Dined in with a group of 10 people on 6/6/26 around 3:00 PM. Plenty of space and big tables for a group. I did come here a year ago, but now they made the pizzas better this time!! Parking: Plenty of space They have toppings on the side and the minced and cooked garlic was so bomb! You need to add that to your pizza! We ordered 6 pizzas. 1. San Gennard - 4/5, peppers and sausage was tasty! 2. Desano - 4/5, mozzarella and the big pieces of pepperoni was tasty! 3. Lasagna - 4/5, good amount of cheese with the smashed meatballs. The ricotta is delicious! 4. Shrimp Pesto Pizza - 4.5/5, really good pizza the shrimp balances the pizza with the refreshing taste and cheese. This is my favorite! 5. Hot Honey pepperoni doppio - 4/5, the hot honey wasn't too hot. I wished it had a little more kick, but still tasty. 6. Funghi e Salsicca - 4.5/5, you cannot go wrong with mushroom on the pizza!!! This and shrimp pesto are highly recommended!

    ITALIAN CHOPPED

Where do I even begin... I was confused before I even walked in. You park, and you're greeted by two random red doors--no , no labels, just vibes. I genuinely wondered if there was a main entrance somewhere else. Then I saw a couple people walk through the right door and thought, "That has to be the employee entrance"... but nope, they didn't look like staff. So I followed. Faith over fear, I guess. You walk into the first room to order, but I came to dine in. I spotted some picnic-style tables through the window and figured I was in the right place. After ordering, you're sent through this dimly lit dining area into a larger dining area. You grab a table, drop your number, and wait. Now here's where it gets... interesting. I look around and see cups, metal plates, and jugs of water just sitting out. I'm thinking, "Am I... supposed to serve myself?" Slightly confused, slightly concerned about the whole setup. But I'm hungry, and I'm definitely not eating a salad with my hands like a caveman, so I grab utensils from what I'll call the "figure it out yourself" station. Let's talk food. Italian chopped salad - 1/5This salad defeated me. No matter how hard I tried, my fork simply refused to stab the lettuce. Texture aside, the flavor was overwhelming--way too much balsamic glaze. It felt like everything was tossed together, drenched, and presented as a masterpiece. It was... not. Bianca pizza - 2/5White pizza with ricotta, made with what I assume is 00 flour. Sounds promising, right? Unfortunately, it wasn't even hot--more like it had been sitting for a bit. Mind you, there were only two other people there. At this point, the theme of the experience became clear: confusion and assumption. I went on a mission to find something--anything--to elevate the pizza. Hot sauce? Nope. Had to ask through the window to the front ordering area, and I was pointed to a "spicy oil" on the table... which wasn't spicy. Alongside it: olive oil, Parmesan, chili flakes, napkins--basically a DIY station again. Needed a box? Same story. Ask, get pointed somewhere, go find it yourself. I stopped in because I've seen people call this one of the best pizza spots in Los Angeles. That's going to be a hard no from me. I can easily name at least three Italian spots that do it better. Honestly... I almost hate to say it, but I'd take Papa John's or Domino's over this experience. Would I return or even order to go? That's a no for me, dawg. Does this place have potential? Absolutely. It's a huge space with a cool concept--it just needs a reworked menu and a clearer system. Maybe even full service. That said, it could work well for large groups... just don't come expecting top-tier pizza.

We have been back multiple times since my last review. This time we ordered the Margherita Classica VPN, 16 inch (looks bigger to me) $27.00, which has San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala, pecorino romano, and 4 large basil leaves. The dough is cold fermented, the classic way for a Margherita pizza, and here it is fermented for 72 hours. The taste reflects it. The Americana, a new york style pie, was also ordered in a 12 inch size for $12 as it was a lunch special. The Margherita is the best in LA in addition to being baked in a wood burning stove. Roasted garlic is available in the back near the ovens, as is salt and pepper and other spices. Large casual to very casual restaurant, large free parking area.

    MARINARA
    Ale M.

