They have three rooms of seating and half of them were occupied by diners even at this non peak hour between lunch and dinner. We ordered 6 different pizzas to share. We requested they cut it in 12 pieces but they forgot for some of the pizzas. My favorites were the lasagna, funghi, and shrimp pesto in this order specifically. Something about the ricotta with the tomato sauce and sausage + basil really got me. It was also less salty than all the other pizzas. There were only 3 leaves of basil though. I think adding maybe a handful more would make this pizza more complete. The funghi was really rich in umami and also less salty among the pizzas. The Shrimp pesto was a little too salty. The shrimp paired well with the pesto, like a pasta dish. I loved that we could see them make and put the pizzas into the stone ovens. They have some complimentary toppings on the side for folks to grab. My favorites were the garlic and roasted garlic. They didn't restock on the basil. Seems like a pattern. Parking was plentiful. It was the perfect amount of food, with only two slices of the Bianca left over. Next time, though, we're definitely ordering a pepperoni pizza too--sometimes you just need that classic! The scallops were seared perfectly with great texture. The Braised Short Rib Lumache was also delicious, although the beef was a little richer than I personally prefer. We also had the Roasted Salmon with fregola and broccolini, which was cooked well and nicely balanced. Our server was amazing--attentive, helpful, and provided great service throughout the night. A countdown started at 30 minutes left and was displayed on the score screen. The really weird part was at about 10 minutes left, our scores disappeared and never came back. We were still able to play but it was not cool that our whole game's scores were just gone. The time limit made us feel very rushed, which was especially awkward because we ordered food and drinks. The good: As many have said, the best thing about Highland Park Bowl is the beautiful vintage interior design and cool history. Some bites were all Calabrian chile and no tuna and some bites were all tuna and no chile. My companion loved the Rimini more. This might be a one and done for me. If I'm paying $20 for a sandwich, it's gotta wow me like the Lorenzo at Lorenzo.
