, but since it's so hard to get an appointment and also the documentation needed to get reimbursed by my insurance, I'm going to try other practices. Wow where do I start? Maybe with their three different addresses listed across the internet that make it impossible to find. Inattentive nurses not ready to field any questions or describe in detail care process. Oh wait, maybe I should start with the vet that put my cat into cardiac arrest during a routine dental appointment that didn't tell me ANYTHING until end of their working hours? They performed CPR on her and brought her back to life, but there's no brownie points for that. After my cat was discharged, conflicting reports were given between vet and nurses as to her medical treatment, leaving me with time sensitive questions as to her immediate aftercare but as I was not told about this episode until shortly before closing, I found all attempts to contact either the vet or office (who's phone number doesn't have an answering machine) fruitless. There are few words that could describe my disdain for this practice and to those that consider their pets as their children, I would look elsewhere for medical care. She is a highly skilled surgeon and performs surgeries many other solo vets would refer out. As a certified behavior consultant who specializes in fear, aggression and separation anxiety, I refer with confidence many of my behavior clients and fearful animals who need compassionate and fear-free approach to their care. Dr. Loose is worth way more than she charges and truly cares about every patient. She often stays late, works on days off, takes in injured strays, sleeps at the hospital to give round the clock care. This is just who she is. She also started Small Bites Rescue and helps save medical cases from NYACC. It's a shame some clients don't appreciate the quality and care. Like many vets during Covid, she had to close her books to new patients. The rate at which new pets were being acquired far outpaced the rate of new vets graduating. Nationwide there's about 1 vet for every 1000 pets.. As a result, her and all vets were booked out far in advance and people had to wait to get appointments. Vets have one of the the highest suicide rates of any profession. Why? Because people get angry that sometimes vets can't save their animal. Or that quality care costs money. And vets are empaths. Dr. Loose is amazing and if you're lucky enough to be one of her patients, your animals will receive the best care possible. And when she can't provide this care, she has a network of specialists to refer to. If you take her guidance on how to care for your pet and spend the money for appropriate care, your pet will be better off. But, vets aren't miracle workers. They don't graduate with a magic wand to cure cancer. And they don't work for free. Simply the best! I feel so at ease absolutely knowing that Dr. Loose has my dog's best interest at heart and is so attentive to what she's doing. I had 3 different vets when I first got my dog and ended up sticking with her since I just genuinely trust her so much. I have a Cavalier King Charles - they are prone to many issues. She caught his heart murmur WAY before anyone else did, and is very knowledgeable about his syringomelia as sadly, one of her dogs has the same condition. My previous vet didnt even know what that condition was. Also my dog LOVES going to the vet as they are truly fear-free. Every other vet or vet specialist (cardio, emergency vet, etc) does not have you in the same room while they do the exam - and my dog is noticeably terrified and not at ease when they come back to me. Dr. Loose is different - I'm with my dog the entire exam, I feed him Cheeze Whiz while he gets his blood drawn/vaccines and he barely notices what is going on. He's happy and tail waggy - basically he's telling me through his body language that he trusts Dr. Loose, too. Another recent situation.. they went above and beyond to make sure my dog got his meds that I was running low on right before a long weekend.. and called to follow up to make sure he did. Dr. Loose is a cold hearted doctor who told us our dog has cancer with weeks to live through email. When trying to get the proper medicine that she said was immediate and ask further questions in real time she was not available. Luckily she gave us a call back at 8pm and said she doesn't work weekends (it being a Saturday) and proceeded to be extremely condescending almost as if we were inconveniencing her. Oh and the email we received stating our dog has weeks to live was on Saturday afternoon so how were we supposed to know it was her DAY OFF. The professional, sensitivity and compassionate level is LOW. We were warned she is a little stand-offish by a friend, but never expected this. We seriously appreciate this vet taking over our dog's care after a long history of neglect from our previous vet. They were able to assess and extract our dogs numerous bad teeth that were causing him so much pain. Our former vet gave us no indication this was a developing problem (and we brushed his teeth), but he was in so much pain, lost a ton of weight, stopped running and playing, so we went in search of second opinions. We had already learned our former vet missed so many things. When we came to Neighborhood Vet, Dr. Loose was so incredibly thorough, walking us through everything and reading our dog's entire 8 year chart. In late 2019 Dr. Loose came to my home and examined my then 15 yo cat. She pronounced that my cat had a heart murmur and needed several teeth extracted. I never followed through with her because the idea of having my cat's teeth pulled upset me and now I'm glad I didn't. Recently another vet examined my cat and said my cat had NO heart murmur and her teeth were in good shape for her age. Why would Dr. Loose suggest the cat had a heart murmur and needed teeth extractions when neither diagnosis was true? My only guess is money. She told me the extractions would cost around $700-800. My cat is old but according to the lab results, she's doing pretty well - no diabetes, no heart murmur and all her teeth! I'll never use Dr. Natalie Loose again. Horrible! read more

