Typically we would just drive into portland if we needed something to do but we wanted to stay closer to home. We decided to try out this bowling alley. We definitely didn't expect much. The first thing that we noticed was the strange carpet outside the building. Oh well, it's an old place. For being a holiday the place was pretty busy. We got one of the two open lanes that were not already occupied. It's always nice when they let our little one bowl in her own shoes instead of making her wear shoes that don't fit, so that was a plus. I ordered a pitcher of beer and some mozzeralla sticks. I waited for almost half an hour before having to go up there to see if they were finished yet. They forgot to start them. I was slightly annoyed but when they came out they were delicious and we were having a good time. They asked us if we wanted any marinera sauce, we said yes please! Too bad, we never saw it. We ended up ordering another pitcher of beer and playing another game. We had a great time and they fixed the issues promptly with the equipment (this happens everywhere you bowl). By the end of it my daughter wanted to play some arcade games. None of them were age appropriate except for a little ride on motorcycle. That's okay, she had no idea and loved every minute of it. My boyfriend kept trying to play the prize machine. He put in six dollars and finally landed on the prize. Unfortunately the machine didn't give him his prize. I went to the counter and asked the lady for some help. She was excellent! She couldn't give him his prize and actually gave him all his money back. That was not at all what we expected. She even chatted with us for a few minutes about coming back to have her son in law drill a ball for us. She was very sweet and is why we this place got four stars. We will definitely be back for more family entertainment!

His customer service and desire to make sure our night is enjoyable is his top priority even completely stopping what he is doing to literally sprint to the back of the alley to fix our pins if there is a mechanical error of any sort. He as well as the other staff members treat us great every time and its the reason we choose to continue to bowl there when we are in town. My only caution is to watch out for the owners son, he gets hammered and walks around to try to bet money on games against more inexperienced players claiming he is as well, inexperienced. He is actually pretty good compared to the casual player and needs to grow up and stop trying to hustle paying customers that keep the alley running in the first place. He also loves to brag that he is the owners son the entire time(which really isn't impressive and I believe does nothing but give the alley a bad reputation.) Myself, as well as 3 of my friends had to tell him that we didn't want to bet him on games over 20 times(to be conservative) and Mike, as well as his friends had to literally pull him away. Other then that specific individual I would 10/10 recommend and definitely plan to return.

She and I chose King Pins. Well I technically chose them as the bowling was the least expensive in the area. And for us two, for 90 minutes, it was almost $70. Yes. That's EXPENSIVE. So we made the most of it and had a great time. We played with all the options in the bowling area for games and were silly and had fun. And clearly didn't bowl well lol But despite the price - fun was had. Service is okay at best over by the "Tap house," but at least the option exists to have "table service," while you bowl. It was a last minute ask (thank you, dear child *eye roll*) that I was able to book at a preferred time in under a week, and the kids had fun, which is what mattered most! From start to finish, service was spot on: we were met by Coleton who walked us through the logistics & timing, as well as helped with some changes I requested due to attendance, and our server was Paige who made sure the boys never went without beverages. Pizzas came out quickly so the kids were able to eat & bowl, and everything was timed to perfection so they were able to sing to the Birthday Boy and enjoy cake before heading over for some Laser Tag & arcade time to end the festivities. It was also great to have a table reserved in the arcade area for belongings & whatnot, which also allowed some pitchers of beverages for the rest of the time. The space itself was immaculate and staff was buzzing around to keep tables turned over, bowling balls replaced to their rightful homes for future bowlers and the restrooms (at least the ladies!) were also clean (I know that can be a big deal for families, especially with Littles). All in all, I'd say this was money well spent, especially considering everything that is included in the package. For 7 total kids, I think they played 3-4 games of bowling, we did 2 laser tag games & their arcade time, didn't have to set up, break down or clean up party supplies/food, etc -- id do it again in a heartbeat!

