As an Orange County native, I can't believe I never even came to this place even when I seen it on Bar Rescue but I'm glad I finally stopped by The Olive Pit. From the moment I walked in, Cass (sorry if I spelled that wrong) made the experience. She greeted me right away, super friendly, and had great hospitality the entire time. You can tell she actually cares about the customers and the vibe of the place, which makes a big difference. The atmosphere was solid, drinks were on point, and overall it just felt welcoming. I'll definitely be coming back especially on Sundays and Tuesdays when Cass is working. read more

First time going on 6-12-26 around 11pm. We never got our drinks. We waited for like 20 minutes. There was a older guy next to us he said he was Ex military. He asked the bartender when you get a chance can you please get me a Hennessey , the bartender throw the coaster at his chest and said sure. She walked away and started to take shots at another table. Left the bar area unattended with a line of people waiting for drinks. She was very angry for some reason. This is a total locals only dive bar. Don't come here if you are expecting anything else. I totally stuck out like a sore thumb, but I was ok with it as I was here with friends who love to frequent this place and that's all that mattered to me in that moment. I loved their adorable kitschy 1960's wall paper and the juke box played everything under the sun. It was a slow day (mother's day), but there were still locals here hanging out. Played a couple of rounds of pool, and music and the service from the bartender Kass was friendly, fast, attentive and overall great. This place is tucked away in the back of the building (wasn't sure I was going the right way until I saw the sign). I'm not sure they have a food program or food at all, which is a missed opportunity, but the bartender was great and we didn't come for food so it didn't make a difference or take away from our overall experience. read more

Bartender is drunk. Skips customers and put her foot on the bar as she skips people to serve what seems to be locals as she talks to them by name. Then acts like she doesn't care about paying customers. This is the Friday night shift where she should make money and be most attentive. No idea who she is but the couple next to me also felt the same disrespect, so she pored them a shot and said "tell me when to stop" for the pore. It's wild. Bad taste, shame on her the bartender who was threatened by the only girls in the establishment.. apparently had our male counterparts escorted us in we would have been accepted. Will never think to step foot there again! Maybe you should list your establishment as "men only" then us girls would know never to come there. read more

This is the dive-iest of dive bars. My friends and I used to frequent this bar a few times a week. The female bartenders are great, the drinks are cheap & strong (hence the two stars they at least deserve), but my friends and I stopped coming here because of the patrons who terrorize this bar. We were having a good time and minding our own business until one of them, (who was good friends with the male bartender) pissed on my friend's car, tried to act apologetic, then took it back as a joke for him and his degenerate friends. Instead of the male friend bartender intervening and mediating like what a professional would do, he had all 20 of their friends surround us (I was with 7 male friends) and threaten to beat our asses. After all was said and done, I never felt more disrespected in my life. I loved this bar, but unfortunately, I will never return again. read more

