Carve was actually a happy incident. I was trying to find another place for lunch, even with my GPS, it took me to a residential area. Frustrating. I knew I was close to Carve, which is my favorite restaurant. So I ended up going to Carve. Found parking on the street, which is free. But there is a parking garage where you can get a ticket, get it validated, and I believe it's 3 free hours. I also think you can down load an app and do it from your phone. But there is a lot of free street parking around. No app needed. They also offer valet too. I was greeted when I walked in. The gentleman asked if I wanted a table or a booth. Table please. I ordered a drink. Even though it wasn't on their cocktail menu, they made me a mojito. So refreshing on this hot day. Looked over the menu and decided on their prosciutto and fig pizza. Sweet and salty combination, I'm here for it. Pizza is lightly fired with a sweet fig spread, and the salty prosciutto. Beautiful shaved parmesan cheese, and arugula. A lot left over for a later snack. Also ordered their steak fries. Big wedge fries crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. That dipping sauce was so good. Highly recommend their wedge fries. Outstanding. I was ready for the check but then saw their dessert menu. They had a 3 small sample of a banana pudding, lemon bar and s'mores bar. I did order this but got it to go. I had their s'mores first which was outstanding. Thick chocolate with an ooey gooey marshmallow, sitting on a graham cracker. The next day at lunch I had the lemon bar. Which had the most flavorful lemon bite. Loved the lemon bar for sure. And for after dinner I finally had the banana pudding, which was good. But seemed rather flat compared to the others which had great flavor. But in all fairness, banana is not a strong flavor fruit. The pudding was good, light and fluffy. All in all, was a lovely meal. Crave has such an elevated atmosphere and luxury from the inside. We loved being able to select our own steaks, and the fresh oyster platter was delicious! All of our appetizers and entrées were amazing. The biggest opportunity was the service. Even though it was lunch time and very slow, half of the table drinks weren't replenished. My 5-year-old niece's pizza also arrived burnt; they kindly refunded it, which we appreciated. Was dining solo so sat at the bar. The bar area is pretty large and there's several seats at the bar. They also have a nice outdoor area to the side of the bar. The bartender was a great waitress. She was attentive to all diners and provided great service. I came during happy hour so enjoyed the rose Rita martini which was slightly sweet and refreshing and a pour of the Austin cab to go with my entree. I ordered the wedge salad. They don't have side salads so it was fairly large but delicious. The dressing was flavorful and the strip of bacon was a nice touch. It was a Thursday so I did the prime rib special. Date brunch with the hubs...neither us had been to the Carve at The Grove. We last dined at the Carve at the Southwest Parkway location. Today was a totally different dining experience. This Carve is visually appealing with clean architectural lines. Lots of glass and wood throughout the interior to spark a new and modern flare. The booths are soft and inviting...super comfortable. Before we sat down, we are already impressed. Carve at The Grove provided an upscale yet welcoming dining experience. Both the hubs and I selected the same brunch menu item...chicken and waffles. We both had a hankering for some comfort food. Our entrees were well-seasoned, flavorful and massive. We both thought we would not be able to eat all the chicken, yet we did. Trevor, our server, was warm, welcoming and extremely attentive. We did have somewhat what of a surprising debate of what is considered dark or white meat. For the record, white meat is the breast, tenderloin and wing. Dark meat is the thigh and drumstick. Came to CARVE for a friend's birthday and decided to go with the Carve for 4 plus one appetizer. The total ended up being around $260 for the four of us, which felt a bit on the pricier side, especially considering it worked out to about 12 oz of steak per person and basically a couple bites each of the app. My friends really enjoyed the steak and were pretty impressed, but personally I thought it was just okay. Not bad, just not super memorable for the price. That said, the sauce it came with was actually really good and probably my favorite part of the meal. There is parking next door at the garage, which made things easy. