This bar was a great one, right next to the Jannus Live, where we would attend a concert that evening. The Pelican embodies a classic "comes-as-you-are" vibe in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg where you can go for beers and drinks without much fuss, pomp, or circumstance. We had walked three blocks from our hotel to the Jannus, where the gates hadn't opened yet for the War on Drugs concert. Walking across the street towards that entrance, I noticed a sign for the Pelican Pub hanging over a door right next to it. Knowing that drinks at any concert venue are expensive, I led my wife into the Pelican to grab some pre-concert beverages. The Pelican is a great dive bar with a small L-shaped counter and a few high-top tables scattered across the main area. A handful of flat-screen TVs hang on the halls around the bar where you can watch whatever sports game or show is being broadcasted, with a jukebox. in the back left corner. The ceiling above the bar is littered with dollar bills. The walls were covered with scribbles from patrons throughout the years -- people's names, nicknames, team chants, and other drunken mutterings. All of this gives the bar its character. We knocked back Jameson and Ginger Ales at $6 a pop for about 30 minutes or so before moving on to the Jannus for the show. But the Pelican is a fun spot for your first stop of the night, pre-game for a show, or if you're looking for a stop to enjoy some drinks with some friends.

Stumbled across a DTSP dive bar.

Typical dive bar: dollars on the ceiling, young people enjoying cheap drinks, and no nonsense bartenders. They abandoned the mask mandate well before other establishments in the area. The vibe is dgaf. I love it. As I walk around Dtsp getting some cardio, I always swing by for a quick drink. The pour is big, the bar is small. You could maybe fit 30 people inside( not sure the fire code) and I like that too. I don't wanna stumble around a bar the size of a warehouse and have to decide if I should just give up and pee outside. I will keep coming to the pelican every time I'm in Dtsp. Do yourself a favor and swing by this Dtsp dive bar.

    Strong drink!

We arrived at 5:30 and it was packed, but a table opened for us within two minutes. The ambiance was awesome, with each table having its own miniTV! Guests didn't have to choose between watching Wimbledon or the World Cup (or anything else they chose). Such a clever idea and probably great for entertaining kids, too. The server was prompt and friendly, and we got our drinks and app ordered immediately. We split the corn dog as an appetizer (felt right for 4th of July), and my husband declared it was one of the best he ever had. A great ratio of the sweet fried dough and salty hot dog. Definitely a reasonable portion to split as an appetizer and still have room for an entree. We got the tomato and corn salad as a side, which was a nice palate cleanser. I got the bacon cheeseburger (sub a pretzel bun, which you can absolutely do) and my husband got the Van Helsing. Both were excellent. He got regular fries and I got sweet potato fries and a side salad, also fantastic. My meal was exactly what I wanted - a classically delicious cheeseburger (I removed the bacon and put it on my side salad, which I highly recommend). My husband's had perfectly cooked garlic cloves and a nice zest with the jalapeños. They also had a great tap list to go wash everything down! We left stuffed but not feeling like we were going to die. It was a wonderful experience for start to finish and we'll be back!

I got the crispy duck wings (and do not know why I didn't take a picture ) but they were very crispy and very good. They came with 2 sauces, which I did not try because they said they were a bit spicy and I don't like spicy, but they were plenty good on their own. I ordered the One Bad Pig with a side of sweet potato fries and of course had to get an extra side of tator tots because I love them. The burger was very good and juice, hard to eat because it's so big, but I managed to do it. The tots were crispy just like I like them and the fries were your typical sweet potato fries but very good. The service was attentive and good and it seemed to be a local crowd and was a nice vibe. It is off the beaten path so not too touristy but the locals know about it so it gets crowded. I highly recommend this place for a burger if you are wanting one!!

At the outset, the server spilled a container of salad dressing on one of our party. Ok. No problem. Accidents happen. I ordered broiled salmon. The server asked which side I wanted. I inquired as to the choices. She listed them (fries, slaw, salad, etc). I ordered a salad. I enjoyed my meal. (One member of our party also ordered the salmon. She said hers was very overcooked and dry). After we finished our entrees, the server asked if anyone wanted dessert. I ordered a apple crisp to go. After paying the bill, I looked at the itemized charges. I was not happy to see that I had been charged $3.00 for the "side" salad. When I asked the server about it, she said that the salad was a "premium" side--ergo, the $3.00). This should have been revealed to me prior to ordering it. By the way, the to-go apple crisp was a whopping $10.99!! I sure hope my husband likes it!!

We started with the crispy pork belly, which looked a little on the drier side when it arrived but don't let that fool you, the brown sugar bourbon glaze it was dressed in was delicious. Really enjoyed it as a starter. The tavern burger came highly recommended as one of their best dishes, and while it was a good burger, it didn't quite blow us away. Surprisingly mild on flavor despite the toppings, and it's a BIG boy... which I know some people love, but I tend to prefer a smash burger so I'll take partial responsibility for that note! The fries, however, were excellent... textured, crispy, exactly how fries should be. The real standout of the visit was the chilaquiles (the chef's brunch special). It ran a little dry, but the flavors more than made up for it. The combination of crunchy tortilla chips, smoky sauce, pickled onions, egg, avocado, and cilantro all together was just so good... my boyfriend was equally obsessed. Would absolutely order again. Service was great and overall had a really enjoyable visit... Stillwaters continues to deliver a solid experience and I'll keep coming back!
