So we usually drive by and today figured we would pop in! Service was on point, she was the only one handling tables/bar, super friendly, let us know she was alone and apologized if slow. (Which she wasn't). Had a couple beers and a manhattan, we decided on some apps to start. Cajun wings, cooked perfectly, crunch skin, tender falling off bone. Great flavor. The chowder and the butternut soup were great. Love the flavors of both- (we shared lol) We split a French dip, which was really good, my only negative was the Ainu's reduced way too much, or someone got heavy handed with the base and it was salty... The beef was perfectly med rare and had enough flavor so we didn't dip, and wasn't upset enough to complain. We ordered two desserts, one to go and one for there. The ice cream sundae is insane... so good, warm brownie, loads of ice cream!! The dining room seemed to have a lot of regulars and we will soon enough be one more regular there as well! read more

Very pretty historical setting was the first thing I experienced about the Norfolk Pub. Our appetizer was delicious. Everyone raves about the chicken wings. The lunch was equally as tasty. Seven years later, we're back. And not as happy as our last visit. Briefly, we found. the food very tasty, the service so-so, and the ambience dreadful. Let's get to the bad stuff first: the noise inside the restaurant (which used to be Wood Creek Grill) made hearing and conversation impossible. No kidding. Three of the four people in our group simply could not converse throughout our 75 minutes inside. The waiters could not hear us, and they seemed to have difficulties hearing each other. So we had to ask three different times for lemons, twice for straws (never got 'em), and our waiter confused our order (hardly his fault). We won't come back because we believe conversation and socialization is a critical part of the pleasure of any dining experience. This is a real problem we hope the restaurant will try to revolve. And why should they? Well, because the food we ate was good. The tuna with ginger soy glaze and wasabi drizzle was expertly prepared and a slightly spicy taste. The bang-bang shrimp were lightly battered, and the side dishes nicely done as well. Our service was on the slow side, a bit inattentive -- it appears they are understaffed, a problem besetting many restaurants these days, sadly. Nonetheless, that added to our disappointment. And one further note: the day's specials were listed on a large blackboard barely visible to anyone not sitting nearby. We had to take a photo on our iPhone to allow others at the table to see them And no prices were listed! We'd advise caution if you're planning a visit here - maybe try sitting outside where they have a few tables if the weather if satisfactory (it was raining when we came). read more

I lived in Norfolk for many years, the pub was always the focal point of the town. The food is delicious, creative, and consistent. One of my favorite appetizers is the Calamari, a close second is the Thai chili wings, I could go on and on! The staff is friendly and some have been there for years. read more

The pub level food is very good value for the price, and the entrees are excellent The staff are amazing, especially when really hustling when the place is packed, and are extremely helpful and pleasant. We had a fantastic dining experience. We were seated in the bar with Lindsey as our waitress. The Sausage and Penne was the best I've ever had, and my husband's Chicken Marsala was fantastic. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. Great food and the nicest staff ever. read more

First time going here was a bit of a disappointment. Restaurant is charming, they have inside & outside seating. We understand places are short staffed but we waited an hour & 10 min for nachos & their Thai chicken app... when we inquired the waitress said the chef burned them & had to remake.. ok but we ordered more than one app.... Bartender was quick & drinks were fantastic. The mushroom ravioli was fantastic!! Unfortunately the sirloin it was sitting in a pool of water (see for yourself in the picture) from the veggies. Here's my review: GET THE WINGS! There are lots of lovely things about the Norfolk Pub. The historic building has a distinctly tavern vibe. The setting is gorgeous; leave time to sit or walk in the back, it's quite picturesque. We sat at a high top near the window in the bar and it was very relaxed and homey. Our server was lovely and offered great advice about both the menu and the wine list. My husband really enjoyed his cold slaw (the side he got with his burger), my son loved his turkey sandwich called The Rachel, and my Santa Fe salad was really good (large, a good mix of crunch, enough zesty bits, and good dressing). However, the wings were next level. I mean really, really good. They were big. They were cooked to perfection. We all agreed that if we had known how good they were going to be, we would have ONLY HAD WINGS ! ! ! They were THAT good. If I could only rate the wings, it would give them 5 stars! read more

Great restaurant in the town of Norfolk. A picturesque location that offers delicious pub food and more. Plenty of craft beer options, daily specials all looked amazing. I tried the veal and shrimp mediera and also sampled the pasta bolognese. Both were delicious! You can tell this is a scratch kitchen. The burgers coming out of the kitchen looked awesome! Stop thriving on the theater!! So sad.. your food has deteriorated and it's horrible We have Been going here (via Motorcycle over 2 hrs away ) for over 8 years. But... today we rode there specifically for our 37th anniversary and it all really sucked!! The Turkey Rachel was awful (seemed liked slides deli meat). They didn't have Thai wings..I got the risotto ball. It was horrible!! There was a couple we sat with at the bar ...they go there regularly... they were as disappointed as us!! They used to have the best blue cheese dressing I've ever had (and o get it everywhere). Today it was so watered down it made me sick !!... we all understand having to cut corners to make it work. After a day of fall hiking in the area with two friends, we stopped here, which is located in a strip mall. The three of us ordered various burgers, two with fries, one with onion rings. Note that on the way to our table in the bar area, I had to ask one of the patrons what she was eating, because it looked so good. She was eating an appy of nachos with chicken, which was a plateful. Anyway, back to our burgers....the buns (rolls) were substantial, but not overwhelming. Burgers were excellent - 7 ounces, as I recall. Rings were also very good, fries just OK. Excellent service, and a large selection of draught beer. Overall, a very good experience, and way to revive our weary bones after a nice hike! read more