An honest review: Genuinely impressed by how beautifully balanced and flavorful the pizza was. The crust struck a great balance between char and chew: crisp at the edges, tender within, with a subtle smokiness that carried a distinct hint of ash in every bite. The marinara (bright and well seasoned) on both the "Marinara" and the "Americana" complemented the dough, the cheese, and toppings perfectly. And while I found myself wishing the pizza were slightly larger for the price, it's difficult to fault the evident quality of the ingredients and the execution. Truly, the craftsmanship is unmistakable, and that alone justifies much of the cost. The restaurant itself offers a spacious "seat yourself" area, and the staff bring the food directly to your table. From the dining room, you can watch the ovens (seemingly imported from Italy) at work, adding a sense of theater to the experience. Most impressive of all, the pizza arrived to our table in under 10 minutes. Parking: there is a large parking lot on-site, making the visit convenient from start to finish. Some quotes shared at the table: "This isn't pizza, this is art." "It just tastes so pure." "When I die, I want this with me in heaven... or in hell with the ovens." "We're coming here for your birthday."

BEST. PIZZA. EVER. Deacsno is my favorite. Great place for adults and kids. Good selection on drinks and beer.

LN HOT HONEY PEPPERONI DOPPIO Meatball calzone
    Nicolas J.

Definitely one of the better pizza spots I've had. Tried the hot honey pepperoni which is WORTH THE BUY. In a crazy part of LA navigation so traffic getting here was a nightmare but pizza was phenomenal. Got a meatball calzone as well to try since I was between the two and the calzone was rather disappointing. Pizza was so good I almost ate the whole thing myself, the calzone sorry to say I wouldn't get again at least not the meatball one. They offered gelato, I'll definitely try that in a future visit. Large parking lot. Service was kinda quick. I got my pizza first my calzone came minutes later.

This review is solely based on to go. Got a couple of pizzas: Margherita DOP, Original Carnevale and Desano. I enjoyed them all. I also like how they provided instructions on how to reheat the pizzas and I followed it. It was pretty good. I believe that if I dine in instead of ordering to go, it would have tasted much better.

This might be my new favorite Neapolitan pizza spot. Casual ordering--you grab a number and find a table. Plenty of seating with bench-style tables, and the place has a cool factory/brewery vibe. Huge menu, so the hardest part is deciding what to get, but everything sounds good. They also have a solid beer selection with pitchers, sangria, and even gelato. Came with a group of 8 on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. There was no wait to order or find a table. Staff was chill and friendly, and food came out fast. We shared a bunch of pizzas, a calzone, and the meatball appetizer, all packed with flavor. The crust of the pizza was the highlight. It was a perfect balance of chewy and crunchy with great flavor. Favorites were the Funghi and Lasagna pizzas. I really like how open the space is and you can watch them cook in the huge kitchen. Water and to-go boxes are self-serve. It's dog- and kid-friendly, and there is a huge parking lot with plenty of spots (extremely rare for LA, especially in east Hollywood). Definitely worth the drive. I'll be back.

Margherita Pizza D.O.P. With extra basil

GOOD PIZZA & WINE ================= My husband and I decided to venture out of our neighborhood for lunch last Sunday, September 28th, and I am glad we did. My hair stylist recommended DeSano Pizza Bakery because her boyfriend is from Italy and is a bit of an Italian food snob. I thought my husband would like it since he is a bit of a food snob in general. He never reads my Yelp reviews so don't be concerned for me lol. It seemed like a long way from home, but it was only about ten miles, so it was a breeze getting there on a Sunday. We arrived at about 11:25 a.m. and the outside looked like a ghost town. The parking lot was locked and there were no cars inside. I thought maybe they weren't open, so we pulled over and called. They were open and they just needed to open the gate. It is nice that they have a big parking lot, especially in that area where parking is scarce. We walked in and the overhead menu display and beverage options are well laid out. We decided to get the margherita pizza with a little more cheese. It's called Nap Margherita D.O.P.. D.O.P. stands for Denominiazione di Origine Proteta, which is Italian for Protected Designation of Origin. The other version is called a Nap Margherita Classica VPN. which stands for Verace Pizza Napoletana. This means this restaurant has been certified in making their pizzas according to specific, centuries old traditions from Naples Italy. I was thrilled that they had lots of options for wine and those options didn't break the bank. I got two good glasses of Malbec for $8.00 each and I was a happy camper. My husband opted for their canned Diet Coke. He's a Diet Pepsi drinker and we actually had one in the car for his majesty. Trust me. I have learned my lesson after thirty something years. Our pizza came out so quickly I barely had time to sit down. There were some kids at the next table over making their own pizzas which looked fun. Our pizza was very good. I ate some of the cold leftovers the next day as I love cold pizza too. I would love to organize a Yelp hike again at the Griffith Park Observatory and go to DeSano for lunch. That would be perfect.

