Started rebuilding my vinyl collection six months ago and have been crate digging in all the record stores in San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento. Stopped-by The Last Record Store last weekend and was amazed at the big collection of rock, jazz, heavy metal vinyl. Their rock and alternative music selection was awesome. I found two clean copies of the Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street album - was searching for months and then suddenly found two to choose from. Also bought Nirvana Unplugged, an older Tom Petty album, New Order and Foster the People. The variety was impressive, and I will always stop-by when I am in town. I would have given them a 5-Star Rating if they had a listening station. read more

Surprisingly big store that's predominantly focused on CDs (feels like such a rarity these days) but a decent vinyl selection as well. Options in the vinyl area felt less picked over that you might find in, say, a Rasputins, but maybe that's just me. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

This store is amazing if you're trying to get some music. Great store to take friends to especially if they're just starting to collect because it's at the right level before overwhelming like amoeba in SF. The store has a great atmosphere and the prices are just right. What I hope to see in the future is more reggae in the vinyl section and a bit more in the cd section. But it's understandable because a lot of stores, even amoeba, doesn't have that huge of a collection in reggae. read more

Being independently owned is one of the first things that come to mind. The staff is knowledgeable about everything, and I have been very random with my music. If they don't have what you're looking for ASK. They will find it. I bought my first LP here 6 years ago and have been coming back since then. They have helped me complete a lot of collections. Also, talk to Doug because he will ship ANYTHING ANYWHERE. I have received stuff out here in Iraq and he will ship even to the interior of Alaska upon my return. I patronized this store for years, spending thousands and thousands of dollars, starting with their downtown Santa Rosa location. They used to be quite freindly and helpful, but that has changed in recent years. Even getting their attention is a challenge at times. They keep many of the used CDs in locked racks which require that you come and get them everytime you want to choose an item, but they don't seem to understand how inconvenient this is if they don't pay enough attention. In addition, for more rare releases, they may not be out in the bins at all, but back in the store room in unmarked boxes. Often they don't want to even take a moment to look for something. Awesome staff, very friendly, knowledagble and fair, dude saw me buying a brand new cd in 2018 and said I think we have this used and grabbed me the used copy off the rack instead for way cheaper. Dope Dope record store. Mom and pop kinda place, been in business since I can remember and I've lived in santa rosa pretty much all my life. This place is old school, they don't even log their sales in a computer, they write them all down in a log that looks like your high school binder! They sell tons of used records/cds-and for good prices. I've boughten some great used jazz/rock records for 3-5 bucks, records that would've cost 10-15$ or more at amoeba. Of course it doesn't have the huge selection of an amoeba but for a small town store its great. Gabe is a friend that works there and he is very knowledgable about music, even hip hop. And that's rare in santa rosa. Ask him if you want info on music, he's pretty good. Ya this might not be the place to buy a new cd for 15$ since you can probably get it at best buy for 10.99 but you also might not be able to find that cd at best buy if its a more indie group or artist or someone off the map. Some cool new/used music dvds and some great box sets. They also sell tickets for most local shows. Check it out. read more

They have been around for 30 years I do believe , a true survivor , they may be the last , as the name implies , record store , at least in this county .
