We been visiting this store for a long time with my husband and kids. We love collecting Nintendo video games and Nintendo consoles. This time we visit Retroactive because I was in search for some games for my Nintendo DS lite. I found 2 games and I was so happy. The price was reasonable and i love it. We also speak with the owner and he was so nice and helpful. We were talking about games and we notice that he really loves what he is doting his store. We really recommend this store. Came by to check this place out. Decent store. They got a wide range of vinyls. And a smaller amount of games across different systems gens. I would recommend this place to people. I do agree that the store owner isn't that friendly which is ok, cuz I'm not friendly either. Once I made a purchase, he was more friendly and talkative. Maybe he doesn't like window shoppers. lol. So I've been coming here for a while now. I just wanted to say that if you are a vinyl collector this place is a great place for you to come up on some very nice finds. They carry just about everything from Rock and roll, soul, jazz, new wave, easy listening, hip hop, house and techno. They have different priced items within the store ranging from 99 cents easy listening and hip-hop to some very collectible items that are competitively priced to match what the going rate on the market is. The one great thing I noticed about this place is that most of the vinyl are in decent shape. I have not really come across any vinyl that is heavily scratched or just plain abused like you'll find at let's say a Goodwill, or at some random yard sale. I think that they pretty much discard those records that are just in terrible shape which is great because then you know that you are paying for a good quality item. On top of that they also carry throwback video games for various consoles such as for the original nintendo, the original sega, Sega saturn, Sega genesis, SNES, N64. They even have game boy stuff too period you can look at the pictures and get a general idea but this really come over here and support local business and Solano county and get to talk to the owners here they are very great and down to earth and just really chill. Also as of right now they are having a deal where if you buy any (3) 45rpm 7" records, you'll receive two of equal or lesser value for free. I used to come here all the time and do business with the original owners, but the new owner is terrible, unfriendly, and completely wasted my time. I live 30 minutes away and called beforehand to make sure I'm not wasting my time driving all the way out there. I asked him what he pays for trade-in value on used NES, SNES, and Xbox 360 controllers. He told me $10 trade-in value for each controller depending on how many I bring him. I brought him a big box of stuff, he pulled out all his favorite controllers that he wanted and then told me he would only pay me $5 trade-in value per controller. When I told him you told me $10 over the phone, his only response was "That's why I don't like giving quotes over the phone because I don't know the condition". The condition on these controllers was absolutely fine. Especially the SNES controllers. These controllers are over 30 years old, of course they are going to have some light scratches on the back and maybe some specs of dirt that can be scrubbed off with a toothbrush, but to offer 50% what you offered on the phone is absolutely ridiculous. He also turned down all of my Xbox 360 controllers when he just stated on the phone that he needed them and those were also in perfectly good condition. Look at this photo of the controllers he quoted me on and you tell me if this looks like offering me 50% what he offered on the phone is fair given the condition. read more

A goddess of all things music (Trisha) works here. Given "Orange Juice and Smile" by Apple Brown Betty" in "1997", she came up with the right song "Smile" by "Vitamin C" in 1999. She told me where I could find that song that had been running amuck in my brain for 3 or four straight days. In addition to selection, wonderful customer service, and a smile behind that mask, she doesn't judge my eclectic taste in music, finding me records from Abba to ZZ Top and anything in between. This was a really great vinyl/record store find! My SO took me to Rasputin for vinyls and it was very limited. I come from Sacramento so I'm blessed with a variety of record stores and what not. This reminds me of Dimple Records. The 99¢ bins were dope to look through and we nabbed some cool finds for listening to and novelties. Had a large selection of Jazz, classical, and rock. They have other sections like rap, hip hop, weird (an actual bin), comedy, etc. As well as records they had old school gaming systems, games, controllers, adapters, and vintage tees. The overall experience was great and deserves a 5 because the worker there, Russel, was extremely accommodating. He was helpful, asked what genre we were looking for and told us how the store came to be since my SO lives near there. Definitely coming back for the records and service! read more