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, and the restroom was especially clean and tidy. Went to dinner here with my husband and overall had a great experience with a few minor misses. We started with the calamari, which had an Asian-inspired twist and came with a peanut dipping sauce and an Asian slaw. It was huge and packed with flavor--definitely a great start to the meal. We also shared the tomato and avocado salad, which was fresh and refreshing. The restaurant was kind enough to split it for us, which we appreciated, and it's something I'd absolutely order again. We also tried the puffovers--these weren't my favorite since I found the bread a bit too hard, but my husband enjoyed them. For our main course, we ordered the "board ," which includes a mix of different steak and meat cuts. It's advertised for four people and it truly could have fed four--very generous portions and great for sharing. On the side, we ordered mushrooms, mac and cheese, fingerling potatoes, roasted vegetables, and the chef's whipped potatoes. The mac and cheese was my least favorite as it felt pretty basic. The standout sides for me were the mushrooms and the whipped potatoes--both were delicious. When a coworker asked if they could warm it up the server said to give them a moment and never returned. Eventually they removed the soup from the table without asking if they were done. Ambiance: the place was very beautiful and clean, it smells amazing when you step into the restaurant. The last time I was at this Carve location I came during Happy Hour for some drinks and appetizers. I have heard so many great things about their regular menu items and was excited to come back this time for lunch. We held a luncheon in one of their private rooms with a set menu with a few different options to select. For a drink I went with a French 75. It was perfectly made. Started with their Cold Smoked Casear Salad. It was crisp and fresh. For entree I went with the 6 oz Custom Cut Filet Mignon medium rare. All I say is....WOW...this filet mignon now ranks as one of my top favorite. It was cooked exactly how I wanted. Came out sizzling on the skillet and packed with flavor. Perfectly seared with a tasty and crunchy coat of seasoning. The grilled onions and butter made it that much better. For the sides we had Smoked Mac and Cheese, Sweet Jalapeno Corn Brulee and Fire Roasted Seasonal Veggies. All absolutely delicious. For dessert we each got a cute little trio that was the perfect portion to get a little variety of different desserts. Overall the service was great and I was not disappointed by any of the items. Great first visit to Carve! Easy to make reservations and plenty of nearby (complimentary) parking. The ambiance around the restaurant is pretty neat - music playing on the walking trail and garden area outside and just inside, you can see various cuts of meat on display by the butcher. We were hosting family in town for a graduation, and this place definitely felt like a treat. Extensive menu options, and all the food was excellent quality. We ordered a few appetizers (oysters and bread tower would definitely get again) and the Carve Board to share. Favorite sides were the mushrooms and sprouts, and the only thing I wouldn't order again would be the seasonal veggies (solid portion sizes across all the plates). I came here with a friend to try the brunch menu. I ended up getting the truffle chicken pot pie off the regular menu. It was very good and very filling. It wasn't really like a pot pie. It was like a truffle, mushroom chicken chowder with an interesting dense pastry bread sitting on top. It was good though. My friend enjoyed her salmon cake Benedicts. Just wow. Carve never disappoints. We had the Thai salad and calamari to start (they're not pictured since we ate them up so quickly ). I love Carve! My friend introduced me to Carve for her birthday one year, and never looked back. It's a sister restaurant of Perry's as well, but my favorite amongst the brand. Once you walk in, you're greeted with the butcher room showing all the cuts, near the host stand. They have private rooms for events as well. It's my go-to restaurant for steaks in Austin, especially after Salt & Time closed. Also, don't sleep on the cold-smoked Caesar salad. It's my favorite Caesar salad, ever (and I'm not a big salad lover, but I'll throw down on a Caesar). Drinks are tasty and service is top-notch. Everyone is so friendly! Parking is ample with street and garage across from the restaurant. They have a code for you to get 3 hrs of free parking in the garage through Metropolis app (I think). Pro tip: during special holidays and celebrations, they have prix fixe menus that can be ordered dine-in or ordered for takeout. (i.e. New Year's, Valentine's, etc.). Additionally, on Fridays they have $19 NY strip lunch special with mashed potatoes and a delicious merlot truffle sauce. read more

