Cocktail is one of my favorite gay bars ever to go out with friends in the St Pete area as every night is a whole different experience. Their staff is always so kind and helpful, and their food service is great, they have an extensive food menu in case you're hungry, and a big variety in cocktails and other drinks. This bar works together with the 'Mari Jean' hotel, so you can rent a room if you're too tired and access to the hotel elevator directly from the club dance floor. Also they have a goodie store in case you need anything to have some fun (but hurry, they close at midnight). Their shows and themes are everything, and the big events are so much fun. Definitely a place I would recommend to whoever is looking to have a great time. read more

Cute lil place on Central Ave. 2 for 1 happy hour is a bargain, especially since we ordered Tito's cocktails (9.00/ea split in two, 4.50/ea)! Outdoor seating is plentiful and bar seating on the sidewalk as well. Inside was big and airy but also very loud (too loud to hold a conversation). Bartenders were very attentive and kind. What a fun place to spend a Sunday funday at their new pool side tea dances. We brought a group of 25 people and got a cabana at the pool. It was as close to a perfect day as you can get. Security was great. Friendly. They even have a cool new face camera addition to keep their patrons extra safe and keep the dangerous ones out. Bar staff was as friendly as they are sexy. Most nights they have a DJ. There is always a huge crowd on the weekends at The Wet Spot pool. They also have Umbrella Sidewalk seating. I was at this bar on a Friday night in March 2025. I saw a man that works here scream and yell at a girl who could not have been older than 25 years old just for going the wrong direction looking for the bathroom. I heard her apologize more than once for opening the wrong door & ask him to stop yelling. He then told her to "go fuck herself" and called her a "black bitch". From how he was speaking I personally believe he was pretty drunk, which given he was meant to be working made me uncomfortable on its own. I don't know if this young lady will get a chance to speak up but I can't not mention what I saw here and how wrong it was. Me and my party immediately left after that. We have been to Cocktail, a few times now. Here are my initial thoughts. The bar is a nice size and they keep Enigma's similar happy hour schedule of two for one drinks (except craft beer) from 12 - 9. Over a few visits we tried most of the martinis. I honestly didn't like most of them so I'll probably stick to calls, beer, and wine here. I found that most of the bartenders were quite well trained and did well with the volume on opening week. The drag shows are good. Unfortunately, the first show only had each performer sing one song each lasting only about 30 minutes. They have a later show, but on Sunday night I noticed the bar cleared out after the first show. My recommendation is to make the first show longer which will keep people there longer. I don't think people want to stay out as late on Sunday night so trying to get them to stay until the second show. The concept for the Wednesday shows is cool too. Again I would like to see the first show be a bit longer. Maybe I am just old though. The DJ has been good and we enjoy the music. They also have gogo boys most nights that dance on the boxes. Bring cash to tip them because they don't have an ATM yet (but it's coming). As far as COVID precautions, this place opened after the governor ended all mask requirements. As a result, no staff wears mask and patrons aren't wearing them either. read more

I grew up in St Pete and was so pleasantly surprised to see how fun the Central Ave had become on a recent visit. There's an amazing LGBTIQ+ district and a great cluster of fun at the Mari Jean Hotel. Cocktail was one of the main bars. Lots of fun and good food and drinks. read more

I've been coming to Cocktail since January, and I love this place! It's welcoming, the staff is friendly and the drinks are strong. It has amazing ambiance with a terrific outside window and a large outdoor seating area with umbrellas for shade and there are always open seats during the day. Happy Hour lasts 12-9 Mon thru Sun, which offers a buy-one-get-one on drinks through a chip system. The staff is phenomenal as everyone is friendly, caring, and flirty. Vikki makes the best platinum star virgin drink that I order with vodka (when in Rome)... Alex, who now manages and occasionally bartends is the margarita expert, Sebastian is intentionally humorously catty and has a fantastic personality and makes a strong drink, Spencer is a wonderful person with an adorable personality and the first person I met coming to cocktail. He's such a great, caring and passionate person and great bartender, and Kayle is a tall drink of water who is always helpful, sweet, and funny. The security team which includes Matt who is so nice and caring and friendly & Brittany who is equally as sweet and amazing, is also professional and helpful. Brad on Karaoke Tuesdays is an amazing karaoke host, and he is kind, helpful and very friendly. Just great people! Adrianna Sparkles and Aquarius are wonderful drag entertainers who provide comedic relief as MCs. The best "amateur" and spotlight drag in the area is here on Wednesday nights! The managers (Alex, Chris, Chris and the GM Melvin) are also amazing. They all have great personalities and that's just another reason I'm a regular. The barbacks Rob and Nathan are stellar too! They are friendly, outgoing, and always nice! When I went to leave this review, I am insanely confused as to how there are some bad reviews. For those saying they didn't have their ID, it's the law to carry it! I had a friend in town who didn't have his ID and understandably he couldn't get in. Those are the rules. So we went somewhere else that evening. But I still came back! That's on my friend for not having it. The rules are not designed to discriminate; they're designed to protect the bar, the staff and the owners which is absolutely a great thing! I would never want Cocktail to get shut down for serving minors. That would suck as it's become one of my favorite places. This bar is part of the Mari Jean hotel it is on the first floor and has some event every night, which is pretty great. I got to see Bingo and Karaoke. I ordered gaysodilla with chicken, and it was really good. Maybe a tiny bit overpriced for the portion, but it was good. I felt welcome and had a good time. While the rules are no smoking or vaping in the door, I saw this happening, and no one addressed it. Even another customer sitting next to me commented on this. Also, the smell of weed lingered through the outdoor bar inside. So that hurt the atmosphere and experience a little for me as I really can't stand that smell. Also while I was there a couple got in a fist fight, however the staff handled it well and got them separated and out of the bar but it was scary for a minute as the one guy looked very intoxicated and unpredictable. Even though this stuff happened, I would still say the bar was a beautiful, great theme that works with the hotel and is very clean and super convenient to anyone staying in the hotel. The only thing I thought was strange was the 1 person bathrooms for a bar. I feel you should have a large bathroom for multiple people. Other than that, I recommend checking out this fun friendly bar. Great parking right outside, too. Wow, so difficult to gain entry. I tried to go to the main door but there was a sign to go to either the front door or pool entrance. So, I went to the front door but there were signs posted saying "exit only". WTHay...I asked a staff member and they directed me to the pool entrance! I walked back 50 yards to the pool entrance and was finally allowed in. Then I had to figure out how to get into the main bar from the pool area..weave through the ramp, walk by the pool/bar, walk into the back area of the bar, turn left, and then, FINALLY, the main bar!! This bar is fun, funky, friendly and welcoming to all. While it's known as a gay bar, my husband and I (female) decided to give it a try because it's patrons always look like they are having so much fun! One reason might be good 2-for-1 drinks virtually all waking hours! Once we made it through the ordering process inside (understandably very busy), we took a seat outside with a very friendly crew of gentlemen. Lee, previously retired, who owns Cocktail with his husband, came out to bus tables and spent quite a long time chatting with us. So nice! They are opening a boutique hotel upstairs and a swim up bar on the adjacent lot. We are excited to bring our friends and family of all persuasions to all of Lee's establishments.