When I lived in Denver, I was totally spoiled. I had a great vet that showed a great deal of care for my Chi mix. Moving to Brooklyn several years ago meant going through the process of trying to find someone that could live up to the high standard set by the Dr. back home. I tried one clinic in Williamsburg for a few visits and was super underwhelmed. It felt like their greatest concern was cranking out as many 10 minute visits as possible, as quickly as possible, with as long of a wait as possible. Finally I kicked them to the curb and decided to try someone new. Meeting Dr. Loose was such a relief. Right away I noticed a huge difference. House calls? I was blown away. What better turf for what could otherwise be a stressful experience for your pet than your own home! Dr. Loose clearly cares a great deal about the animals she's with. She met Gus on the floor, took the time to let him get familiar with her, and was just generally caring. It felt like she was treating him with as much love as if he were one of her own. For the times that I've had to actually bring Gus in, the office has recently seen a tremendous overhaul and looks amazing. A year ago, I found a cat starving and very ill on the streets of Brooklyn. He had a huge hole on the roof of his mouth which was preventing him from eating, and was very infected. I took him to some vets in my neighborhood, all of whom told me to put him down immediately. Then I contacted Dr. Loose, and I'm so thankful. Her love of animals is clear in the dedication she showed him. She performed two surgeries to repair the problem and was incredibly persistent and engaged, despite the uncommon nature of the injury. To date, she continues to give him amazing care that is consistently above and beyond that which I've experienced with other vets. I know when my cat is with her, she will do everything possible to ensure his health and safety, which is good because now that he's here, I couldn't imagine my life without him. There are definitely some things about her practice that are unconventional - I've had to get up at 6 AM and drive my cat to her house so she can save time getting him, and other animals into surgery; sometimes I have to text her to remind her about lab results, or for info about prescriptions. But I'm more than ok with that. Given her limited resources (she's basically running a one-woman show here), the care she provides is exceptional, and I appreciate the vision she has for pet care. This is a blessing & she didn't give us any hassle about coming to Ridgewood, an area with zero local veterinarians I would trust with a stuffed animal much less a living creature. 3. She is wonderful with animals, even those who are skittish and nervous around strangers. We had her do a checkup on a stray cat we rescued and I didn't see any impatience or frustration toward the cat. We're planning to have her be our regular vet and get an exam for our other kitty soon. 4. She didn't strike me as a vet who's trying to squeeze out as much money from you as possible. The treatments we got for our cat were relevant to him as well as important. She also explained things when I had questions and we felt comfortable entrusting her with the care of our cats, unlike some vets where I read Yelp reviews of users' pets dying due to negligence. I can't see that happening under her watch. 5. The prices are also affordable and fair for this area. I feared the worst when we got the stray checked but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I cannot recommend Dr. Loose enough. We had to have our 16 year old Yellow Labrador Retriever put down yesterday. Dr. Loose was compassionate, professional and caring. She does her best to keep prices reasonable. Our dog was very much at ease during the whole procedure, on her own bed, with me. It's accurately called Peaceful Passage, which our whole family was thankful for. You may have to wait a couple weeks for an appt. but it's well worth it. I wish there were more vets like Dr. Loose. I can count on one hand the number of people in this world I would take a bullet for. Dr. Loose is one of them. I won't bore you with the details of my rescue kitty's trauma with other vets, or his years long battle with feline urinary tract disease. What I will say is that he was the most loving little man, who, when taken to other vets, would turn into a howling lion of a jungle cat psycho, belying his sweet true nature. We found Dr. Loose when he was about 5, and to my astonished delight, it was a complete dream. She's just... got it. The Thing. The illusive Animal Whisperer thing. Milo trusted her immediately, it was incredible. From surgery on his face (performed in home(!), to hand-holding & coaching when he had emergency obstructions and we had to go into the local animal ER, her care & concern