The Smoked Sliced NY Strip was the star, cooked a perfect medium rare, with great char, and bold flavor throughout. The portion was generous, and the seasoning really let the quality of the beef shine. Service is always friendly, and on point, and the atmosphere is lively, but still easy to relax in. First time at Carve. Decided to stop by for lunch. First impressions was that this is a nice steak place. You can see them preparing the steaks from the check in area. Decided to try the meatloaf cupcakes (yes, cupcakes because they put mashed potatoes on a small round piece of meatloaf, wagyu nonetheless and it looks like a cupcake) and popovers (my favorite). The meatloaf was really good, but not so sure it warranted a $29 price tag. The sauce really makes it so good. Not so sure the wagyu did much for the taste tho. The popovers were obviously not just made since when I opened them, no steam came out. But I have to say, both were really good, despite their shortcomings. I usually don't love when cauliflower tries to disguise itself as other foods but the cauliflower base stayed together, there is tons of cheese on top, and the cold tomato sauce pairs with them perfectly! I'd order these again! CHARTED TUSCAN TOAST TOWER (7/10) - Perfect to share with the table! It comes with 6 large halves that are coated in garlic, cheese, and drizzled with balsamic. The crust is crunchy but the middle is softer. I'd order this again! BUTCHER'S CHEESEBURGER (9/10) - Highly underrated and one of the JUICIEST burgers I have ever had! It's a basic cheeseburger but it's super thick, seasoned perfectly, and comes with fresh toppings including lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. You get to choose between cheddar, Gruyère, or provolone cheese and it comes with ketchup, mustard, and mayo in small side cups. The fries are DELICIOUS... you get a decent service and the seasoning on them is salty with a hint of sweetness! I will definitely order this again! PROSCIUTTO & FIG PIZZA (8/10) - Great to share or as an entree! It is cut into 8 pieces and the toppings are piled on. The crust is slightly chewy, there's plenty of fig spread as the sauce, the prosciutto pieces are spread fairly evenly, and there's a good amount of arugula. I'd order this again! SWEET SRIRACHA BRUSSELS SPROUTS (7/10) - It's a portion meant to share. The Brussels sprouts are definitely on the softer side and they're pretty oily. SMOKED MAC & CHEESE (8/10) - It's a portion meant to share. It's a larger macaroni noodle in a SUPER cheesy sauce topped with crispy breadcrumbs. I don't get a smoky flavor but plenty of cheese! I'd order this again! SMOKY S'MORE (9/10) - This is a must order! They bring it out encased in glass with the smoke and then use a blow torch to toast it table side. I recently went to Carve for the first time with some friends. We had a great time! It is fairly loud in there so it's not a place to go if you want to have a conversation. But it's very lively and we had fun. I started out with the peachy plane drink and I loved it. We did not get any appetizers because we planned on ordering quite a bit of food. I got the wedge, and there wasn't much to it, but it did taste pretty good. One of my friends got the fried pork chop and it was huge! We all tried it and loved it. Two of my other friends split a steak and it was cooked just right! Our sides were the mac & cheese and the mashed potatoes. We all agreed the mashed potatoes were the best of the two. For dessert, we got the flaming cherries jubilee and it was fun watching them set it on fire and all four of us really liked it! This is the first time I can remember in quite a while where everyone really enjoyed all of their food. They didn't rush us, and we ended up staying quite a while. I came to carve for their happy hour on a recent trip to austin. Their happy hour features $9 apps and drinks - perfect for our little catch up with friends. For apps, we ordered the guiltless cauliflower cheesy sticks, salmon cakes, and filet tenderloin toasts. I liked the cauliflower sticks a lot- couldn't even taste that it was "healthier". Very delicious and cheesy. We also enjoyed the salmon cakes as they were filled with fish and paired well with the accompanying sauce. The filet tenderloin toast were alright- a bit dry, but otherwise flavor was good. Off the happy hour menu, we also ordered the truffle fries. This dish was gorgeous and the truffle sauce was delish! Great experience celebrating my daughter's birthday. Our server Ryan was very attentive throughout our meal. Appetizers were delicious and the slaw on the calamari was a surprise highlight. Seeing as the place was starting to pack up as we left, yes it was early by definitely a good time choice. Our server was great and the food