No one danced all night because the music wasn't even remotely danceable, plus there were random dead silences between songs that made it even worse. I asked for a request, got told yes, then got questioned like I made the song up (it's a popular line dance). The second he finally played it, people rushed the floor, and then it emptied again immediately after. So clearly the problem wasn't the crowd. Been going here a long time on and off. Lived in St. Petersburg and watched the Bucs win the superbowl here. Was there this week and it was a ghost town. Order two Surf Sides ....$18. This is more like a more active generic saloon, with exception of mechanical bull to be considered a country bar? In our whole time there, we didn't hear one country song. It was just a slightly loud dive bar that plays pop rock beats and has a mechanical bull. Nonetheless, it stands as a solid bar. You can tell many regulars come here to grab a drink. There's a few more activities you can do than your average bar like pool, bull riding, and games. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment for a country spot. I get people like a good variety. My suggestion is coming up with a playlist that plays both country and other tunes. Then, we can satisfy people who come to listen to country tunes. read more

Listen, I don't know who that extremely obese "bouncer" with the nastiest attitude I've ever met in st Pete in the 5 years that I've lived here is doing working at this establishment but he is definitely not doing his job right after telling me F off a million times when I JUST walked up to the place doing NOTHING but you're gonna lose a lot of customers having him be the face of the place to make sure people are in order, when he is in fact the most disorderly, ill-mannered ignorant person you could have hired. Not to mention, being that big in this case doesn't make him fit for the job if he can't even run after people and needs to sit down 23.5 hours of the day to catch his breath to tell people off with his foul, uneducated mouth. I'll start by saying that myself and my friend were in the wrong for our part in this situation, but the way the bouncers handled things was not okay. When my friends and I arrived at this bar, there was a DJ area where there was some equipment, and we pretended to play with it as a joke. I grabbed a laptop and put it into the fake Santa's hands that was in front of the booth. After that, we stepped down, and as we stepped down, the bouncers rushed over to us and told us we had to leave. I agreed with them that we deserve to be kicked out for this, and as we were walking out, they started to shove my friend out the door, and one of the bouncers put me in a choke-hold and was dragging me. When we got to the door, the bouncer threw me to the ground and I scraped my elbow, hand, and hit my hip, which now has a large bruise on it. As this was happening, the bouncer was yelling to me "I'll fu***** kill you!" multiple times. As I said, we deserved to be kicked out, but I don't believe we should have been shoved, choked, or tossed to the ground to where I got injured. I do not recommend this bar, especially after reading that these bouncers are consistently doing things like this. I regret not filing a police report at the time, but I am not from the area. Something needs to be done about this staff. read more

Perfect place to get your country on. Don't worry, this place doesn't blast country music 24/7. The times I've been there, they've played a good combination of country and top 40 hits. You don't have to be a redneck through and through to enjoy this place. Nostalgia might contribute a bit to my enjoyment of this bar. This may come as a surprise to many, but I am a Texan. I managed to avoid the southern accent and the slow paced drawl, but I picked up a love of country music and chicken and waffles. I may have moved out of the state for college and never looked back, but I still visit my Dad in Sugarland (yes, that is a real city's name) a couple times a year. Therefore, I am already a little predisposed to liking country bars (shout out to other Tampa country bar favorite, Dallas Bull). One Night Stand serves food as well as drinks! I've never tried their food, but from glancing at their menu, it looks like they have a good selection of bar bites. The drinks though are where it is at. They have $7 Specialty Drinks and $5 Shots! I've tried their Cowboy Breakfast Shot (sans bacon) and it was good. Whereas swankier places may charge $7 for a simple vodka soda, you have your choice of drinks such as Afternoon Delight or Mustached Mule here for that price. That's a win in my cheapskate book. As others have noted, a huge draw of this place is their mechanical bull! Yes, I have to admit I have done it. Since it is right at the window, everyone passing by can watch you hold on to dear life as you get flung around. (Ok, that was a bit dramatic, it's more like a gentle rocking until the mechanic decides it is time to swing you off.) When you are out with a group of friends getting your drink on, a mechanical bull just adds to the party. Don't think about it, just do it. They also have a giant Jenga! Who doesn't love giant Jenga? I have nothing else to add to that. This bar is in the heart of St. Petersburg so it is perfect if you are planning on doing a bar crawl. You can always pay your $1 Sundial garage weekend parking rate and then check out this place. Although, if you are taking advantage of their cheap drink prices, you may be better off ubering. read more

