I came to Vault Bar & Grill because my usual bar didn't have a pool table that night, and I just wanted to relax and play a few games. Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing from the start. First off, the pool tables only take quarters or cash, no app or card option like most modern bars, which was inconvenient. On top of that, the bartenders seemed to ignore customers and acted like they were doing you a favor just to take your order. It took about 10-15 minutes to get a drink, and the place wasn't even that busy. The worst part was when I asked my girlfriend to get me a water because I was feeling a little too tipsy and they actually told her they didn't have any water. A bar that can't even give a customer water? That's ridiculous. At this point, I understand why the owner is going out of business his employees clearly have no idea how to serve people or provide even basic customer service. Overall, the service and attitude here were terrible. I definitely won't be coming back. read more

The Thursday before thanksgiving, me and 2 friends decided to go to the Vault Bar and Grill for Karaoke. We walked in around 11pm, and noticed no security was checking ID, so we just walked in and up to the bar to order a drink. The security guard greeted us at the bar, and told us that they were short staffed so he would be pouring our drinks (cool, I totally get it, fine by me) Then a female bartender charged us for the drinks I left a cash tip, so I put 0.00 on the receipt when I paid with my debit card, only to find that someone had written in 30.00 for the tip, my total coming out to be 40$ for 1 draft beer. I called the bar, but never received a call back after leaving a voicemail and my number. That ain't right, they definitely didn't do ANYTHING to deserve a 30$ tip on top of 30% cash tip of $3. I learned my lesson and will not be returning, and on top of that, will be forced to write $0.00 as tight as possible as to avoid scrutiny. Thanks for the experience! Great bar!! The DJ's they have there on Saturday nights are awesome! The bartenders and even the owner are hospitable and friendly. Service at the bar was great, didn't have to stand around waiting for the bar tender to look my way. Drink prices are very reasonable and made excellent! Can't wait to go again. read more

Came in here a couple times with my girl. It was okay drinks weren't bad, staff was kind of not checked in but it was fairly slow so we'd get our drinks eventually. But then one time we came in and were only there for like two hours and somehow my card had gotten stolen from behind the bar. I waited like 15 min while they reviewed the tapes to find it and just told me they were sorry and couldn't see anything and in that time I can see someone had charged over $100 at a gas station with my card. They are open, finally! A new, great addition to DTSA! We have always walked past this bar before they opened and have patiently waited for them to open. And patiemce truly paid off. Our new fave bar in DTSA! Lots of great draft selection and they have my fave Cali Squeeze +mango cart on draft, add some chamoy on the rim and it's the perfect Cali drink! They also have a full bar! Food was *chef's kiss*! The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, along with the parm fries that is not yo regular cut fries. And that spicy honey sauce?! I would literally bathe in that sauce! Lol! Super nice, and friendly staff. And the ambiance and decor was very well thought of! LOVE THAT THEY ARE VERY DOG FRIENDLY. They offered treats and water for doggos and we appreciate that so much. This neighborhood bar has a fantastic corner location. There are pool tables here, and a full bar. Clean decor and great bartenders here. The food menu is somewhat limited (they had a salad on the menu that they said they actually won't start serving until next month), but everyone seemed to be ordering the wings. I had the burger, and it was fantastic. The drinks were even better. This is a place to explore with the bartender - they have very fresh fruits, and herbs, and bitters, and try to make a new cocktail that appeals to your tastes. read more

While sitting at the bar, someone began smoking outside, on the patio, just a few feet away from the front door, which is illegal, and the cigarette smoke immediately came into the bar. I got up and closed the door, only to have the bouncer immediately reopen the door, and tell me that the door had to stay open. I explained to the bouncer why I had closed the door, only to have him tell me if I didn't like it I could leave. The bouncer then walked away, and the bartender and chef attempted to make things right by apologizing and explaining that they were having issues with the bouncer. I appreciated the apology and acknowledgment of the problem, but that sort of behavior should never be tolerated. Needless to say, my friends and I immediately paid our tab and left. read more

This "new" spot sucks. Only 2 bartenders were nice after we greeted them first. Everyone will give you a look if you're not one of their local paisas chilling in the corner. Come for the food, stay for the drinks, I have been here twice and the food is amazing. Popcorn chicken, Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, wings all delicious. Tasted the burger tonight and OMG that was the best-like no joke order it! Drinks, full bar all cocktails are well balanced, fresh fruit, great ingredients. Our bartender tonight, Dakota is the best. She is attentive, knows what she is doing, professional and gave us amazing food recommendations. She wasn't wrong with anything she recommended. It's a bit if a drive for us but we'll worth it. Came here for a 66th birthday celebration and to watch the comedy show they had. Came with a group of 8 people, and we were hungry. We were all super surprised at how good the food was, because as you know bars aren't really known for good food. But we got hot wings, parm fries, wagyu burger, grilled cheese sandwich , I think a chicken salad that was the size of the whole plate and some drinks. Service was actually very friendly and good, until the end where we were trying to get our bill. I think maybe they just couldn't hear us over the comedy show or maybe we needed to go back out front to pay, wasn't really clear on that , it was our first time there. Nevertheless, I'd suggest/recommend the place for a cool night out on the weekend. They had a DJ out front, but also the music boxes where you can pay to play what you want to hear when there's no DJ, the parking is metered, and comedy or any type of entertainment is a nice touch of variety, a little something to do for the night. read more

