So, is the view everything is hyped up to be? Of course. It's absolutely beautiful. Should you come to this restaurant to see it? Very highly debatable. So I will give my pros and cons. Cons -This is a very touristy spot, given that the chances of you being able to sit and enjoy your food while getting to see the view are extremely slim. -parking is also very crowded - tables are sticky and not kept clean. I tried wiping it myself a few times for its tack to come back. -you are charged a 10% service fee no matter what, and you don't even get your food brought to you. You have to wait in like. Order yourself. And if you want another drink? Wait again in the long line. On top of being charged 10% to serve yourself? The only thing they do is cook the food. Who's getting an extra cut of my check and why? For doing what? - The food is really unbelievably spendy. I get the view and all but this isn't a steakhouse. - very stingy with the ranch for wings and charging more for a tiny bit. Pros -the wings we tried were actually good, we enjoyed them quite a bit. -The alcohol was quite affordable. Waited 10 more minutes and flagged a waiter for assistance. The tone from the next table's waitress indicated she wasn't in much of a hurry since they'll be closing in about an hour. I'm not sure if we'll even get an assigned server before they close. It's inefficient across the entire restaurant. After 40 minutes of waiting Judy finally showed after the I brought my table placard up to the hostess station asking if our server is aware of us seated at one of her tables. Zone coverage is inefficient. The food was not worth the wait. Price-to-portion is way off. Food quality needs improvement. Ambiance needs improvement. 1 star. I'm one and done with this restaurant. There's no reason for me to come back and give another try. However, if you feel or hear otherwise this place is worth trying then give them a chance and a review. read more

I don't like the glass round table and how low the tables are but the ambiance and the view is nice. It's summer time so we sat inside. The margarita tasted like something that was already premade and not that great. Returning to Austin after being away for 14 years, Oasis was a stop I insisted on making for the views, for the colorful and fun decor, and for the memories. It's a big tourist attraction and gets crazy busy. On the Monday night we were there we walked right in and got a lake and sunset view table. So beautiful! Take some time to walk around and enjoy the different areas filled with colorful artwork and funny sayings. There are statues and iron art throughout the property. There are lots of photo ops. Our food was chips/salsa/guacamole, chicken quesadilla and almond chicken entree. My drink was a glass of their house Chardonnay, which was very drinkable and good. The service is a bit on the rushed side--get our food and drink orders as fast as they can and then move on to the next table. It didn't bother me. Hey, this is not a fine dining experience here. If you are up for the view- this is the place. It is best for sunset but we were here around 3ish. We requested for a lake view & we were asked to wait for 15-20 mins, just enough time for us to do a quick stroll in their vicinity. They have very nice statues btw. We were ushered here by a lady and we were escorted on our table, we asked if we can have an umbrella up but she said NO, I AM NOT SURE. We just requested for a shaded area & she had us sit on table 116 which is in the corner & water dripping from the top floor ‍. We asked another waiter if we can be transferred & he gladly granted our request. We ordered their special paella & i love it! Their fish tacos & fish and chips need more seasoning. Whew. Where do I start? Honestly I'm baffled with the amount of times I've heard "the oasis is good for the views, not the food". Easier said than done but- I personally feel like the oasis has had ample time to take this common phrase into consideration when it comes to their menu. The food is honestly bad, and I'm not one to be super picky. My fiancee got the fish tacos and still is having a hard time hours later (described the fish as biting into cardboard). I got the chicken enchiladas which were soggy on the outside and dry on the inside. Truly did not know that was possible. The chips and queso were the best thing at the table and were subpar at best. For a drink I ordered the piña colada which albeit- I wasn't expecting it to be amazing, but it was underwhelming, not well blended and was lacking flavor (and liquor lol). Service: the wait time was an hour for a table or a $10 cover fee per person in the group to be escorted to an area that was going to have a live performance in an hour. We chose the cover fee because my fiancée was starving. The menus are QR codes and we waited about 15 minutes to be greeted but honestly was not terribly upset at that since It was a Saturday. The Oasis is absolutely worth visiting if what you want is an unforgettable view. I went there while I was in Austin for work because I wanted a place with scenery, and it definitely delivered. The