I was told by my uber driver that this bar is known for people looking for fights. I walked up tot the bar and asked Erika the bartender for a Tequila sunrise. She told me to hold on in a very rude tone while she was waiting for a customer to pay for his drinks and he kept taking forever. I asked her again for the drink and she said " hold on", rather than being polite enough to make the drink while her customer was fumbling on his wallet full of singles and $5 to pay. I asked Kyle for the drink and he hooked it up sono gave him a $10 tip. One of the locals told me that Erika is a bitch and that Kyle is cool. When I posted a picture detailing what happened , Erika reached out to me via Instagram DMs and has her troll friends harass me and bully me for speaking up about her terrible customer service . read more

The place had a good beer list. Since I was just there to have a beer, that should have been enough. Unfortunately: 1) The bartender didn't know the first thing about the beers he was serving. I asked him about styles, and he started telling me where the breweries are located. When I clarified that I was asking about the beers' characteristics, he just shrugged: "I'm not really a beer guy". 2) Ick. If I'm at a crowded bar late on a weekend night, I'm more-or-less okay with a moderately disgusting environment. When it's early in the afternoon and I'm apparently one of the first customers of the day, I don't want to feel a sticky surface on the bar. I think my experience here could best be summed up by how I felt the next day: chock full of nasty, icky vibes. It is dirty. It is sticky. The music is terrible. The bouncers are aggressive. The drinks are subpar. It is dangerous (we had to have a full-body pat down for weapons in addition to having our pockets and bags searched). The worst part, however, is the clientele. We're not just talking immature twenty-somethings who are there to get wild (although that comprised more than half of the bar). It's the criminals, the pimps, the low-lives, and the men who are on their way to being charged with sexual assault if they haven't been already. It's a very predatory environment; not a place where I would feel safe going alone, ever. All throughout the night I was telling men who were blocking me to move, defending myself after being grabbed, and verbally berating men who were speaking to me like I was an object. It was disgusting. This is definitely where misogynists congregate. I suppose every city has and needs this kind of bar, and The Night Deposit is Salem's. But I will not be coming back, for my own safety and sanity. read more

This bar was exceptional - perfectly made drinks and the owner DJ had the patrons party and have a great time. I brought some glow sticks to add to the fun and they were loved. I had the Smokey old fashion and it was awesome. The staff was quick to clean tables and rid the place of bad customers. Security was tight at the front door which was much appreciated. I have been here about 3 times and I love the selection of whiskeys. Yea this place charges a lil bit, but it's what u get when u go to a fully packed place of spirits. This is the one and only place I've found in all of oregon that has a wide selection of Rye, sour mash, bourbon, flavored, scotch, Irish etc ! I love the selection so much I almost hate it for making me think like this. The only bottle I haven't found is Noah Mills. Sometimes u want to take it to the limit and maybe it's good they don't have it for my sake. To sum up, it's a place to go to drink some great spirits. You can't wear your hats backwards and security seems to make a big presence. Overall, Salem doesn't have any real night clubs and you find these bar and grills type places or local watering holes that suffice. This is a very interesting place. During the day it's a great spot for lunch with the family but at night on the weekends you can hear the music from outside. They are most known for their whiskey bar but they offer a lot more! The bar always has some great specials especially on tuesday nights. They have $2 you call its, $5 steak dinners and much more depending on what special you walk in on. They only offer street parking which isn't a problem until the weekends. I often have to park a block away which isn't too bad. Inside they have a giant bar, many options for sitting and two dance floors. The second dance floor is elevated and behind the DJ. read more

