    BBQ Okra

This place had highs and lows. Let's start with the highs. Great initial service. Seated quickly and super kind host that got us a happy hour menu fast so we could get a discount. The atmosphere is enchanting. The lows. Literally everything after we were seated. Our appetizer was ok, we got the BBQ okra, a little messy and hard to eat. Tasted good and the lemon aioli was surprising. I would not order again if not on the happy hour menu. Half way through our appetizer we finally got our bar drinks. In full transparency there were only 2 other tables going at that time. We spent an hour there just on drinks and apps and were underwhelmed even with the happy hour prices. We ended up not ordering dinner because of the limited menu. I did hear there is a heavier menu that comes out later in the night but that would have been a nice option at 7pm

My wife and I went on a recent Tuesday evening around 5:30. Not another soul in the dining area. There were a few folks in the bar. A couple other tables joined us after a while. The space has the warehouse vibe (lots of hard surfaces) and was very clean. There is a small stage but no live music on this night. This maybe more of a later evening place with more of a focus on the liquor than the food (limited items on the menu). The server was friendly, prompt and ran down the specials for us. I had the burger/fry basket, and my wife splurged on the chicken fried steak. The burger was average, and the fries were the coated variety which I like. The chicken fried steak was huge but again just average. Might go back when there is music and throw back a few brews.

My husband was craving a chicken fried steak so we decided to try this new restaurant. The chicken fried steak comes with peas. Not sure why peas? Nobody eats out for peas. We asked about swapping the peas for green beans. When we received the check, we were charged $2 extra for the vegetable change. I understand up charging for changes but the server "should" always share this information immediately. Green beans are not worth an up charge! So now an already overpriced $24 item was now $26. He said the steak was good but that the breading and fry was not. It was flat and flavorless. I ordered the chicken basket. The fry seemed much better on it. It came with fries and 1 onion ring, which the onion ring was probably the best item. Overall, average experience.

New location in a really cool building, very tastefully remodeled with touches of the old with new. The video I saw promoted by @aventuresinoklahoma on IG. When I saw the macaroni and cheese I was ALL IN and very excited. The place is right down the street from the rail yard and looks like a copycat version but smaller and not in as good of a location. We were really excited to try the food because the chef is supposed to be relatively known for winning some national TV cooking contest tv shows. We ordered the candied pepper bacon as an appetizer, pot roast Mac and cheese and the burger basket. The bacon came out in 1 thick piece rather than thick slices which was weird but interesting. There wasn't much candy flavor, nor pepper and it didn't have much of a "bark". It was tough, chewy and fatty. Just Meh Then the main course came out. The restaurant smelled so good with the smell of the burgers and my GF loves a burger so we were happy to try it. I love good Mac and cheese but most places overcook the noodles that make them mushy. First impression of her burger was very basic . The flavor was underwhelming. Nothing to write home about. My Mac and cheese didn't look like it had any cheese in it. There was a lack of the onions or pieces of pot roast as well. You know how cheddar cheese is yellow? Well, wouldn't Mac and cheese be yellow as well and cheesy? The noodles looked dry, the sauce looked like a stroganoff cream sauce with bits of pot roast. Great flavor, no cheese, needed salt and pepper and came out warm, but not hot. My biggest compliment on this was the macaroni noodles were not overcooked like 99% of places. When the server, Charisma, asked how our meal was I told her the truth. She reported it to the owner and found out her boyfriend, who she was embarrassed to admit, had just started working there and was the one who cooked it. She apologized profusely and offered to make it right. I didn't have much faith that if they didn't get it right the first time that they could get it right the second time. She noticed that the noodles didn't look right, the bacon looked undercooked and made us feel validated for our less than impressive first experience. The most disappointing thing to find out was that the chef, who was in charge of the place had been hanging out by the bar socializing with staff the entire time from when we came in to when we left and never once came over to apologize or try to make it right. This is a glaring lack of leadership. You have a new restaurant that's 6-7 weeks old, you're not working in the back, you're not managing the staff and not taking ownership for the lack of standards in your place tarnishing your reputation. Knowing this was not the chef's best foot forward, I'd considering going back to give it another shot. But for $61 before tip and $75 after, it was very disappointing but hoping next time it will be a better experience. Could be a really cool place, especially if they have live music on Saturday nights if the chef is the one doing the cooking and maintaining the standards that won him the 2 awards on the TV shows. Long story short, we love to support local businesses and this place could be SPECIAL if the leader steps up instead of acting like and entitled prima donna who can't be bothered with anything other than praise and adoration.

