Wait what was that crawling on the floor...? Scheduling a cut is difficult based off my schedule and any barbers' schedule. Sometimes you feel like you gotta take a day off to match up with someone and when you do all you can do is hope for the best if its a new barber to you... We'll, I hoped for it and...it wasn't. I am not going to specifically point out this guy, but he would know a step up if he wants to do the right thing. Had an appointment at 11AM, got there about 10:50 about 11 the other barbers there said he was running late, he popped up at 11:20. I sit down after I was called over. He asked me what I wanted. I explained the sides and the back very basic low mid skin fade, do not want the crown to flare out and leave the top alone, do not touch the top or front(bangs)....I got a nod. As I was sitting there just scanning around, I was hearing a secondary sound and was trying to figure out where that was coming from, took me a bit... as I was scanning, outbthe corner of my eye I thought I saw something move, scanned some more. I did see something! What was that? I focused and realized it was hair balls, not deez either... It had obviously been a while since someone cleaned the floor and with all the empty space (going for the not quite moved in look), there were human hair balls moving around the floor with every breeze. Someone just grab a broom! C'mon.. Back to the cut. Out of nowhere he got haircut turrets, 10 minutes into it, "You said skin fade right?" "How long was it before?" I said yah, but was thinking, what do you mean before? Did he swap out with his twin while I was scanning and he didn't see me when I sat down...I mean he was standing behind the whole time and there is no mirrors on the opposite walls ‍...oh yah, BTW, great time to confirm after that par was already done! So, I think he is just balancing it out and maybe cleaning the tips on top. Next thing you know this blower hit the back of my head, felt like I was in one of those IG gag reels when you close your eye and the clean hose does some weird sh7t in a joke reel! Now I know how the hair balls were everywhere. Right after he does this weird sh7t, he runs a comb and i hear and feel "Clip!", what was that!? And where did that chunk of hair thay fell on my lap come from!?. Next, he sprays water and again going extra, combs my hair water dripping on my face...and he's done. Asks me how am I gonna pay and gave me a random number $47 ...why not $45 or $50...$47? Ok, he said thats how much he gets charge bonuses and app for payment. I said cash, so no app and maybe the price changes? Nope! $47 SMH, gave him $10 tip on top of that. BTW, the secondary noise I kept hearing, this dude wore both his airpods the whole time, probably some sort of youtube haircut training video, or maybe some court appointed discussion group for people that should not use scissors, not even those rounded ones from kindergarten. As for the chunk of hair that fell into my lap, I now have bangs that look like a 4 year old got ahold of the cat with some scissors to begin their haircut training for barber preschool... Look, I know other people who go there and they seem to have good experiences, but no one who goes to this guy has ever spoke up...I just happened to get lucky. Needless to say, I won't be back to this guy, possibly one of the others I hear good things about, but won't be taking any days off to schedule it! read more

Review Date: 8/16/24 Saturday at11am I booked an appointment with Angel, for the following day (Sunday) at 10am. I arrive to N.G. Barber Studio at 9:57am and sit to wait. Nat was there cutting hair; she greeted me and verified whether I was a walk-in or had an appointment. 10:05 am I verified that I hadn't been sent a cancellation email. 10:13am my phone notified me of a text - It was a text from Angel that had been sent at 09:32am that (Sunday) morning, apologizing for the late notice & inconvenience, and canceling with an offer to reschedule after 4pm. Unfortunately my phone didn't notify me of the text, when it was sent. Technology :-/. At 10:33am Angel officially cancelled the appointment through the appointment website. By that time, Nat had already offered to help me out if Angel wasn't able to make it. I let Angel know and took Nat up on her offer. She charged me as a walk-in due to the fact that I had late notice of the cancellation and had to wait a half hour for her to finish the cut she was doing. She saved the day for me. She didn't try to make anybody look bad, she squeezed me in before her 11am, and pulled off a nice cut for me. Personality was dope, too. I'll gladly go to her for more cuts. My issue was, I was notified 28 minutes before my appointment was supposed to happen. By that time I had already rearranged everything around that appointment. I know emergencies happen so I'll assume that's what kept him from letting me know, the day before. I keep my rating at a solid 5 because Nat was legit (at hair & customer service), the shop was clean, I saw two fresh cuts walk out of there lookin' nice, I don't know Angel's situation, and I have had nothing but great experiences at New Generation Barber shop, in Signal Hill. Managers and barbers are all dope over there. But I'll review that separately. read more

This place is terrible. I called in ahead of time asking for a haircut as a walk in. There were two barbers that weren't working. They were sitting and chitchatting on their phones. They told me to come in later. I came in later and one of them was working while the other one was hanging out in the break room. They told me to come back another time. So I basically will never come here again, and I will tell my friends to not come here because they will not get service. there is also another review where someone said they're not taking clients when they're available. read more

Besides the quality of your haircut, which is the best I've ever had, the ambiance is amazing. They even tailored the music to my liking, without even asking. The first time I ever came to this barber, the lady who cut my hair did an absolutely TERRIBLE job. I told her exactly what I wanted and even showed pictures and she was doing good and I asked for just a very small amount more off the top and she proceeds to chop off an extra inch and a half, resulting in an absolutely terrible haircut which I still paid for and tipped on. This was a few months ago. I've walked in before asking for a cut and this guy tells me they're all booked for the day even though the place is empty, okay whatever understandable. Today I walk in and same thing, place is empty, just the one guy with 1 client. I ask for a cut and he says "all booked up for the day" I ask if he has any availability for the day and he says around 5 (this interaction happened at 2-2:30pm) I say okay I'll come in at 5 then, can I leave you my name and number on a card in case something opens up sooner? He says sure. I leave his name and number and go home. Right now as im writing this review, I just called at 4:38pm, I ask if i'm still okay to come in at 5, guy on the phone says someone else already walked in for the 5 and it's first come first serve, I said "but it's not even 5? it's 4:40, how can the 5 be taken?" He tells me the same thing, "it's first come first serve, someone's already here for the 5". These barbers don't like to do their job, never available to give a haircut ever, they have no courtesy or respect, and the one time I WAS ABLE to get a haircut, they give me one of the worst cuts ever. Don't recommend these new gen barbers who don't actually like to work and just wanna make a buck whenever they feel like it. 0/5 stars. read more
