It was perfectly seasoned and dressed and with a perfectly cheesy topping! A simple dish but executed so well - Prosciutto pizza - with mozzarella, prosciutto, stracciatella, arugula, truffle oil. Returned after a two-year absence to a place we used to frequent when we lived in the neighborhood. Sat outside and ordered a pizza, a Caesar salad, and a pasta for our daughter. The Caesar arrived within minutes--slightly warm, which was odd. The pizza came out in a reasonable timeframe and was excellent: well-executed Roman-style crust and toppings, exactly as remembered. The pasta, however, was a different story. It took over 45 minutes to reach the table and arrived undercooked, with a visible white uncooked ring when cut in half. After clarifying the issue, it was sent back and a fresh plate arrived about 15 minutes later. By then it was time to leave. The children's pasta ($26) was not comped. Solid pizza and atmosphere, but the service timing and the undercooked pasta (plus the lack of any adjustment on a $26 kids' dish) left a sour note on an otherwise nostalgic visit. read more

The crust was crisp, and the thinly sliced potatoes were seasoned right and savory and comforting. A Tale of Two Italian Nights: Oste is Pure Magic. MASA of Echo Park fell short. After a disappointing service experience at MASA of Echo Park the night before, Oste in WeHo completely blew my daughter and I away. We went in blind to meet a big, chaotic crew--7 humans (including a 3-year-old, 7-year-old, 14-year-old, and a 30-something couple) plus two dogs (one large, one small). By the end of the night, OSTE solidified itself as my favorite Italian restaurant in LA. Every single dish and drink was tasty. We started with loads of warm bread with EVOO, the Burrata Pappa al Pomodoro, and tender meatballs topped with stracciatella. For mains, we shared two stellar pinsas (Anchovy and Margherita), rich Risotto ai Funghi, the seafood squid ink pasta (Frutti di Mare), and classic red-sauce pasta for the kiddos. The drinks were just as hit-heavy: the 30-something couple enjoyed a chilled Lambrusco, the dad of the two younger girls went with an Aperol Spritz, the two youngest girls loved their lemonades, and my daughter and I had some exceptionally tasty mocktails. I cannot say enough about the staff and management of OSTE--they earned every single star. When my daughter and I arrived first, we couldn't find the reservation (it was under a friend's last name, not a first name), so the host kindly put us on the waitlist. Our friends' "10 minutes away" stretched into a half-hour, so we explored some nearby vintage shops. When we checked back in (about 15 minutes after getting on the list), the manager/owner said they could seat my daughter and I inside early so we could relax, sip our mocktails, and munch on bread while we waited for our friends. Then came the curve ball: our friend arrived with a large Labradoodle. Their other small dog was on its way with the rest of the crew. Throwing a two-dog curveball at a busy restaurant could ruin a host's night, but the team didn't blink. They were incredibly gracious, quickly pivoting to set up a table for our whole group (including the dogs) on the patio. Throughout the meal, the servers were genuinely warm, fast, and attentive without ever being pushy. An casual yet upscale vibe with indoor-outdoor seating and a lively, welcoming energy. Between the stained glass windows and carefully selected colorful tiles, you feel instantly transported out of LA. It's vibrant, charming, and effortlessly cool. Parking was a breeze, too--we easily scored free side street parking half a block away on a Sunday around 6:00 PM (though they also have valet and street meter parking). I can't say enough about this place. Every dish we had was fabulous. The funghi pinsa was the star of the show, but the meatballs with stracciatella were also fabulous. The restaurant is a bit noisy so conversations were hard including trying to order with the server. The restaurant could use some sound dampening pads or softer surfaces throughout. They were also so busy that we had to flag people down to order more drinks and food and did not get quality checks as quickly as I would have hoped. Saying that when our server was able to interact with us he was personable and gave great recommendations. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this place, and I'm not really understanding all the rave reviews. Is it awful? No. But is it anything special? I don't think so. This was actually my second visit. The first time, my husband and I stopped in for lunch and had a couple of items that were good, but I left feeling like maybe we just didn't order the right things. Since so many people seem to love this place, we decided to give it another shot. This time we came with a group of four and ordered a variety of dishes. We started with the octopus, tartare, and burrata appetizers. For pizzas, we had the Mortadella Pista and the Prosciutto with Truffle Oil Pista. We also ordered the Cacio e Pepe, mushroom risotto, and the Nutella dessert. The appetizers were okay, but the burrata was definitely the highlight. The pizzas were good and enjoyable, but nothing particularly memorable that would have me planning a return visit just for them. The Cacio e Pepe was decent, but the mushroom risotto was honestly the worst mushroom risotto I've ever had. It tasted like Campbell's cream of mushroom soup had been used as the base. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the drinks were enjoyable, but again, nothing felt especially memorable or exceptional. On a positive note, the prices were fair for what you get. Overall, I personally don't feel the need to come back. It's a perfectly fine meal, but with so many great dining options around, this just didn't stand out to me. read more