So, this really happened. We had five girls that were in charge of a co- batchelor/ batcheloret party. The five of us ( all girls) arrived to the Olive Pit, about 5: 45pm. We went early to meet our guests, and to make sure we had a table for the night events!!! Two of the five girls went to the bar once we arrived. The other three broke- off from the group, to find the bathroom. We walked to the side of the bar where it was only pool tables... Oops, turned around and went back to the right and found the little girlsroom. As we were in the bathroom, thinking the rest of the group was getting our drinks and grabbing a table, we got kicked out. Now. Keep in mind, we hadn't been drinking. We just arrived. When asked why, the answer was from the bartender was,"because, you didn't stop and greet me"?!? " wait...what??? Never. Ever. Has this ever happend to me, or anyone I know. This was just obsured. Now, if we were drunk or inappropriate....okay, totally get it. Who wants to deal with that.. I also, called to follow-up, so I could really understand what the heck happend. Same answer. This is was a Firefighter/ Law enforcement group that would have spent tons of money. The bartender was just out of her head. Completely out of line, and no concept of guest service. She didn't even ask...just tossed us out.I've been to the Olive Pit a handful of times, and never had such unrealistic experience. Good luck...I'm telling everyone I know about this. Food was so so Presentation was so so Service was terrible!!! I have yet to see a waiter with a worse attitude. A "No pita bread for you" Soup Nazi! A sit down Greek restaurant should flambé Saganaki at the table and Saganaki should be served with pita bread. When our party of 4 requested pita bread, he brought a bowl of 4 small pita triangles and tossed it on the table. No bread plates were provided - had to ask for those too. Anywho, at first, it reminded me of that scene in Swingers, you know the one where they get in The Derby thru the rear entrance. It felt like that...I parked in the quiet front lot, walked down the side drive way to an even larger parking lot, I began to hear muffled music in the distance getting louder as I walked closer. I spot a couple of kids smoking outside and then a path of light consisting a mix of fluorescent and neon lighting. Then the sound of bottles clinking, laughter and conversation begins to sooth in a feeling of familiarity, a feeling of being. I walk in the front door, quickly spot some friends and make my way over to them. The rest of the evening is history, only to be repeated through memory and bit info on mega pixels. Oh...on a side note, I was tackled and mauled upon arrival. - The Bar: Well, it's quite spacious and comfortable. I like that they have almost every form of bar entertainment there is...check it: - Juke Box - Video Games - Pool Table - Dart Board - a Foosball table - and yes...even an Air Hockey Table The O.P. gets the Golden Sombrero in me book for all this entertainment and we haven't even gotten to the booze or the dames yet !! The locals seem to keep to themselves, kinda young too...mid 20's. It seemed that the locals didn't mind that our group took over their little oasis. I'm a dive enthusiast. After all, FERNS (the smallest dump/dive in Long Beach) was my old safe haven where I'd get annihilated on anything cheap and stiff. Now, for me to venture out to god knows where and look for a place that really has no sign or indicator of its existence is quite frustrating. Hard to find...but we made it in one piece. Orange is so dangerous. The Olive Pit -- yes, this place is a dive -- a fuckin nose dive into BRO-tard-sportsbar-Sahara Stripper after hours with puke on top. Not an instant hit nor did it rank up there in my top DIVE BARS list, but for the cause this particular night, I was a trooper and went along for the trailer ride. My initial dismay with this place was due to the fact that the only Vodka option they offered me was Smirnoff. It wasn't until I was two drinks in that Grey Goose was presented. Yes, I do discriminate against my spirits. It IS my buzz and it IS my wallet. If anything is OVER-HYPED, it would be the fact that people rave about drinking cheap shit. Sorry, I'm not 19 years old with a $20 budget and a liver made of steel. I am 30 and my cheap-shit drinking days are OVER. Most dive bars carry top shelf or decent liquor and when the Grey Goose miraculously appeared, I felt somewhat content. I'd rather drink smooth and wake up feeling fine than drink rough and have a gnarly headache and the shits. The patrons were all suspect. Honestly, when the drunk strippers were fighting over a guy and calling each other a "whore" while this other chick threw her glass against the wall -- I really felt like it was time to roll out. Not what I consider exciting, but I have seen better surly action. And why is it bright in there? Do we really need to see what these people look like? I know it's a 'dive" and I wasn't expecting to see anything better than what I got. The bar has some video games, pool tables and your standard bar entertainment, like UFC matches on the tube. The jukebox was a stellar one -- playing lots of rap and hip hop and I think I heard a Sublime song. The jukebox was alarming to me. When I heard "I just wanna fuck you, no kissing and hugging, blah blah blah" I thought for a second, "Where. the hell. Am I? Only bros and their clingy slags listen to that shit. Take me to my punk rock hole, please. I wanna listen to the Adolescents and DK!" My honest opinion of this place? Well, I think you just read it. The bar didn't have anything to eat but chicken tacos and chips and salsa, but they were doing body shots! I took a video of it but Yelp won't let me post it. The sad thing here is that this bar was on the T.V. show "Bar Rescue". Turns out that after the construction crews and TV crews left, the sleaze bag douche of an owner had everything new taken out of the bar and installed in his home.