Let me start by saying I don't give out 1 star reviews often. It has to be really bad for me to give a 1 star review. The Old Ice house was on a list of restaurants that our friend group had on our list to try so when we had someone in our group with a birthday, we chose the Old Ice House. With a party of 13, I wanted to make reservations early. Their website uses Resy. But for a party 13+ it says when you try to make a reservation that you need to call or email them and gives an email address. I sent the Old Ice house an email on 4/11/25 and I also called them on Friday April 11th. No one answered the phone and I never got a response to my email. On the 14th I emailed again. On the 15th I tried to call. Over the course of that week I sent two email and had called 5 times and nothing. I then thought maybe they've gone out of business. So I went to the local foodies page and the all things local page and asked. Everyone was super helpful and said no they were still open. A few people suggested I go to the restaurant to make the reservation, others suggested I message them. So I messaged them. I finally heard from someone on the 17th. See picture below of the message they sent me along with the RESY Screenshot of the actual reservation. We were all set finally and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt based on their message and move on. The day before our reservation I received a confirmation text. I confirmed but I knew at that point, we were short a couple of people so I wanted to call them just to let them know that we didn't need 13 seats. Guess what? They never answered their phone. Honestly, this makes me nervous. I'm not feeling too good about this. Admittedly, I'm now going into this with a tainted view. We all get there and remember the picture of our Reservation. It says in all CAPS, PRIVATE ROOM. Nope. See the picture of our table in the main dining room. We did not get the PRIVATE Room, someone else did. They seat us and next to us there was a table for 6. Some friends at that end of table had set some gifts for the birthday girl on it. The host/manager/owner came over and according to multiple people at that end he very rudely told them, they could not put stuff there because they need it for seating. Of course they moved the stuff and it wasn't intentional. They were hugging and saying hello, sat some stuff down and wasn't really thinking about it. None of the people in our party knew about my tainted view as this was supposed to be a happy occasion. So they told me about his rudeness not knowing what had already happened. And no one was seated there for over an hour. Do you really want to be rude and snappy to people just arriving. Come on guy, its sets a tone! We all ordered drinks, a bottle of wine, appetizers, fried green tomatoes, charred okra, deviled eggs and the cowboy caviar. Everything was good but the cowboy caviar. It was just basically black eyes peas with a little bit of tomatoes, jalapeños, it was supposed to have onions and cilantro but I didn't see any or taste any with tortilla chips. They put the chips around the inside edge of the bowl so the chips were soggy by the time we got them. There were 4 of us that ordered the Old Fashion. The 4 of us know what an Old Fashion should look and taste like. There was so little bourbon in it that it barely had color. See pictures. It was a lot of ice and simple syrup with a splash of bourbon for color. Finally it's time to order entrees......We had all been to their website and seen the pictures of their food. I was super excited about the stuffed pepper after seeing the pictures. It looked crispy and tasty on a bed of black eyed peas. We ordered and then we waited and waited ......and waited......and waited. Our wait person brought 4 people at the table their entrees, they waited on everyone else to eat, another 15-20 minutes later they brought all but one of us our food. The 4's food was now cold and soggy. The one waited another 15 minutes before he got his. That stuffed pepper I was so excited about wasn't coated in anything like the picture ( I included both) . It was just a plain poblano pepper sitting in way too many black eyed peas, it was not good. Our friends that ordered the Indian Tacos all said the bread was too thick and dry. That the meat had no flavor and it needed a salsa or sauce of some kind. I personally was never asked if I wanted another drink although I probably would have declined at that point. The rest of the group said the food was so so. No one in our group thought it would be worth a trip back. All in all it was a bad experience for us and I honestly hate that. I was so excited about this restaurant and it was a total let down.

    Butternut soup

Dined here on NYE and the food was delicious. It's a cozy venue, wait staff were attentive, drinks were divine (yes, a really good cosmo!), and food was scrumptious. Butternut soup was creamy, prime rib cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious and lastly a yummy cheesecake topped with salted caramel sauce. Decadent!

The crowd was a fun mix, from early 20s to more seasoned patrons. I can definitely see it being a great place to explore with a group, bouncing from one themed space to another. I'm curious to come back on jazz night to see whether it leans more speakeasy than bar. One of the bartenders even shared a bit of the building's backstory: it was originally a house in McAlester, OK, transported all the way to OKC. Apparently it may have once been a nursing home and possibly a brothel. If only those walls could talk!

To make matters worse, I have both my signed purchase slip and itemized receipt in my possession. However, management didn't even bother to respond to my concern. It was an extremely memorable experience due to our friend with M.S. having a flare-up that completely changed the trajectory of our night. Naturally, I was quite coherent and spent a great deal of time tending to my friend. Only 2 of us even had a single drink, and we each have our purchase slips for our $12.48 beverages. Well, mine was $22.48 when you add in the tip. Honestly, I feel completely taken advantage of, considering that I tipped a generous $10 on the one drink item I had. Total slap in the face. I left the night with a relieved smile, not ever expecting that I'd be going through this later. As a former bartender and server of 18+ years, I do not take customer service lightly at all. I can definitely understand that transaction mistakes can happen--we're only human, but at least have the decency to own up to your mistake and make it right. Have enough care to at the very least, respond to a guest's concern. Don't, instead, try to pass off someone else's items onto another person. That's just unethical and wrong.
