This was a really cool place. You can go into an old safe. Food was really good for a small town.

Great place! I have gotten to know everyone and my wife and I have a great time especially at the crawfish boil on Saturdays.

But you absolutely positively want to avoid the two restaurants on the side. The kolaches and baked goods at Nonnie's Bakery are nearly inedible. Given my bad experiences with Nonnie's, I studiously avoided having anything to do with Papa G's. * * * Well, circumstances are circumstances, And for reasons that would come out of a hackneyed situation comedy script, I absolutely positively was stuck taking a dinner at Papa G's. My earlier instincts had been 100% on target. As they say, "The Truth Comes Out in the Wash." * * * I had a small but perfectly acceptable chicken fried steak. The toast that came with it was fine. The price was eminently reasonable. The lady behind the counter was nice. The deal ruiner? The Tater Tots. Looking around at the other tables, I saw the French Fries were exactly the same way. They serve a lot of Tater tots and French Fries at Papa G's. The potato products are Way way way overcooked in the fryer, They are greasy. They taste burnt and unpleasant. I was hungry and this was the only food I was going to get in a while, So I tried to make a go of it. I should have left every Tater Tot except the first one on my plate. * * * Now to be fair, Truckers LOVE The Rocking G. There are a lot of trucks parked in the back and the truckers hang out throughout the complex. The food is inexpensive, and the gas may be inexpensive too. They have good showers, and the physical building is nice. I did NOT have the burgers. Since my chicken fried steak was okay, the burgers may be okay. * * * But given the rough time I was having keeping the meal I had from a) coming up the wrong direction earlier in the evening, or b) departing my system in an disorderly way the next day, I am not that eager to give the burgers a turn at bat.

It's very country looking, so that was appealing. We started with the fried pickles for an appetizer to share. Our group was a party of 3. The pickles were a perfect split for us. The ranch served with the pickles had a tartar sauce undertone taste. It was pretty good. We all had the sweet tea and lemonade mix. It was refreshing. I ordered the regular JW's burger on a classic white bun. The burger was okay. There was no special seasoning to it. I wasn't able to order it medium. From the looks of it, it was "done", so that is a little too done for me. I like mine a little pink. They use leaf lettuce. I prefer shredded. The pickles on my burger were cut lengthwise, and 2 of the strips still had the outer skin on them. Not a fan of that. The fries were good. They had a nice crunch to them. The service was great at JW's. Our drinks were never empty, the food came out fast, and our waitress was very nice. You can't get better than country service. It was a nice change from Houston where everything is hustle and bustle. We all three split a piece of coconut pie. It was okay, but to be fair, I am not a pie person. My coworkers thought it was terrific. If I am out that way again and decide to stop in, I will order something different. Maybe the chicken fried steak. The neighboring table ordered it and it looked good! Our bill for the 3 of us was $71 and some change before tip. That seems on point for 1 appetizer, 3 drinks, 3 entrees, and 1 piece of pie. It was crowded, especially for a weekday after the lunch rush in the country, so they must be doing something right.

Nothing fancy, but the food is delicious and the service is courteous and attentive. We came in on a Tuesday evening and it was packed. Fortunately we got there earlier and were able to get seated immediately. Very family friendly as evidenced by the fact that they pulled an infant carrier stand out for our baby. I will say that the prices are on a steeper side; however, the portions are also generous. We had a pleasant meal here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good, southern comfort food.

I'm also a first time mom and not working currently so my funds are low for spending. The staff (shout out to the ones I've met so far) Kevin, Brittany and Terrance took the time to explain how the cafe works. so many delicious options, I went with the jalapeno popper omelette which did not disappoint. Brittany helped navigate a coffee I would enjoy and I did! Try the Vietnamese iced coffee so good. my daughter and I sat outside and met Terrance, who came right up and introduced himself. made sure we were doing good and dj'd some great tunes. I'm not sure who was at the counter today but she was lovely. thank you all for the experience and great food

You place your order and then take a seat and when they bring out your food, you get a little pocket to put cash into to pay whatever you want. The food was great and it benefits addiction recovery. My only complaint is that they really really really need to put fans on the patio cause I was swatting away flies the entire time I was eating. I wouldn't eat outside again. I went for breakfast and had a 3-meat omlette which I actually couldn't even finish cause I was full. It was a little weird getting the apple juice in a cup full of ice but I guess I could have gotten more if I wanted it. I'd like to back for lunch sometime.

I was pretty delicious and juicy, but nothing spectacular about it. The portions are large for a very affordable price so that's a huge plus. Beefmaster fries wasn't that great, but the fried pickles were nice and crispy and very flavorful. The steak was pretty flavorful, but it was slightly overcooked so make sure you go 1 under on what you actually want. I wanted a perfect medium so I should've went medium rare, but instead I got medium well with some pieces well done. The avocado chicken breast had very little avocado, but as dry as the chicken breast looked, it was actually pretty juicy. Overall, for cheap eats and for some pretty good food, come support this business and bring a patch if you are first responder as it appears they collect them on their wall. I should've brought my patch from Hawaii for them. The staff were all friendly and fast. Lots of parking outside and lots of tables to dine on.