This store has so much potential! The Staff is always nice & there Vinyl Selection is fantastic! Why do I give 2 stars? It comes down to pricing and there Retro Video Games. They are high. Example. For 1 Copy Of Pokemon Yellow on eBay is $15-$20. Here the same game was $30! Another was a copy of The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time sells on eBay for $30 here it Was $60! I will hope that in the future The Prices will be more Standard. Update to Review & Response to Owner Wrist Slaps. I can understand how a Brick & Morder Store has to operate. Buy for 1/3 & sell it For 2/3 profit. I also understand that you take trades which is great! However when I called ahead to Ask if you took trades I was told by a young sounding man you only took in High value games or popular games from Nintendo. Bought in a clean copy Majoras Mask 3D Label a$60 value & was offered $7 for it in trade. You also wouldn't buy my pristine Sega Saturn because your guy said you where not buying Systems at this time. I can only think of one reason for this and it's probably because you don't want the hassle of having to pay taxes on them like a Pawn Store would. And lastly my family owns a Small Business in Sacramento since 2005. We have prided our selves in fair and reasonable pricing that has keep food on the table and clothes on our backs all while not taking care advantage of the customer. I was in town so I figured I'd stop by to see if they had a Sega Dreamcast in stock which I saw on a picture of one of the reviews here. Looked like the same one. While I was lookin at it the two ladies who worked there were pretty much ignoring me. So I had to ask them what the price was for it. They seemed annoyed that I asked them. The DC was $114 which you could just buy on EBay for the same price. Usually for a game store like that you would expect a good deal since you have to go out of your way to go buy something. I left 2 stars due to poor customer service and simply because the DC and games were an inconvenience. read more

My husband and I started going to Collins Music mainly because they buy and sell used musical equipment, i.e. guitars, amps, etc. But we soon discovered that they sell much more than that. Looking for vinyl? Come here, they have plenty of it. What about old video games or game systems? We've added some rare NES, Sega Genesis, and PS2 games to our collection. And how about DVDs? I found a DVD there that I was having a hard time finding at other places- The Parent Trap (don't hate, lol, it's for my inner kid), the original version with Hayley Mills. One thing that's nice is you can bargain with whoever's working to get a deal for multiple items. The only thing that I deducted a star for is that certain sections of the store are cluttered, as was brought out in previous reviews. Pricing here is a bit more than what the asking is for online, but I'm happy to pay a little extra for some games within reasonable pricing to support a local spot. This place is great! Could not find good SNES games anywhere. Bought Mario All Stars for my wife for Christmas. She LOVES IT! The owner was very nice and helpful! First cartridge I bought would play on his console but wouldn't play on mine so he exchanged it for me. He even offered to look at my console it if I couldn't get it to work, but all good, the second cartridge works great. Thanks so much! Definitely will be back soon. read more

This store has a great selection of vintage music and video games.you can find just about anything your looking for, but be prepared to pay top dollar for any video games you find in this place. For example, they were asking $30 for a Zelda adventure of link and it wasn't even in a box they were asking almost $200 for an original Xbox that's modded to play retro games when the system itself typically goes for $40-$50 and the service to mod is typically $25. The music is priced fairly and this is why I gave it 2 stars, if your looking for video games go to eBay instead. Update: the store buys video game lots on eBay and parses the games out at $$$$$ markup . So yeah , you are better off going to eBay. read more

My dad just rebuilt our 1968 Rock-Ola jukebox and my husband and I needed to find a bunch of good 45s to fill it with. We found Collins on Yelp and decided to go check it out. We were not disappointed! We found the 50+ records we needed, most of them 80's music from our misspent youth, and we had a blast doing so! The nostalgia of thumbing through the rows of records trying to find musical treasures was an awesome way to spend a Saturday evening. This is a treasure of a store. My 17-year-old son is heading there later this week to check out their vintage games and I know he'll end up spending many hours there. They even have old cameras like AE and some old film cameras. They sell guitars of every kind, have old dj sound systems and speakers. Rasputin overcharges for the same records and has virtually no games. The lack of money being put back into our community by best buy and gamestop is a good enough reason to go here first. I appreciate the nice selection of vinyl, friendly workers, and great selection of retro/rare video games. A fun store to browse around in. On the bottom side of the equation they don't seem too willing to work with customers, or make deals on items that are already over priced which is a shame since I like to support local stores. Seems like a bad strategy since the store is located in a small town, competition is tough with websites like ebay, and the store is mostly empty whenever I come here. I would probably drop by more often if I could get better deals here. I bought a handful of Nintendo Power magazines but their pricing for retro games is odd. For example, I bought a copy of Mickey Mousecapade complete with box/manual for $20 but they had a loose copy of the game for the same price. They also had a copy of Mega Man 2 on the shelf for $30 and someone brought in another copy and they slapped a $50 price tag on the second game. Other games are commonly $5-10 higher than average. It's worth stopping in every few weeks to see what's for sale since this store might have a handful of titles that are more difficult to find elsewhere, which is awesome, but most titles can be picked up cheaper online or elsewhere. Other than that it is also a clean store, with good music playing in the background. read more