Wish i could give 0 stars. Have absolutely nothing but the worst to say about this place. They took my REAL ID and refused to give it back to me until I called the cops to come give it back to me. Keep in mind, this is a travel spot and I could not travel home without my ID. Even after the cops came and confirmed it was real, they refused to serve me and kicked me out because they still "thought it was fake". Besides that, they were incredibly rude and told our group that they "praise Satan". Was here with my sister and had one drink at this bar. During our short time their a man grabbed me by the back of my head with both hands and aggressive pulled me toward him and attempted to kiss me. Both me and my sister were terrified and began making our way toward the door to leave. An employee/bouncer stopped me and my sister and yelled at us for rushing and bumping past him. I attempted to to explain how I was just assaulted by a man and was trying to get away. The bouncer then kicked both me and my sister out and told us we were the problem and "to get the f*** out" (we were already leaving). Needless to say I will never be going back. The bouncers allowed two young girls to be assaulted and then proceeded to blame/shame and kick us out! Horrible situation and I feel sad and ashamed for the bouncer as he is supposed to keep people safe. I do not recommend any girls continue to go to this bar! read more

One Night Stand is every country guy and gal's bar. Complete with a mechanical bar, if you drink enough you may just feel like you're back in Texas. They obviously play all the country hits, but if you like r&b, you'll hear that here as well. This bar is always a hot spot on the weekend. Get there early if you plan on sitting down, because there's only a few booths available. The floor is usually sticky from spilled beer, so don't wear your nicest shoes. I'd say it's a pretty basic bar with just that additional country touch to it, making it a tad more fun than the other hot spots on Central Ave. You'll still have your typical college kids there who don't care to say excuse me when walking through the crowd, because they could care less about you, unless you're buying them drinks. But, hey, the drink prices aren't bad, so that's another bonus. read more

Country bar in the city is the theme and they got a mechanic bull to prove it. I had never ridden one of these things before, but I was dared into submission. The bull operator, Gary, was a funny guy. He put everyone at ease about the thing by giving us tips, and going easy on the throttle. In the end, 3/5 of us took the bull for a ride. Fun times. The beer selection is a little weak for a bar without food though, so that's why I'm only going 3 stars. They had all the usual suspects, plus a few craft beers. Nothing impressive. read more

No Smoking Indoors and a working AC! YES! FINALLY! I had a love/hate relationship with Durty Nelly's (previous location name) before because they had cheap drinks but I also came out smelling like an ashtray (and usually soaked in sweat cause their AC SUCKED). Went down here for a birthday and had a good time and I LOVE their new shot and drink menu. Kinda reminded me a bit of what Jon Taffer does on Bar Rescue to up sales and inform the public on other types of drinks and shots to try. I think they ranged from $5-8. Very cool. The bull is a nice touch and looked clean. I'll have to go back on a busier night to see it in action. Other cool tidbit is they have a Patio License so you can take your drinks outside with you if you do need to smoke or take a call. Not a fan of country, but for the drink prices, I'll make it work. Came here on a Thursday night 7/19/18. I was immediately happy when i seen the flags from the different services hanging up. I knew i was in a good place Then i noticed there was a few extra Marine Corps things in the bar. Being a 22yr veteran of the Corps things like this stick out. So i asked the bartender about it. I guess i asked for attitude too. I was informed that "this is an American bar, and that's why we have this stuff up" then here eyes rolled. I know it's an American bar lady, we're in America!
