Went to Goodnight John Boy in St. Pete for a bachelorette and overall had a fun time, the vibe is great and the bar was packed. We reserved a "table," but it didn't feel like one. It was more of an outdated couch with a tiny table in the corner, and the roped-off area was really small (comfortable for maybe 4-5 people) while we had 8. The biggest issue was that our section was basically in the middle of the dance floor with barely any real barrier. The rope kept getting pushed around, people were literally climbing under it to get to the other side of the bar, and multiple people were reaching in, some even trying to take our drinks or leaving empty cups in our space. Staff did come by to clean a couple of times, but it wasn't enough to keep up. Overall, still a fun spot with a great atmosphere, and I'd come back if I was in the area again , just wouldn't book a table next time (especially for the price). read more

The concept of this club is super cute, with a 70s theme and music to go with it. My drink was tasty but very pricey, especially because it wasn't very strong. The bartender was very nice and accommodating though. The club was also way too crowded, and there was really no space to move/dance. This was after waiting in line for around 30-45 minutes, so it was pretty disappointing. There are a lot of blocked off areas that people reserve, which really makes the place cramped and kind of ruins the vibe. This was my second time visiting Goodnight John Boy. The first time , I came during Christmas to check out the decorations and festive drinks. It was a fun experience overall - though the wait time was a bit frustrating. This most recent visit, however, was a bit of a letdown in terms of service. There was only one server working the entire downstairs bar, despite there being a crowd of 20-30 people. We waited a long time just to get drinks. The server was doing his best and even offered us a round of tea shot drinks as an apology - which we really appreciated. He mentioned that the rest of the staff were upstairs serving a private party - understandable, but not ideal when the downstairs was just as busy. The drinks this time were just okay, but the music and overall atmosphere were still solid. Last time we came, trivia night was a lot of fun too. All in all, it's a cool spot with a good vibe, but they need to staff more evenly if they want to keep both floors happy! read more

The music kept us dancing and the DJ was really good after 10pm. The set up doesn't do great for crowds. It's a small dance floor, but people were still dancing on the sides. The night we went happened to be disco/80's music so it was very retro..everyone younger and older were jamming! I know they do have N.A. beers because one of us ordered one. Came on a Friday night with a friend while visiting in town and was disappointed to be honest. It receives a lot of hype because the music is a fun throwback and the indoor decor is cool but the ambiance was a little off. Between some older gentlemen that fell creepy by dancing too erratic to the point where they threw their shirt on my friend, another group of annoying taller men corralled us and we felt very uncomfortable. We're not new to being sardines in a crowd but this was too much. Visited here for the first time last night and a core memory has been made. As soon as I was told this was a 70's themed nightclub, I was like SIGN ME UP. The interior is fabulous. Seriously. Major shoutout to whoever designed the place....it's all amazing, from the traditional light-up dance floor to the giant disco ball to the glorious blown up photo of nude Burt Reynolds. It all fits. The nightclub has two bars, one located towards the front, and then a sit down bar tucked into the back. Plenty of seating all around. The bathrooms have tons of stalls which is a god send as bars are notorious for having one or two only. The DJ is located at the front of the dance floor in front of the giant Farah Fawcett picture. Love love love. I advise you get there early! We arrived around 8:30pm and had plenty of room to dance for an hour. It became packed around 10pm and this was a Thursday night so keep that in mind. We had a very large group who were all really excited and going for a fun disco night, but from the very first initial experience with the bouncer, we should have just left. The Bouncers should be put in jail!!! The Excessive force and assault I witnessed on a man battling a health problem was insane. He felt very lightheaded, so he sat down on a couch, apparently It was a VIP area. They were informed several times he was having issues and that they were trying to cash him out as quickly as possible, but still he was removed with force off of the couch while he was getting his pulse checked. I get alcohol was involved but Apparently they thought that they have more legal authority than an ordinary citizen. Three guys on a 60 year old man in a full on choke hold was insane. I will not be returning, and I sincerely hope the management takes steps to address the unprofessional behavior of their bouncers and improve their treatment of guests. read more

One of my favorite things about this bar is you will see all kinds of people of all ages straight up dancing and having a good time.
