The chicken nuggets they serve for $12.75 a plate
    Rich W.

The restaurant food was absolutely terrible. I cannot believe how bad, or that they have the guts to serve this and call it "Chinese food" for $12.75 per person. I swear to god the "chicken" is quite literally frozen chicken nuggets, the "fried shrimp" looks and tastes just like the long john silvers fast food frozen shrimp (which I received just 2 of), the fried rice seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day (this was a 5pm on a Friday night dinner too, not a Tuesday lunch hour), the egg roll was cold in the center so I have to assume that it too was microwaved. I ate 2 of the chicken nuggets and a scoop of rice before giving up. Paid the tab for all 3 of our "Dinners" and left. Atleast the water was good. The service was good. DO NOT EAT HERE. We all ordered the combination choice, 2 with sweet and sour chicken and the other with general tso option. CHICKEN NUGGETS for $12.75 a plate?! I'll attach the photos for proof if I can...

One particular situation I couldn't get the denom to change, when I called for service she said that you have to click ABOVE the denom button, WHAT!? who knows to do that? And guess what, I was just out there recently and IT'S STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY! The restaurant/s food is meh. When this place first opened, it was a fun trip wherein you could get decent food, musical entertainment, an occasional affordable festival, and the remote chance of winning a few bucks. Seniors were treated/enticed with freebies, no strings attached. The food fests had actual food network stars to see at a good price. Those folks are no longer advertised. Now to qualify for gifts, status points (that black box that no one can quantify) must be earned. This is fine for gambling addicts cuz they're gonna play regardless, but casual patrons will now be forced to pony up unknown $s to get some unneeded made-in-China trinket. Sadly, a once fun place has been converted into your typical depressing casino where zombified gamblers will slowly drain their retirement accounts in hopes of hitting it big.

We usually stay within the Hilton portfolio when traveling, but for this trip to Southwest…read moreWashington, surprisingly, we weren't able to find any Hilton properties available for our dates. That led us to look at other options, and we ended up booking here for a four-night stay in late September. The booking process was straightforward--I was able to use an older account I had from years ago when I was traveling internationally, particularly in France. Back then, I had the impression Best Western was more of a smaller, regional brand in the western U.S., but it's actually much larger than I realized, with 18 brands across more than 100 countries and territories. In terms of experience, Best Western feels a step below our usual Hilton stays. That being said, check-in was simple, though not quite as seamless as we're used to since there was no digital key option. We had to wait at the front desk for a bit with two other guests ahead of us, which wasn't a major issue but did add to the first impression. The property itself is dated, and unfortunately that showed throughout our stay. Our room, while clean enough, felt dark and somewhat tired, even with most of the lights switched on. The bed was comfortable and we did appreciate that the room was fairly quiet at night, which made for decent sleep. However, there were some details that left us less than comfortable. The shower water never got beyond lukewarm, which was disappointing. There was leftover blue painter's tape on the ceiling and around the shower--presumably from a recent paint job. There was a cobweb from the ceiling down to the shade on one of the lamps. Those kinds of details made the room feel unfinished. We didn't make much use of the amenities on-site, since this stay was primarily about having a base while we explored the areas between Vancouver and Longview/Kelso. Because of that, our perspective is limited to the room itself and the general upkeep of the property. Overall, it served its purpose, but we didn't feel entirely at ease here. Would we stay again? If it were the only option within our price range, yes. But next time we'd likely do more research ahead of time to see if a local hotel, a small motel, an Airbnb, or even a bed and breakfast might offer a more comfortable alternative.

What should have been a simple correction turned into several days of frustration, dismissiveness, and unprofessional behavior from the hotel staff. Immediately after submitting my reservation online, I realized I had mistakenly booked with the wrong hotel location. When I contacted Best Western customer service, I was informed that any refund or cancellation would need to be handled directly by the hotel. Upon calling the hotel, I was told that only the manager could authorize refunds, but she was not available and I should call back the next day. After several days of repeated calls, I was informed that there was no manager at all--only an owner who was never present--and that refunds were simply never given. The staff member I spoke with was incredibly rude, dismissive, and made no effort to provide assistance or even basic courtesy. This experience reflects a serious breakdown in communication, accountability, and customer service. Being told to repeatedly call back, only to ultimately learn that no one with authority was ever available, is unacceptable. The rude treatment I received only compounded the issue. I recommend avoiding staying at the Best Western Woodland Washington. I will also not stay at any other Best Western across the country because of this rude and unprofessional treatment.

Once inside, staff was clearly glad to see us and even provided blankets when we first chose to go outside around the covered fire pit area. As this was a rather cold and damp day, we soon retreated inside and found a nice table near the front. We skipped the wine tasting and went for full glasses to go with our food choices. They have beer too, but in a place like this, what's the point? We mostly went for the Pinot Noir selections, which I found went very well with what we ordered. That included: The "famous" Baked Brie appetizer. Let's say that the "hype" is real. Hot Turkey Spinach Artichoke Sandwich - Rich and delicious. Erin and I went for that and we gladly shared. Reuben. At the recommendation of Gary, my date and I had the baked brie. I'm not able to eat gluten right now, so he ate all the pastry parts, but the Brie had delicious apple chunks and it was just gooey and yummy. I know there are a lot of wineries in this area, but you will definitely want to come here. It's a beautiful location and we were fortunate to run up to the top of the roof, where there is seating, to see the sunset last night. It was magical. Get a tasting, and get the sparkling rose. You won't regret it!