First time going there last night and it's def the spot!! Erika (spelling?) made the best drinks and shots!!! Foood was good, good portions and tasted great! Then the dj showed up and when the music started that is when the night got better! Def a chill spot to come out hang with friends dance and enjoy! Will be back! I'm not sure how to describe this place. It's a nice after work bar with sports on the TVs and a vast wall of Whiskeys. The vibe is not a restaurant but more like a blend of bar and pub with an area for stools and stand up tables and another for sit down. I didn't use the bathrooms, but it seemed clean from the dining room side of things. The server was engaged and attentive in just the right way--not too intrusive and not hard to get. The happy hour is pretty amazing compared to where else I've been lately. I got a cheese-burger with fries, my pal got buffalo wings, and we each had 2 beers. $22--so the price is right! The burger was simple and the cook was proud enough to leave it open to show me the ingredients were fresh and not hiding any tomato ends or limp lettuce. It was what I expected (a good thing.) Unfortunately, they serve thin fries that simply do not hold their heat. They were not cold, but not piping hot as they should be. Annie, in particular, is awesome and her service and friendliness is the reason we started coming back again. Also, the have the BEST Taco Tuesday EVE tacos, especially the fish tacos. ................................. Don't go here for the food, go for the reasonably priced, basic drinks. Nice chill place to hang out on a weekend afternoon, but skip the specials and the Cobb Salad with its old avocado, so dry they're brittle strips of chicken and a pile of white onions (why?!!). She sat behind the bar top and was having a conversation with the the lady eating food even though we were several feet away waiting her to take our order. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a drink and a bite to eat. The place was empty. We should have left right then. Service was pleasant and prompt (no one else to serve, how could it be slow?). That is the only reason we gave 2stars instead of one. Food was really awful. It tasted like it was cooked in ransid oil that hadn't been changed for a month. My wife's wine glass came with water droplets all over it and some old lipstick on the rim. Nothing was done right. Bottom line, we won't ever eat here again. Went for the drag brunch. First and foremost, the performers were amazing. They are the sole reason anyone would be here on a Sunday at 11am. The Night Deposit charged $25 for brunch, $20 for bottomless mimosas, and an additional $20 to reserve a table. Even though doors opened at 10am it took forever for food to come out, many not eating til 12:30pm or later. They also forgot to take the order of an entire section. When the food came out it was disgusting and cheap. It was cold and undercooked. The french toast was soggy and definitely not cooked, it didn't even come with syrup. The hash browns were a super small portion and not crunchy at all, barely cooked through. I was given maybe 1 tbsp of the driest, nastiest eggs ever. The bacon was the only semi-decent thing. I wasn't about to spend $45 (thank god) for the bottomless mimosas, but those were the only things that were probably worth the price. Do NOT eat here. With what people paid to be here I cannot believe they actually served what they did and didn't refund everyone their money, little of which actually went to any of the queens. read more

I explained the situation to both bouncers neither one was willing to let me in (both of which had seen me earlier that evening, because I had already been in already.) First of all, this place has high security for a very small venue. It tries to front like its some kind of Portland night club when really it is some small 2 bedroom apartment. Apparently it had a dress code? When I walked in (as a gay woman) in a beanie, vans and a big coat but they patted down all my gay male friends then didn't let my male friend in who was wearing a tank top. Just went in with my friend to play a game of pool and asked the bartender for quarters and she asked for ID. We showed her our passports and she said I cannot take it because it must be a US issued passport. I have been in the US for three years now and I know for a fact that passports are the ONLY acceptable documents in the US. How else would anyone that is not American go into any place? I confronted her and said this is unacceptable , she was very rude and started talking to the other waitress and said this: " I know we are not supposed to accept Mexican passports, so why should we accept his passport?" To which the other bartender replied by saying: "I don't know, check if he looks like a Mexican". At this point, I took my passport, said I don't have to deal with a bunch of Racists and left. I just moved to Salem a couple of weeks ago and was sad to discover the lack of nightlife (I love to dance). I am so glad I stumbled upon the Night Deposit when I was walking downtown this past Saturday night. The space itself is really neat, with an elevated dance floor next to a live DJ. There's even a cage on the dance floor! Unfortunately the dancing didn't get going until rather late, around 11:45 pm. Up until then, the floor was basically empty. However, once it got going, it seemed like everyone was having a good time. If there was anything I could improve, it would be the hype... it's a great space with awesome music and nice bartenders, but seemed to be lacking energy from customers. It might have just been the 100+ degree weather, but I think the Salem crowd definitely didn't bring their A game. Let's hit the dance floor, people! I like this place. I like the way it looks with its dark wood. It does have a nice dance floor. It feels like there are many rooms within this huge space. There is the room with the bar where the shelves reach to the ceiling. There is this night where you can get $2 cocktails with any liquor on any shelf. It makes for a cheap night and good (or bad) nights. There is outdoor seating and heaters for those cool evenings. I hear the food is good. I have only had drinks here and they're pretty solid. There is a room for the lotto machines and a large dance floor. You can't really see what is going on on the dance floor at the bar. It's probably the most happening place in Salem if you're looking for the occasional tunes and drinks. read more