drive from Cedar Park felt a little intimidating for someone who is not from the area, especially because the restaurant is a bit isolated and sits so high up, but once I arrived, it was completely worth it. The only scary part was the drive. After that, the experience was wonderful. The view is truly the highlight of this place. It is stunning, especially around sunset. I happened to go on a Tuesday, so it was not overly crowded, and I was lucky enough to get a great table right in front of the sunset. I was able to take beautiful pictures and videos, and the whole setting felt special. It was a little chilly, but honestly, coming from the Northeast, a 60-degree evening in early April was nothing to complain about. The atmosphere alone makes this place ideal for a romantic outing, a family visit, or even just a relaxing evening enjoying the scenery. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of parking and more than enough space, so you do not feel cramped and likely do not need a reservation on a quieter evening. The staff was also a major plus. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and welcoming, from the host to the servers and even the staff doing the cleaning. That level of friendliness really added to the experience and made the place feel warm and inviting. As for the food, I would say it is good, but not the main reason you go. This is more of a place you visit for the view, the atmosphere, and the overall experience rather than for an exceptional meal. The food felt like regular, simple Tex-Mex -- enjoyable enough, but not unforgettable. I had a salad that was unique and good, and I also had a virgin strawberry daiquiri, which I enjoyed. I do not drink alcohol, so I cannot comment on the bar selection. Overall, the food was perfectly fine, but if the menu were stronger, this place could easily go from very good to truly outstanding. That is really the only downside for me. With a location and setting this spectacular, better food would make The Oasis a complete 10 out of 10. As it stands, I would give it about an 8 out of 10. Still, I absolutely had a great time and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants amazing views, a fun atmosphere, friendly service, and fantastic photo opportunities. We come to The Oasis on Lake Travis for one main reason, the views. And wow, they never disappoint. This place easily has some of the most breathtaking views you'll find while dining in Austin. It is absolutely stunning. Every time we go, it still feels just as special and never gets old. The whole property is part of the experience. I love the different levels, the unique structures, the artwork, and the fountains. There are so many great spots to walk around, explore, and take beautiful photos. It's a fun outing in itself, especially with family. Now for the food, it's just okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either. I would call it pretty mediocre overall, which is why I'm giving it four out of five. That said, the location, views, and overall layout and atmosphere are impeccable. Get the fajitas and thank me later. Everyone who's been in Austin a while likes to mock the Oasis for subpar food, but the beef fajitas are actually good! Like good good. My husband and I are on a keto diet so we we're limited by what we order from restaurants, and fajitas are always a safe bet. Actually fajitas are always a safe bet, even when you're not on a keto diet. We ordered half beef, half chicken, and extra cheese instead of the carbs that usually come with it. We drove out to the Oasis on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately (Well, as soon as my husband dropped me off and parked in the parking garage.) It was no problem to get a table outside by the rail on the balcony. Our server came by and took our order quickly. We waited a normal amount of time and took some pictures. There was a corner in the sunlight with the lake and locks behind us where every girl in the place was trying to take pictures so we had to wait in a bit of a line. Then our food came out. Except... it wasn't our food. It was beef, pork, and shrimp fajitas, but they got the sides right. We told the food runners that, and in another five or ten minutes they came back with the beef and chicken fajitas... and the wrong sides. On the third try they brought out the right entree and the right sides. As soon as we dug into the food, we put the mix-up behind us. Of course the beef was good, but even the chicken was good, and chicken can often taste dry. Our server brought us drink refills regularly, and we enjoyed the view for a good long while until the heat got to us and we agreed it was time to go home. If you do it right, the Oasis is definitely still worth a visit! read more

