Bob quickly reminded me that Thursdays are "Thrifty Thursdays" at the book store, with BOGO (buy one, get one) item specials. This Thrifty Thursday was BOGO on Children's items. Bob is a great resource and reminded me that the bookstore sells some donated items directly on Amazon to benefit their nonprofit. It's not a big…read moreplace, so it isn't overwhelming but it has a lot of really neat stuff, a "grab bag" if you will, of different things to go through from antique to vintage to homemade. I always find a little something for a birthday or to add to a birthday gift. It's great for teacher's gifts and stocking stuffers at the holidays too. It's my favorite antique shop in Esco and now has regular hours. It's worth a trip out to see what they have in their different booths. And even though it's neat and cute and stylish...it's never snooty or too kitschy. I really like it.

This review is a few months overdue, so my apologies!…read more Track City records is a small, family owned record store that has a great selection of vinyl albums for every taste. They are located in Downtown Escondido. Street parking is available but plan ahead on busy weekends. We first heard about them when they hosted a Bruno Mars The Romantic listening party. It was a chill time and the folks that run this business are the sweetest. We chatted with them for a bit, asked how long they've been in business and how just general conversation. What I appreciated was the eclectic variety of albums available...even some difficult to find Filipino albums. Loved the representation. There were plenty of rare finds as well as current music. They also have merch for sale so I picked up a Track City tote bag to take home since they didn't have my size in some of their t-shirts. Please support small businesses like this one. I hope to see them here for many years to come!

Came here to the Bruno mars listening party and to go in for the raffle. We waited in the walk in…read moreline. They gave us a free poster and we waited to listen to Bruno's new album. At the end of the album they did a raffle for a free Bruno mars shirt. We didn't win, but it was an interesting event. The record store has a bunch of records and some record players. It was a small shop, but it fit quite a lot of people for the event.

When I am in need of some new reading material, I head to the PQ library When I need books for travel or the beach I go to the book store inside the PQ library called the Book Nook. This is a utilitarian place with wire rack shelves and used books but the prices are great and they frequently have very current books. I have found some great classics and some books that cost me 25 cents that are on the NYT best seller list. They have some fun cook books and there is even a section with older (and more expensive) collectibles. If you join the Friends of the library the prices range from 25 cents up to a dollar for most books and you are donating to a great cause because the proceeds of the sales and membership go to the library. You can also donate books and get a great tax write off. If your books are really new and in good shape they might use them for the library, and if they already have the book in stock it goes to the Book Nook. And the next day after you make your donation, I show up and buy the book. You see, while I have tried to sell you on the noble aspects of donating and buying and the great benefits of keeping your tax dollars, in the end, its all about me needing some fresh reading material. Open Weekends, this is one of the best New Age Bookstores in N. County San Diego. Everyone seems to be a medium here so they are delighted to talk with you about those things that go bump in the night, premonitions and apparitions and won't think you're crazy in the least. If you don't see what you're looking for, Celeste will order it for you too. It's run completely by volunteers and they are always so happy to see you and share their latest discoveries. There's such a wonderful variety of offerings that would include many items that you might usually find at a Metaphysical Bookstore, like gems and minerals, vibrational healing jewelry, incense and all kinds of Tarot Cars plus all Spiritually based books new and used. But then there are the more specialize tools for mediumship development classes. So you can find trumpets and slates and of course crystal balls too! Cool little Barnes and Noble in an old theater space! I love that they kept the theater marquee out…read morefront. It looks super cool! The bf also got a kick out of it since he worked as a theater manager for years and loves checking out different theaters. The inside of the store was pretty similar to other Barnes and Nobles, maybe a bit smaller. Good amount of book merch and themed table sections, but I think the lighting could have been a bit brighter. They were running some great deals before new years so I picked up a few new books. I have noticed that sometimes Barnes and Noble doesn't pick up the discounts listed on the stickers on the front covers of books, so I pay extra attention when those are rung up. The guy at the register was super nice and corrected it, no problem!

And of course, the Bookstar sign out front giving it old theater vibes. Selection was similar to what other B&N have. Their record section was cute, displayed in the front window. The store was well organized, easy to navigate, and had all the featured table displays. I was searching for The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig when I went, but they were out of stock. The employee who helped me offered to call another store in the area, which was really nice of her! I ended up getting it at the Mission Valley location. Overall worth a visit, if only to take pictures of the cool sign. Otherwise, it's like any other Barnes & Noble.

I don't think I've ever left here without a book I have been looking for. The staff is very welcoming and attentive as well. Great environment while shopping and checking out!
