This is a top notch barber shop because of the barbers--Maribel & Bryan! Maribel is a proud Queer Hispanic woman who owns the shop and I swear she has the healing touch. As great a barber as she is, and she's in my top 5, she's an even greater person. Bryan is of Asian decent but can give a fade & a taper with the best of them. The pictures and video are Bryan's handiwork. I love how he uses clippers & a blade for the haircut and line-up. I don't trust too many people with my beard, but these two barbers are the exception. Highly disappointed when I recently took my nephew. His line up was crooked in the back and his front did not seem finished. There was no fade in the back, only slightly on the side even though we told the barber he wanted a 3 fade. We normally come here and are taken care of. Maybe new barbers in training. This is not regarding the "cut" service. Just the customer service itself. I took my two boys in for a hair cut. We walked in and there was one barber. He did not say anything or acknowledge our presence. To top it off there was a horror movie right when we came in, my 5 year instantly did not want a hair cut. I was willing to wait but the boys were not feeling the vibe. Then, when we were going to wait outside, due to the horror movie a young lady and young man were rushing in ( I think they worked there because it looks like they were running late from their lunch break so they just cut me off) while my five year old is rushing to get out. needless to say, the customer service was poor so I decided to take them somewhere else to get their hair cut. I have been here before and when the owners are there they are pretty nice. I have some advice though, maintain professionalism by having things that are family friendly on TV because you never know who is going to walk in or maybe things that everyone would feel comfortable watching. My boyfriend comes here to get his haircut and it always turns out really nice but at what cost? Well, literally the cost is pretty cheap at about $13 but time wise, he spends anywhere between 1 hour to an hour and 30 mins when nobody else is there and about 40 minutes in a chair. These people take FOREVER to do the most basic haircuts and fades. I don't understand. It's not like the clients are women, getting their hair dyed and styled, etc. I felt as though the barbers needed to pay more attention with getting the job done and less on their phones and TV. Horrible service !!! The owner maribel & the big girl got offended because my husband didn't want to get his hair cut from them. They began to harass him & threaten him to "call me out" & that "they ain't afraid to stand up to me". I wasn't even there. How disrespectful. What kind of adult women/owner say such things. My son does not like getting haircuts! And for some reason... he didn't even whine once with Tony as his barber. A haircut shouldn't be painful or irritating! If the barber knows how to use his tools properly "the haircut" should be relaxing and soothing! I recommend this barber to anyone! It was me and my sons first time here, and YES Tony did an awesome job! I myself know how to cut hair, and one thing I notice is that Tony goes by the shape of your head first... and then... by how he was taught in school! Unlike other barbershops, they let you know how many people are ahead of you and you don't have that constant anxiety of when you will be called. My top 2 recommended barbers are Maribel and Stevie. They have never messed up my hair once. if you come on a weekend you better make an appointment, if not forget about your haircut. $13 or $14 for a standard walk in. $20 for appointments. Got a pretty good cut here. The wait was minimal. What I didn't like tho was that I called while I was on my way and asked of they could save me a spot. I got there 15 min later, someone was in the baber's chair that I spoke with. So I did have to wait after all and they still charged me $20 for "making an appointment". Walk in are $12. So make sure not to call ahead of time. So I probably won't go back because of this. I got charged $8 for calling them but still had to wait? Not cool. But good haircut. Wow no longer a family friendly barber shop. It's been about 6 months since I've been able to get back here to get my haircut I've had to go to other places because of my work schedule. Today I had time to go completely different environment. I dropped both of my 2 teenage boys there in the A.M. when they opened and they just got home about 12pm. WTH? And there haircuts was not worth 17$ and 20$ I had to take them back to another barber who charges 10$ just to fix it. Even he was like "WOW, 20$ AND THIS IS IT" Damn I wish the other Alex was there. I found out the hard way that finding a good baber in Long Beach is a hit or miss. My ideal criteria for this shop was : 1. I wanted it close to my pad 2. I wanted it relatively inexpensive and 3 I wanted fast/ efficient service. I've been to small barbers on Willow, I've been as far as going to Floyd's but I've never been able to satisfy my standards till now. This place does not have the edge that Floyd's or other fancy shit you find on PCH but if you're looking for a straight up good cut for 10 BUX, this is your spot. I was worried for a second cuz the youngest dood did my high fade but hr def had skill. No joke, the same night I had that cut I got laid, TWICE. Great with kids. Moved in the neighborhood 1 year ago and this is by far the best place to get a haircut. I've had my haircut by all the barbers and I have no complaints.