Stopped here with some friends while out for OC Pride. When at a new bar i always ask for a drink menu because i like to check out an establishments signature drink. We saw two we liked and ordered. After a while the bartender came over, and said that they didn't have most of the things for my drink, and they didn't have one of the things for my friends drink. I ended up changing my order and my accepted her drink missing that one ingredient. We were sitting at the bar, and I noticed that the bartender kept looking at the menu while making the drink to figure out everything that went in. No big deal but a little concerning. When we got our drinks, they were horrible. It was basically like a vodka tonic but worse my friend had to order some soda on the side just to make it drinkable. Later on, I noticed that this place usually opens at four. Not sure if they opened early to try and get some of the OC pride crowd, but they really should have made sure that not only was their bar stocked but that they had bartenders that could handle the flux of people. There was a huge crowd at the parade, and I did see a lot of people coming into the bar. Hopefully they had a better experience than I did. read more

Hi I will delete this review if the owner or manager replies. I turned in a phone to the bartender and she tried to steal it when the person who owned it tried to retrieve it on karaoke night. The girl even made an announcement on the speaker looking for it but the bartender acted like she didn't hear it.... She also didn't realize that I was sitting on a patio table; I wasn't visible to her. 10 minutes later I went into the bar and sure enough she remembered the lost phone. Came here to try some cocktails out this past weekend for the art walk hoping to find something good. I ordered 2 different cocktails one with tequila and the other with the other with vodka. I'm not gonna say they were bad just that they were uninspired. Nothing above your typical chain restaurant. Sopped by here while in town, a lot of potential for it to be a great spot. The server was initially at the bar and upon our arrival went back behind the bar and served two people sat next to us. Not sure if they'd been there a while. Bartender acknowledged us and said she'd be with us, but then left the bar and continued socializing with the other guests. This is not a friendly place to visit or somewhere I'd recommend to anyone. Our experience tonight echos that of other reviews, so take your money elsewhere because this business doesn't need yours. I came in for the Rams wild card watch party. We were there for an hour and never got greeted or handed menus. I went up to the bar to get my brother and I drinks. What really bothered us from this experience is that the guy who appeared to be the owner, wearing a Kupp jersey, obviously ignored us. There were two tables of women sitting right next to us and he was very attentive of them getting them drinks, food, and their checks. Every time he walked over to them he purposely turned his back to us. I would have given 1 star but the bartender who came in later in the night, who was wearing glasses, was really friendly and helpful. He took our food order, got us drinks, and brought our food out. I was really hoping for a better experience since I am a huge sports fan and a bartender. Owner guy probably thought we didn't have money to spend because of how young we look but it's his loss because I always have money to spend. P.S. Thanks for those blue half shots! I don't drink really, but my coworker invited me to try out the appetizers that are half off during happy hour which we happen to make right after work. The bartender is super nice and skilled at pouring draft beer, very little foam which the show, Bar Rescue, taught me is good. She saw I was a bit shy so she didn't badger me, which I appreciated. She did engage more as I got more comfortable. I was also not shamed for not asking for a cocktail just water. I ordered their pork belly Mac and cheese and it was delicious. Mac and cheese didn't feel heavy and the pork belly gave me a popcorn chicken taste/texture. I loved it. My coworker was nice enough to share his wings, which was also yummy and not melt your mouth spicy. It was a bit salty, but I assumed it would pair well with a cocktail or beer. Reminded me of Buffalo wild wings. My boyfriend ordered their burger and parmasean fries. He said it was good and the fry I stole from him was the right amount of crunchy and flavorful. The best part was the food came out hot, which to me means for sure fresh and not microwaved. It's fancy inside, but not stuffy. Feels casual, and the people that stop by are friendly. I felt super comfortable and welcomed despite obviously not being a bar type of person. They also have a nice outdoor seating that reminds me of brunch. Owner even took the time to converse and came off very genuine. He says they are working on building a stage with live music! So thats something to look forward to. There is a parking garage walking distance for $5 (cash only) so it was easy to get to. Highly recommend, especially if you need somewhere to hang out after work to wait for traffic to die down or just chill.