I visited on a Tuesday afternoon, and ordered to go. Pro: -quick service, -tasty sauce, -charred flavor enhances -huge parking lot -cute space with ordering counter upon entering, and tables in the next room over for dine in -large slices Considerations: -I was quickly given my pizza then he turned and moved away. I called him back to ask for cheese & peppers. He quickly left again before I could ask for other needed items So I had to wait again to ask for paper plates and napkins. -Most of the flavor is in the sauce & crust, not noted in the meat. -seems pricey to me

Everything was yummy! The food was delivered right away. We ordered pizza, calzone, meatballs and cannoli (pistachio and traditional) I love that there is plenty of parking. Bummer they don't do reservations for the main room on the weekend, they offered a private room with min $500 food & drinks however they cannot accommodate our guest on wheelchair tables are too high. But we still love the food here.

    Burnt Nutella Dessert Pizzas
    Suzy Q.

The LN capricosa was very good and I would give it 4 stars however the ash covered crust spoiled it. Pompeii pizza #1 The Nutella desert pizza was burnt and also covered in ash. It deserved a BIG FAT zero. Pompeii pizza #2 Although the manager tried to make it up to us so we ordered Pepperoni pizza and I hate to say it was very mediocre. Except for the salty pepperoni it was bland as can be. No patrons at lunchtime and the service was fast.

I noticed you now offer gluten free crust. Can you share the ingredients?

I was at DeSano's last night and was informed that their gluten-free crust is made out of rice and is $3 as an add-on to a regular pizza. I think that they said brown rice but you would have to double check to confirm.

Have they shut down the Santa Monica Blvd location?

We are open only for pick up or delivery through our partners; doordash, postmates, grubhub, caviar or uber eats.

They were closed up when I drove past last weekend and no one is answering the phone tonight. Where'd they go?

Any updates on the parking lot under construction? I've assumed customers are supposed to street park, but we just haven't gone since it started.

When we ate their, they had a small parking lot open (maybe 10-12 spaces) directly east of the building and on the same property. I don't recall seeing one under construction but if you didn't get a spot in the lot there was the street parking.

Have you added gluten free pizza/menu items?

Hello Brittany. Though we don't have a gluten-free crust as of now, we do have plenty of items on the menu that are gluten-free. I would recommend the Caprese for Two or one of the salads. We are experimenting with a gluten-free crust, but are… Read more

    Can you order individual slices?

Our apologies, we do not do slices. It just doesn’t work for Napoletana style (thin crust) pizza.

Does anyone know if they use egg in the dough? My son has an anaphylactic allergy to egg. Thanks!

The dough is made from flour, water, yeast and sea salt only. Absolutely no egg.

Will I be served a pizza that was baked IN THE OVEN for 90 seconds or less when the doors are open at 11:30AM? I've been to too many "Neapolitan" pizzerias where the ovens are NOT at full temp until evening.

Yes, we can cook the pizza in 90 seconds. We open at 11:30 am and the ovens are ready to go at 11:30 am.

Do you have gluten free pizza?

No gluten free pizza. However, we are working on more gluten free options. We do have salads and platters like the anti pasto or the caprese for two.

Does DeSano offer BYOB? If so, what is the corkage charge? Thank you.

    $10 corkage fee

Is it still BYO? Is there a corkage fee?

Cocktails are slightly limited as it is not a full bar, but they do have options. The frozen Spritz was very flavorful, more fruit forward and would be perfect in a hot day. The Nonna's Medicine had a nice complexity to it with the flavors peeking their heads out at different times through the process. For food we started with the crudo, mussels and grilled oysters. The crudo was very fresh and had a lot going on with it's simplicity. Just a great bite. The mussels were decent but really didn't stand out in any way. The grilled oysters, however, had flavor and texture, with a Parmesan crust on top and the oyster and juice underneath. Very good! For pizza, they are almost like little personal focaccia pizzas, cut into four slices. We tried the mushroom, pepperoni and white pizzas. The mushroom has a garlic cream sauce and herb mix with Parmesan. You definitely get the mushrooms, as they are ample, but they do not over power the pizza. Just a good blend of flavors in each bite. The white comes with Japanese potato, fennel, mozzarella and pesto. Another really great bite with the potatoes not overpowering everything else. Finally, the pepperoni with spicy honey. The spicy honey is more like spicy marinara honey sauce, but it works. Could have used more of that as it came on the side. The pizza itself, with mozzarella and pecorino tasted great. Maybe that focaccia is the move? Overall, De La Nonna did not disappoint. Everything was very nice, and sitting on the patio when the weather is perfect is always a move. I would say to skip the mussels but, everything else, give it a try!