were always incredibly pronounced. Then, just before he turned 12, the Big One finally came. We had to hospitalize him suddenly over the Thanksgiving holiday, & despite being out of town, Dr. Loose was in constant contact with us. Trying to save his life, we had to go with VERG (never again); they made multiple errors-- most especially, tried to pressure us into a $6,000+ surgery he wasn't actually a candidate for. We only know this because Dr. Loose was guiding & fighting for us every inch of the way-- thanks to her advanced training, especially in trauma/surgery, as well as her extensive experience, she was able to properly diagnose him, preventing us from spending thousands on something that wouldn't actually have helped. He did not respond to in-patient care at VERG-- the stress seemed to be making things worse. With Dr. Loose's guidance, we decided to make one last effort to nurse him back to health at home. She returned from holiday, & was immediately at our door. Her intellect in a situation like this is simply breathtaking. We looked at multiple potential trajectories of medication, & she helped us make decisions. Over the next week, we grappled with near-constant medication, in & out of the bathtub with him (incontinence), sleeping only a few hours at a time, & Dr. Loose coming by every day to titrate doses-- trying to keep him out of pain, but give him a fighting chance. I had adopted this little buddy when he was an abandoned kitten on the kill list of a terrible shelter, and we had been through so much together. I can't express enough what a part of my life/family our little dude was, & to see him suffering was excruciating. Dr. Loose was professional, calm, a bulwark in the storm. Nevertheless, we felt her care & compassion acutely. I will never forget my boyfriend returning from helping her bring equipment to the car, as I sat on the couch cradling poor Milo in my arms. He told me that as they had packed up, he had seen tears trickling down her cheek. She fought like hell for our guy: communication constant throughout the day despite her heavy case-load, and, ultimately, making major adjustments to her incredibly busy schedule, not only to help us try to save him, but ultimately to humanely put him to rest. I cannot express what a gift she gave us. We did it at home, holding him gently, wrapped in blankets on our laps in the soft winter light. The decision was one of the hardest of my life, but having her tell us that we were making the best possible choice for him, had made every conceivable medical effort, exhausted all options, and were saving him an incredibly painful ending - you simply cannot put a price on that kind of peace. Given all the effort she had put in, all the intelligence & training she brings to her work--I knew in my heart it was true. We did all we could. Though it was still so hard to let go. Through it all--the blinding tears, snot-nosed blubbering, the unbearable shadow of grief hanging over us and our home-- she was so compassionate. Gave us time. Most of all, through her skillful medication charting, his last few days were mostly pain-free, if hazy. Instead of scared on a cold hospital counter, he slipped blissfully away, mid-purr, surrounded by love in the only home he'd ever known, in the arms of his people. Dr. Loose is the Real Deal. She's got that magic combination of genuine, true-blue love for animals, exponentially compounded by sheer medical brilliance. Her work ethic is sterling, the stuff super-hero legends are made of. She's the veterinarian you hope for. She is busy, I will say that. Folks should be aware that she's got people pounding on her door with emergencies constantly, and I hope you will all be kind & gentle with her, because at any given moment she could have one or seven families going through a nightmare like ours. This place is a joke and a money grab. Do yourself and your pets a favor and go somewhere else. They charge $80 for the office visit alone. I came here because I had an ok experience getting a $10 rabies shot for my cat in the past. I needed help with my cat's stress marking, and after having her for years, and using over the counter solutions for years, knew it was something behavioral and wanted to see about getting her on medication. The vet did a bladder ultrasound and urine analysis without asking for permission first, or being transparent about the cost- which they charged another $55 for. They never sent me the results even though they said they'd be ready and emailed next day. In the end, she wrote it off as a litter box issue and gave me an over the counter cat probiotic. Total bill was almost $200. This was an enormous waste of time and money, the vet just showed poor care and incompetence, and I still have to take my animal to a different vet to fix this problem. read more

Woman was rude and super unhelpful over the phone, basically called me an idiot for asking for same day service. I know at home vets are new in New York, but this isn't the way to introduce this kind of convenience to a market that really needs it. Never calling again, even IF 3-4 weeks out. Not only is she an amazing vet who really takes the time to answer your questions and give you advice on how to proceed with caring for your pet in the future, but she works with you to give your pet the best care possible. Her communication with customers in terms of problems with your pet as well as scheduling issues, is excellent and the online portal is handy and easy to use.