came out quick. Speaking of servers, our (Savannah) was great! She not only asked us about food allergies but also wanted to know if we had plans after so they could get food out ASAP. And. She was a riot. We visited Carve on a Friday afternoon to partake in their happy hour offering. Take note that they only offer the happy hour menu in the bar area! We were initially seated in the main dining room, but our first server happily moved us to the bar area after we asked for the happy hour menu. The happy hour is a few appetizers and drinks each offered at a reasonable $9. We tried the cauliflower cheesy sticks, salmon cakes, tenderloin toasts, the daquiri down under, the paloma, and the orange mule cocktail. We also ordered the truffle steak fries, garden style pork chop, and brussels sprouts, which were not on the happy hour menu. Though there were no misses throughout the whole meal, my favorites of the items that we tried were the cauliflower cheesy sticks, salmon cakes, and the paloma. All of the portions were more than enough to share and we all left feeling very satisfied. The restaurant, the bar area in particular, was busy but not too loud and allowed us to catch up with old friends. The service and wait staff is exceptional and the food came out quick. Carve was pretty good! I came for a work dinner with a set menu you select from. The staff were helpful and attentive and the appetizers in particular were memorable - there was a shrimp one that was particularly good! The mains included a salad (I had the wedge salad), and an entree - I had a 14 oz filet mignon steak, it was huge! I took most of the steak to go because I was actually quite full. The sampler trio dessert was also good, came with a smore, a small size of their banana cream pie (that was the best one!) and a small lemon square. Overall: I liked Carve a lot! I've eaten at many nice steakhouses in my life and I can't say it necessarily tops them, they're all kind of in the same tier imo. First timer!!! Came to Carve to celebrate family member's birthday! When I made the reservation via OpenTable I shared that we were celebrating a birthday party; they wished her happy birthday when we checked in with the hostess and gave her a birthday card (very sweet) as well. We started with cocktails and ordered the Carve Board for 4 to share; provides a variety of the various steaks, grilled shrimps, lobster corn dogs, and hog heavens. We also ordered cream of spinach and Brussel sprouts to share. I ordered the fried pork chop, no sauce, added the sautéed mushrooms which were very flavorful. The reason I did not rate 5 stars is for 2 reasons...1. Definitely should offer fresh squeezed lemonade, not Minute Maid and 2. Since there is an onsite butcher the pork chop entree should be offered grilled (not just fried especially because of its large portion size). Oh, there was a really handsome African American man, wearing a Carve tshirt, that wore gold rimmed spectacles sitting towards the back completing paperwork...is he single? This was my first time visiting Carve, and immediately it reminded of a place that I could pop in and visit for lunch or dinner or even a quick drink. It was a nice buzz in the restaurant, so I could hear myself speak but not feel as if it were too quiet to bring my kids. Everyone on staff was very welcoming and our serve Jose was very knowledgeable of the menu. I love when someone can give you ideas of what items are like before you make your final choices. Onto the food! For starters we went with the hog heaven and filet tenderloin toast. My kids loved the bacon heavy hog heaven and I especially enjoyed the filet tenderloin toast. For dinner, the kids had the filet and fries, we ordered the cheeseburger, custom filet, and the salt and pepper shrimp, with smoked mac n cheese, carve mashed potatoes, and siracha Brussel sprouts. Of all the things listed, the mashed potatoes were my most favorite item. I could've ate all of them by myself and almost did. Everything was really good with exception of the salt and pepper shrimp. I don't think that's too bad given everything else that we received. For dessert, we ordered the jubilee cherry pie and banana crème pie. If you don't have Carve on your list, make sure to add it. This restaurant is under the Perry's umbrella, so if you like Perry's you'll be sure to love Carve. It is conveniently located in The Grove shopping center with plenty of free parking options or valet. They have a daily happy hour which is at the bar area only, $19 Friday Specials, Thursday Prime Rib Specials and so much more. I went on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday and the ambiance was perfect for a date night or dressy night out. Upon entering, you are greeted by hosts