We were seated quickly on a Saturday evening which I appreciate, but our server seemed dismissive and eager to rush us through our meal even though we ordered quite a bit of food. We sat outside on their front patio which was pretty but felt a bit crowded. The biggest disappointment may have been the suppli which we started with. I really enjoyed the truffle aioli to dip in, but did not realize that the risotto was extremely mushroom heavy as this was not disclosed on the menu ingredients list, and that made this dish inedible for me personally. Both the potato pizza and the short rib pasta were fine, I just felt like they were extremely bland and under seasoned which was frustrating as everything here is quite pricy. Visited Oste for a nice Sunday lunch. Booked ahead for reservation so we were able to sit with no wait time recommend getting a reservation. For a group of three people, we got two pizzas and one appetizers and it was plenty enough to go around. Ordered the Funghi and the Calabrese pizzas. Among the two I would stick with the Calabrese more than the fungi, but both were good to eat no issues. It was a nice dining experience. Everything with the interior to the nice open window setting in the middle of LA felt nice. Our server explained the menu very carefully and recommended a few of the pizzas which we did order. Also got the Suppli Al Tarturo which was a nice appetizer to get. The truffle aioli sauce is really good and if you pair with the pizza, it's actually pretty good too. My friend and I visited OSTE for our monthly date night. We sat on the patio which was dimly lit for the evening. We both love Italian food, and OSTE is known for their authentic Italian dishes. The only downside was that our table wasn't big enough to fit all of our food and drinks. Baby gem lettuce caesar: So good, so delicious. The garlic bread crumbs really add a nice touch to the dish. Claudia: Our server let us know that OSTE is known for their mussels. Whenever mussels are on the menu, I am ordering them. We both really like white wine mussels, and these really hit the spot. Prosciutto pizza: I'm from Chicago, so pizza in LA is really hard for me to enjoy. But this was incredible. I really enjoyed the thin slices of prosciutto. Started with FIORI DI ZUCCA which are squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta deep fried in a batter. Each bite was so delicious, a good amount of ricotta, and each bite was still super crispy. We also got XXTRA PEPPERONI LOVERS Pinsa. Crust was doughy yet crisp, not greasy at all I would just the right amount of cheese and sauce. So we knew that we would be full, but we wanted to try a couple pastas one red sauce, and one white sauce. The CACIO E PEPE I just the right amount of pepper and creamy sauce, noodles cooked perfectly. PAPPARDELLE ALLA VACCINARA was definitely my favorite, noodles in a braised oxtail ragu. Service was on point, checked on his frequently, but didn't rush us, even though the restaurant was super busy, and just overall very friendly. My dinner at Oste was pretty solid! It's a pretty popular Italian restaurant in LA so be sure to book a reservation in advance. They're known for their Roman-Style "Pinsa" (think pizza, but more flatbread shaped with a very crisp undercarriage and fun toppings). Otherwise they have some classic pasta & Italian dishes, done very deliciously. Started with the Caesar salad - pretty classic. The squash blossoms were super crispy and cheesy inside. For the Pinsa, we got the Funghi (mushrooms). It was topped with truffle oil as well, which gave it a super intense mushroom flavor. I absolutely loved it! I am always on the lookout for good pizza in LA and this delivered for me!! The crispy bottom really elevated it, which I think is a result of the different types of flours they use to make it. And honestly, this size pizza can serve at least 2, if not 3. I also brought some home, threw it in the air fryer, and it was just as good the next day! Do not let a single square inch of this delicious Pinsa go to waste! Also tried the pan seared Branzino which was super light and fresh. The service was great, I felt very well cared for and attended to. The waiters were also very happy to give suggestions on food & wine pairings. The staff were polite and welcoming and the owner even stopped by our table at the end of our night to chat. Everything was incredible, the caesar stood out as well as the burrata, the tomatoes that came with it were sooooo flavorful! We all ordered separate entrees. I also really enjoyed the mortadella pizza. It was Roman style, so the crust was thin and crispy. It reminded me more of a flat bread, and it definitely brought me back to Italy! The caesar salad was cheesy and had some nice toasted breadcrumbs on top. It helped to break up all the carb heavy foods but didn't knock our socks off. The rigatoni was the least impressive of the dishes we ordered. It was cooked nicely al dente but tasted like it could have came from any Italian restaurant.