For me, excellent service means that the wait staff are friendly, and you got what you ordered. So here's my two cents. Food: it's pub food with lots of Tex-Mex options. You're right on the lake, so it's got that lake vibe going on for sure. We got the chips and queso (with ground beef), salsa, and the guacamole up front--all were delicious. We sampled margaritas and settled on wine with dinner. The food was nothing special, but everything was served hot, well seasoned, and exactly what we ordered. Service: beyond excellent! It was pretty busy for a Monday (it always seems to be busy), so things were moving slow, but we did not care!! We simply sat on our butts watching the sunset while sipping on cocktails and they all hustled around us. Atmosphere: the whole reason to go here. Sit outside, enjoy the view, and chill to the eclectic mix of music being provided. Bonus--the people watching is phenomenal!! We don't live in Austin, but we visit The Oasis anytime we are. Every time I come here it seems like it has grown significantly. We parked in the free parking garage and walked to the building and there are gardens and plants gallore with unique artwork mixed in. Lots of opportunities for photo ops. We were seated by the host quickly and chose an outdoor seat with a view. They have a variety of unique cocktails and I selected the Peach Pina Colada with Malibu Peach Rum in velvety coconut-pineapple purée in this a vibrant, peach-forward spin on a lakeside frozen favorite. There were so many other cocktails in the menu that I wanted to try that it was hard to make a decision. For my meal I ordered the Shrimp Skewers with bacon wrapped shrimp and BBQ Sauce. Served with rice and mixed veggies. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my food. My friend ordered the Shrimp Cocktail which was almost like a ceviche style served with avocado slices, chips and lime wedge. Of course had to take advantage of the gorgeous view with some photo ops. They have started a lovers lock tradition since the last time I was here. The service was a bit slow but that was to be expected with the large amount of customers that they have. Stopped at The Oasis on Lake Travis while heading from Leander to Bandera with an out-of-town guest, and honestly, you kind of have to when you're driving right by the largest restaurant in the U.S. The parking was easy, the entrance is impressive, and that view never gets old. I love The Oasis for that alone. The food was actually pretty good,we ordered nachos, though they definitely could've brought more chips. Here's where it fell short: our waiter disappeared. He dropped our food while we were standing literally two feet from the table and didn't even let us know it was there. We needed more chips and couldn't find him anywhere, even though it wasn't busy. Later, when we were ready to pay, it took forever, and I had told him we were on a time crunch. If the service had been better, this easily would've been a 4-5 star experience. Our time is running out for showing our family members around town before they leave us. Here was the original plan...go to Whip My soul and place our to go order. Then we would go to the oasis and have quick drink and appetizer and then head back to pick up our order. Well, well, well...sometimes in life things don't go according to plan. I literally have not been to the Oasis on Lake Travis since it burned down and was rebuilt. It was completely different than I remembered - main building expanded, new large, extension of the main building and a parking garage. They now have places you can take pictures including a metal carriage. Inside there is quite a lot of eclectic artwork. When we went into the Oasis it was overcast, but with the possibility of thunderstorm according to the weather alerts. As soon as we walked onto the deck one of the managers said you need bring everyone in. Just like flipping a switch, it began to rain heavily...the kind of rain that feels like cats and dogs are hitting your roof. The lake was roaring and stirring the waters. It was a bit scary for a minute. Well, needless to say, we did not get a chance to have our appetizer and drink while we watched the sun set. However, it was very impressive how quickly all the customers were removed from the deck due to the inclement weather. We all got soaking wet, but walked way feeling good about the entire experience. I was looking for a fun, "Welcome to Austin" dinner spot for visiting family and thought The Oasis would be perfect for our large group. I hadn't been in years and, honestly, I was a little nervous after reading all the negative reviews, but we had a great experience! On a summer Wednesday evening, we had no trouble finding parking in the front lot. We arrived a bit early, grabbed a beer from the upstairs brewery (great views and solid selection), and enjoyed the scenery before dinner. Our group of nine was seated easily on the patio, and the views were as incredible overlooking the Lake Travis sunset. Our server was friendly and attentive, and despite me being picky about margaritas, the frozen house marg was great (not overly sweet). We stuck to Tex-Mex classics (enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas) and the food was simple and good. We lingered for a few hours enjoying the breeze and roaming the complex a bit after dinner. It's huge--4 floors-- but the dining rooms (interior and exterior) are divided into smaller areas, so it does not feel as huge as it is.