Upon pulling in, we worried, because the parking up front is sparse. There is, however, ample parking around the back. You have to hoof it a bit once to you do get parked, but they have enough room for everyone. There are food trucks outside - one with pizzas and others with chicken basket kinds of items. There are other small buildings around the main, large one. I am not sure what all is in those. One of them in the back has a bunch of claw machines. The others may be museum places and we didn't check those out. Once inside the main building, you get a wristband that allows you to play all day for $23. There is a small section of ticket/claw machine kind of games, but the vast majority of the 690 games are free to play arcade machines. Now, I have a multicade at home. I can play a lot of arcade games, but even with 12,000 games on my machine, there are a lot that I don't have. This place has many of the ones that mine doesn't (not all - but most). And it has 300+ pinball machines. When my friends and I first walked in, I went into a U-shaped area and spent 45 minutes playing a couple old racing games a bunch of pinball machines. They have pinball machines I've never heard. Lots of them that I have never heard of. My machine doesn't do pinball and I'm terrible at them, so I rarely play, but when they are free, I played a whole bunch! Beyond pinball, there was a skeeball area, several different driving games - including 3 different 4-person sets of Mario Kart, but they were always full with people that didn't one round and move on, they would play for 40 minutes straight and hog the entire thing. We never got to play Mario Kart since it was perpetually taken. We did get in on some other driving machines by luck. There was a Star Wars area with Star Wars games, there were old school and new school arcade games. There was one where you pull your guy up a mountain by pulling on a rope. A VR game, lots of shooters, and it is big enough that I lost my buddies a couple times and it took 3-4 minutes to figure out where they were playing. We were there for 5 hours an in no way had a chance to remote play everything. We wouldn't have had a chance to play all of the pinball machines solely (even though I suck at them and my games go pretty quickly) if that was all I was there to do. They did have a couple couches here and there and with all the standing in front of machines, your back and legs can get tired. There is a U-shaped area to bring your food from the food trucks inside to eat. Far too much to see and do in this place. I should note that it is very loud. If you have autistic children, they may struggle here. Noise cancelling headphones may help, but my voice was starting to go after the 5 hours because you have to be pretty loud to be heard over all of the games and the people inside. This place is epic. It doesn't have everything (I would have loved to have played Elevator Action, but they didn't have it), but it has soooo many games. And if pinball is your thing, you'll think you died and went to heaven. You really have to start early and somehow stay all day to get through sections of the establishment and even then, you'll have to come back again and again to finish playing the rest of the titles. I wish they had a method of moving people along for the popular driving games so people didn't just camp there for the majority of an hour, but there was plenty else to do so it is by no means a deal breaker. Even if you have arcade machines at home - or a multicade like mine - you need to see the epicness (that's needs to be a word) of Next Level Pinball Museum!

For $20, you get 310 credits, which can actually last a surprisingly long time depending on what you play. I definitely appreciate being able to spend a good chunk of time here without burning through everything immediately. I played Street Fighter, Mario Kart, and a bunch of other arcade games, plus several of the pinball machines. There are so many classics packed into the place that it really does feel like a giant nostalgia trip. Ground Kontrol supplies free lockers to store your stuff; just follow the instructions and don't forget your code. I learned a lot about pinball during my visits here, and played more pinball than I usually do because of that. I mean, why not? I played one of the newest pinball games, released within weeks of my visit, which was Pokemon themed, and I played one of the more vintage pinball machines, Xenon. And everything in between! It was awesome. $20 loaded onto a card will get you 15ish games, but there is a different cost depending on which game you're playing. My mom was a die-hard Ms. Pac-Man slinger back in the day, and my brother and I would burn through quarters like we were trying to keep the Oregon economy alive. The place still carries that old-school magic classic skee-ball lanes, the photo booth that's been snapping goofy faces for decades, and enough blinking lights to make a grown man feel like a kid again. Old games, new games bells ring, tickets sing, and nostalgia swings. Now these days your fun card works over at the rides too, and let me tell you something about those bumper cars. The track looks small... but those little devils spin, bang, and ricochet like a bar fight on roller skates. Fast, loud, and chaotic in other words, perfect. I always run a few laps there, but this trip I talked my wife into the Tilt-A-Whirl, that beautiful old beast that feels like it's been spinning folks silly since the 1920s. You know the one with the operator stick push forward and she flies, pull back and those cars start spinning like a politician dodging questions. By the time it really got going, we were holding on for dear life. I was laughing. My wife... not so much. Now I'll admit something bittersweet. Seaside isn't quite the little carnival town it used to be. They tore out the old roller coaster, a bunch of rides, and even that little snow cone shack at the end. These days it's more shops, more crowds, more folks than a church picnic on payday. But even with all that... Seaside still holds the crown on the Oregon coast. The beach cuts the wind just right, the Prom is perfect for a long walk, Broadway's buzzing, and the Turnaround still feels like the center of the whole show. So here's the rhyme and the reason, the simple seaside truth: Walk the Prom, hear the gulls cry, smell the salt in the air. Play some games, crash some cars, spin 'til you don't care. Drop a few bucks, laugh all day, let the good times expand Because a trip to Seaside just ain't complete... without a little time at Funland. Five stars. Still the king of coast-town fun.