In the same vein, we stuck with a similar style of food and ended up at Propaganda. There was little to no wait, which was pleasant. It was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. The focaccia bread and salad came out first, and both were good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the bread, though my only qualms were that the bread was quite oily and the butter and salt were just a tad bit too salty for my liking. The Insalata Mista salad was solid. Good flavor, good dressing-to-salad ratio, and a surprisingly good portion size. As far as pizza goes, the Margherita was good. Tasty, moist, and a nice crunch on the crust. I found it to be enjoyable, though I may have enjoyed more fresh basil on this. I did find it better than the Boscaiola. I got the black truffle honey add on, and it does not go well on this pizza in my opinion. There was virtually no taste of truffle to me, and more of just an aftertaste of oily sweet honey. This was a miss. It's hard to say whether the base pizza was good without it because the flavor profile was just too overpowered by the aftertaste. The Arts District is definitely coming up with new upscale dining establishments, and I'm there for it. I think this is a solid addition. Though this is a wine bar, I don't generally drink, so my review is based purely on the food. Results of their drinks, which is quite an extensive list, may be to your liking! They do have an inexpensive three wine flight, for reference!

It was a bit spicier than expected, so be prepared to *actually* taste the heat when you order this one! It's tasty and the crust for this one was also banger, but (IMO) pales in comparison to the Sicilian. Would gladly come again for the Sicilian!

Located in Little Tokyo. A solid alternative in the area. Across the street from the Metro station makes it great for a convenient grab and go. On Friday and Saturday they are open late, which was a game saver for us after we returned to the hotel after an LA Galaxy game. I recommend the Sicilian pizza. I also enjoyed the bbq chicken. My son devoured the cheese slice. Service was nice.

Nice name, but when I see menus of any cuisine that go out of their way to offer vegan and gluten free versions of everything, it tends to put me off. I know that's an unfair prejudice, but I always assume it's more of a healthy food place for people who complain about regular food than a real tasty joint. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Now that I've tried their fantastic pizza, my only sadness is that they are located in DTLA, where finding parking even to run in and pick up things to go is always difficult. So, we were here at first not for the food but because my teen son's death metal band, Institutionalized, was playing a show with the very popular super cool local metal band Diabology. But, hey, if you're there might as well grab something before you leave, right? So We got a cheese pie, which was excellent. Also tried a slice of their white pie, which was garlicky goodness. What really sold us, though, was the Sicilian pie we got. As born and bred New Yorker transplants who have been here a long time, we have never found a fantastic Sicilian. Good, sure, but never great. The pies are never thick enough as far as the breading. Here it was as close as we've ever got. And like the other pizza, the taste was excellent. And, as native New Yorkers, we know our pizza! Strongly recommended! Can't wait to get another Sicilian pie in the near future with some toppings.

I finally went back and tried one of their vegan pastas I hadn't tried before, and there was meat in it (pancetta). I literally am feeling sick to my stomach--I'm pescatarian + non-dairy and stopped eating meat in 2013 so I'm sure you can imagine. The customer service was amazing and the cashier who helped me, Melissa, was so apologetic and sweet (obviously wasn't her fault), but this is just another warning to anyone who is vegan and considers coming here. I also came when they were about to close and already had to wait like 15min longer than they said so there's not even anything else open this late for me to find other food. Very disappointing and I will not be coming back for good this time. If I could give separate stars for customer service, I would give them 5 stars but this was unacceptable on the cook's part. Do not risk it if you are vegan.

We showed up late on a Friday so we weren't gonna be able to eat inside. No issue we when to the window and got three slices. The tomato pie with ricotta, the Sicilian corner, and the special which had chorizo and green sauce of some kind. We sat in my car and took a bite of each slice and ... wow. Everything was amazing. UH MAY ZING. Our favorite was the Sicilian corner but honestly, it was all great. We even ordered the cheese cake for dessert and it was dense and delicious. I will for sure be back and am excited to try some other selections.

The pizza reminded me of my favorite pizza spot in San Francisco, Golden Boy Pizza. $6 a slice is definitely pricey but it was worth it. It was warm and flavorful, really hit the spot. Will definitely go again and try to dine in. I'm very intrigued to try the desserts.