So I had a lovely experience for lunch here - high end food in a uniquely refurbished location. The French Dip sandwich was very good, a lot of dip (at least for me, but I don't use that much to begin with) and simple french fries. A nice break from steak fries though. It was very clean, our server was very friendly, and if something is going on at Infinity Music Hall parking is a challenge. My party was a little disappointed (and I left early, so I did not see) that they don't offer coffee or dessert for lunch; at least, none was offered on the day of our visit. read more

I ordered 'hot' and they could have been a tad hotter, but everything else was on point. We also ordered French onion soup, and jalapeño popper burgers and everything was excellent. If you're going to a show at the Infinity, there aren't a lot of dinner choices in the immediate area. You can eat at Infinity, or the pizza joint to it's left, or the Wood Creek Bar to it's right. So the Wood Creek is where we had dinner last night. It's not a huge place, so reservations on a concert night might be a good idea (more on that later). It has a cozy sized dining room and a bar side with a few tables. Beers were reasonably priced - $5 for a Blue Moon and just $3 for a Rolling Rock. One very odd thing we discovered is they don't serve any hard cider at all. That's bizarre because every saloon I have been in over the last 3 years not only sells them, but most places have table top advertising promoting them. It just seemed strange that Woodchuck or some other similar product isn't sold. Anyway, our food was very good- we had fish tacos (mahi mahi) served with great thin and crispy fries and a small ramekin of slaw, and a special called Tuscan Chicken Salad which was a grilled chicken breast served with fresh lettuce and tomato along with home-made mozzarella cubes and polenta croutons. Both entrees were very good and each cost $14.95. Service was OK, our waiter was new and we could see one of the servers schooling and mentoring him as the night progressed. As for my reservation story, when I called to set them up I received an answering machine message stating they were closed for a vacation week, but would reopen at 5:30 of the night I wanted to have dinner there. We left a message as prompted, and I basically gave my name, #, and requested time and said "call me if you can't fill this request". I never got a call back so we assumed everything was all set. Of course when we arrived on time, we weren't on any list, no one knew anything about a phone message, the placed was full, but luckily there was some room in the bar, so we had dinner at a bar high top table (which was fine). So maybe no one listened to our message, maybe whoever listened to it didn't communicate that info to anyone, or maybe someone didn't think it was important to call us back? Who knows, pick any that may apply. That's a shame, because Woodcreek Bar and Grill was a pretty cool place, and the odds are good we'll be back the next time we see a show at the awesome Infinity Theater. I'll just be a little more diligent about speaking to a human vs. a machine. read more

Wonderful spot. Cozy, unpretentious and the food is awesome. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Great variety of dishes ranging from unpretentious bar food staples to very fine preparations and specials that would impress any foodie (I've had the duck and a number of delicious pasta specials). This chef would do well in any competitive restaurant city so we're very lucky to have her up here. Service is outstanding and very friendly. Love the service staff! Given the current employment environment I always like to give the benefit of the doubt. The bus boy was the best part of my experience! After 15 minutes someone finally came to give me a menu. No water. No utensils or much use or bread. Just a menu. To his credit he was NOT the waiter - he was just the bus boy. We found this place while simply looking for a destination with outdoor dining. An excuse to get our sportscar out for a ride. The result? Amazing experience. Service was great. The Korean BBQ wings were arguably the best wings I've ever had. The Popper burger is unreal. Try it. Onion rings? Amazing. Onion soup? Gone! Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor. This place is great, which is lucky because it's the only place in Norfolk to get dinner! If you're going on a night when there's a show at Infinity Music Hall, be sure to make a reservation or go before or after the rush. On a dark and stormy night ... we decide we need the warmth and hospitality of Heidi, Mike and their well-oiled team at The Wood Creek Bar & Grill. Donning our winter gear as it's a frigid -1degrees here in the Berkshires at 5:30 p.m., we head to the unique and quaint little village of Norfolk, CT...we are hungry and feeling like we need pampering! We park the car and pull our coats closer as the wind seems to try to prove it's Hodr himself in a driven effort to chill us to the bone in seconds flat. But warm lights from The Pub's windows beckon us on and we manage to overcome Hodr and make it to the door. Entering the warm bar, the aromas from the various offerings from the menu, of wine, butter and garlic greet us as we are greeted with cheerful hello's from Heidi and friends sitting in the bar area. Ahhhhh! SUCH great service! We are barely seated before our friendly and efficient waitress is asking us if we'd like to start with something to drink. Before we are finished ordering, it seems, we've each got a nice Jameson on the rocks, a nice glass of Merlot and a soda in front of us! Ohhhhhh! The Calamari! Absolutely never better than here! On the menu they state quite validly that they are "Home of the Wings" - - they're fantastic! Crispy, tender, mouth-watering Thai wings make it a challenge to hold back and leave room for the main course... Mama (90 and going strong!) chose the Apricot Chicken and said it was delicious. Husband chose a juicy cheeseburger as did our son, (who has sampled every cheeseburger in the Berkshires!), and both were delightfully satisfied. I chose the Veal topped with Shrimp which was tasty, topped with a nice sauce which was also yummy - but of course I had to take some home as a result of the delicious appetizers...! It's so nice to be able to go out in these days of weirdness and be made to feel as though everything is exactly as it should be. Average food and service. Decent spot for lunch but our recent dinner experience was definitely sub par. The calamari was rubbery and definitely not recommend. Had the mussels with linguini - the mussels were extremely small and bland. Had stomach issues for 2 days after the meal - either the mussels or calamari was bad. My wife had steak which was rubbery. Service was okay at best. They forgot to give us our salads before the meal. Will definitely be looking elsewhere when eating in the area next time.... read more