but also have a clear view of the butchers shop where the lovely steaks are cut and seasoned before being transported to the kitchen's open fire grill. We were seated on the outside patio and it was perfect to soak in the nightly breeze and views. They also have a fireplace if needed on cold days. While they offer a variety of american foods, our focus was on the star of the show, the steak. We ordered the Carve Board for 4 which includes 14 oz. CARVE Smoked Sliced NY Strip, 16 oz. Sliced Caramelized Prime Rib, 12 oz. Center-cut Filet Mignon; 4 Hog Heavens, 4 Shrimp Brochettes, and 4 Lobster Corn Dog Balls. Served with au jus and Truffle Merlot sauce and steaks topped with CARVE Steak Butter. We also ordered sides and this was more than enough for us as we still had left over to take home. It is important to note that the board can only be ordered cooked Medium but don't let that scare you away because it was so delicious! Seasoned to perfection. I hadn't realized I didn't use any sauce until I was almost full. I'd also like to give an honorable mention to the brussel sprouts. Literally, the best I ever had. There was a slight mix up with our to go containers but luckily we checked before leaving. Overall, I'd highly recommend and will be returning soon. read more

GREAT dinner spot in Austin! From the beautiful interior to the delicious courses, Carve is one of my favorite steakhouses in Austin. My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday last night and our server, Dale was awesome. The oysters are delicious -- packed with flavor and cheese! Highly recommend the redfish and NY strip for entrees. Sides are large are defined shareable! While the smoked mac and cheese could use a little salt, the whipped potatoes blew us away! Think homemade but elevated!!! For dessert, we ended with two tequila espresso martini to get us ready for the night. We'll definitely be back to explore the brunch and lunch menus! read more

Hey hey hey -- one time for the birthdaaaayyyysss! I've been a couple of times now, but most recently we celebrated my friend's birthday -- and let me tell you, the night did not disappoint. The energy was buzzing on a Saturday night, packed with a fun crowd -- definitely a spot you'll want to book ahead. We ordered the Carve Board for 4, and it was everything. We dined outside on the tiny patio and had the best time. We shared a cold and crispy wedge salad with a delicious dressing, the Thurs Special prime rib and a carafe of wine. The good....well I'm still trying to think...my smoked New York strip. The bad - everything else. We had a reservation at noon on Sunday. It was busy but nothing crazy. We were brought to our table, nice comfy booth. I'm watching tables get seated, water brought to them, drinks ordered, again this is after we were seated....for over 10 Fking minutes. My husband asked if I wanted to go but said no. I wanted to see how this train wreck would play out. Finally he went to the bar and ordered our water and drinks. A manager came up to him and asked if everything was ok and told her our situation. She walked him back to our table and immediately took our order and had water brought to us immediately. I don't mind waiting for food, but over 10 minutes with no water, no acknowledgment....ZERO. My steak was good - that's all, but his French dip was the worst he's had in town. He is a French dip snob. When there is one on the menu - he orders it. The "Au jus" looked and tasted like it came out of a packet. It was thick like gravy. That's a 1st for us. We have now tried all the Perry's restaurants in Austin and I'm sad to say we will not be visiting any of them again. :-( read more

Carve is an incredibly nice restaurant. The steak is superb, the service was incredible. My only "meh" was this carve board -- for $200 you get this platter, which would be great if everything on it was great. The crab corn dog balls were not good at all, and tasted mostly of fried dough, with no filling. The shrimp was impeccable, and as was the steak. I didn't see any hog heavens? And the prime rib was just okay. I wish when it was dropped off we were given the run down of what everything was as we were just eating things and guessing. Great food though! read more

Nice location and facilities. It's always clean and the food is usually good. However Carve is overpriced. Inconsistent service. Poor adherence to their own standards. Not worth it. Food is good quality, however, at this price point the execution and consistency are the only way to justify the price. When you have their food delivered and they miss important ingredients (sauces, sides, etc.) it makes more sense to just order something simpler for a quarter of the cost. They simply miss the mark. read more