Loud venue and rude staff. I called right after they opened to request a reservation for outside IF THE WEATHER was nice, and inside if it was raining. We arrived just after a rainstorm and were told there were no tables available. When I told the server that we had a reservation, another woman approached, told me she had answered my call and proceeded to tell me that i had only requested an outside table. I know what I asked for and as there was a chance of rain, I specifically asked to be seated outside if possible, otherwise INSIDE! No one ever apologized for the inconvenience, and I was appalled at the manner in which the staff talked to prospective customers. I will never ever eat at this establishment again, nor will my family or friends. Also, for those coming in with older folks, it is a VERY LOUD place, especially when the room is full. read more

Dinner at the Wood Creek Bar and Grill turned out to be an outstanding dining experience. Fine food and warm hospitality make for an outstanding combination on a cold night, especially in a town as beautiful as Norfolk, Connecticut. We made our way through the crowd in the bar area, to be greeted by friendly waitstaff and our hostess/owner Heidi. The food was really wonderful; my girlfriend ordered the salmon, which the chef happily cooked to order, and I ordered the seafood over linguine, which was both delicious and so large we took it home and I enjoyed it for two more nights. We were so full we decided to skip dessert, although we have our eye on the Haystack Mountain Sundae, a local landmark that is visible from the large free parking area downtown. Next time! Nice outdoor seating and diverse menu with great options. I had the black bean burger which was pretty decent. Although I'm not sure I could have picked it up (it seemed crumbly) it was very tasty and had avocado, pickles, lettuce, tomato and some really good fries. The spinach, pear and goat cheese salad was excellent. The pears appeared to be poached in something and the goat cheese with toasted nuts was just perfect. The service however is not the greatest - my experience was that it was somewhat gruff. Don't come for the lovely service but because it's probably the best food option in Norfolk! read more

I have been here many times over the past few years. The food is very good, appetizers or main courses, food is fresh and well prepared. The drinks especially the martini's are also done very well. Today I stopped for lunch (table of two), we were seated then ignored (even though I often would look over to a waitress to try and get attention). The young waitresses I did not recognize so they are relatively new (within the past few months I guess). But the place was not that busy, only five tables and one outside. A party of four came in 10 minutes after me and they were seated and got their drinks (I still wait). So we chatted for 20 minutes more when I said to my friend that I don't want to wait any longer and we went to Litchfield for a nice lunch. I think it's been decades since I actually walked out of a place. I now have no intention to return. read more

I opted for the house salad as a side instead of the fries. Believe me I WANTED THE FRIES however, trying to be a bit more healthy. This isn't a review on the food as much as it is a review on the staff. My family and I were looking for a last minute bite on my birthday (Tuesday night). We looked over the Wood Creek menu online and decided this is the place. We got about a foot into the building when the Server ( maybe bartender) said "We don't have room for you." Now I'm not sensitive or a person that writes bad reviews like this every week. But... but... at least show a little of common curiosity. Maybe say "Hi, Hello, or Hey, sorry we are all booked up tonight. Hopefully we get you back another night" My wife and I both work in the industry and we both know the job can be stressful. There was no point in our interaction where we felt welcomed. We asked how long the wait would be dispite the rude staff member. She responded with, "9pm, but our kitchen is going to be closed." The staff member seemed to grow more annoyed by the moment with our presence. There was a trivia night going on and I understand that events like this draw a crowd. I also understand that maybe a reservation in situations like this are probably the way to go. We won't be dining here anytime soon. A rude staff can cost you guests.
