My husband had some Oakley sunglasses frames that needed new lenses due to a change in vision. They made the previous lenses also a few years ago, they were great at a awesome price. The new right lense had an issue in terms of fit in the frame. I came in and talked to Brian. He took care of the problem. He had the lense remade for me and I couldn't be happier. I very much like supporting local businesses. We also bought our kids glasses here. Brian very much went the extra mile to ensure the problem was solved. I selected this business because it was close to home. For my next optometrist I'd happily drive 100 miles for a better experience than I got here. Having never needed glasses before, I booked the appointment with the intention of getting a fashionable pair of frames for work since I'm spending more time than ever on Zoom meetings, and black frame glasses seem to be all the rage these days. Figured might as well get a check up while I'm there since I hadn't seen an eye doc in years. Pretty straight forward, easy sale, and a great opportunity to earn a client for repeat business in my mind... yet in hindsight, can't believe I had the audacity! Arrived on time for early morning appointment, some light paperwork and brought to the back room. After a few minutes looking into some ill explained devices with the assistant, I met Dr. Anderson and was moved to the exam room. I was candid with him in a personable sort of way expressing, "I'm here for fashion", "don't feel I need glasses", hadn't been to many eye doctors over the years because I'm pretty skeptical about the whole eye exam process being "subjective". I feel like, upon learning this, a good doctor would have responded with some sensitivity, maybe an anecdote, some education, or AT LEAST some further questioning... Dr. Anderson responded with a cold, plain-looking gaze, and instructions to "sit here, hold this over your eye, and read the smallest line you can clearly see." Felt like he skipped all the foreplay and took me straight to the "bent-over at the barrel position." With zero regard what-so-ever for my input on what actually brought me in today. I read the bottom line, correctly have you, with my right eye. Time to switch... Well my left eye has just been covered with this black paddle and you know what happens when you open your eye after having a something pressed to it for 2-5 minutes in a dark room. It takes time to adjust. I tell him, "give me a sec, my eyes are adjusting sometimes they take a sec to focus".. thinking he'd understand. I'm sorry I did, because he didn't miss a beat when he repeated it back me later in an effort to convince me I need a prescription. We press on with the exam, the entire time with no consideration to communicate to me what's going on aside from, "what's better A or B", "A or B", as if I'm supposed to just trust this impersonal stranger's subjective judgement of MY EYES because he wore a lab coat and asked double-binded questions. Like honestly Doc, really wouldn't have killed you to say, "this one has no prescription, this one does", this is a level one prescription, this is a level 2". The entire time, I felt like he was trying to trick me into a prescription I didn't need or want. At the end of this extremely scientific exam, it was time for the glaucoma test. "Here, these eye drops won't dilate your eyes so don't worry." No explanation of what they were or why they were needed. Nope, I just let this random dude in a lab coat put an unknown substance in my face then subsequently take a tiny telescope and position it a centimeter from my retina. "Eyes open and look forward" was about the extent of his summary regarding this procedure. Time for the verdict: "Well your right eye is good, but you have farsightedness in your left eye.", Dr. Anderson says objectively, with no consideration for any of my input or the overall subjective-ness of the everything so far. He did hand me a tissue to clean the yellow drops from my eyes, so I guess, "Thanks for grabbing me a towel when you were through on the barrel, doc!" I explain again, "I don't feel I have vision problems and I'm cautious about getting prescription lenses I don't need because I don't want my eyes to get dependent." "That's a myth." he coldly offered up "and they'll help you with that and I quote, sometimes my eyes take a moment to focus issue." I was dumbfounded. Like for one, I get that it might be a myth, but as prevalent a myth as that is, as an optometrist that's the best explanation you got?! For as frequent as I imagine that come up, you've decided the best way to handle that statement is to write it off as mere myth with no follow up?! For two, do you even care to understand that my eyes don't normally take time to focus, that's circumstantial to everything we just did?! I ask him, "Is it possible I just get two pair, one with the script and one without, this way I can try both and see what I like best?" Reasonable question in my mind, but met with "Oh I don't handle that, take this and talk to them out front." Dude up front was no better. Told me to just buy them online if I don't want a prescription and seemed offended I even suggested the idea. "F' me right for supporting local business in a pandemic." I could go on... but I'm out of room and frankly, they aren't worth it. read more

My wife and I where involved in a bad accident and first her glasses where damaged and Brian was so helpful first he made a temporary repair to her frames but then told us that he was going to order a new frame and cover ir under warranty. That was awesome but then a few days later we had her eyes check and found she really needed a new prescription, she was having a really hard time seeing since the accident, so Brian and his staff at Optical Gallery expedited the lenses and she had her new glass in just 3 days. We highly recommend Optical Gallery great customer service and they stand behind there work. read more

Hard pass on this place. I waited until the end of the year to find and schedule an eye exam. I was easily able to schedule an appointment quickly, and they had Saturday slots available, which was convenient. That's the only benefit I see. The office and store front is not very modern, and somewhat dingy. I couldn't help but notice the trays they use to bring out glasses and such are very old and a bit crusty looking. Not appealing. My actual exam was with Dr. Anderson. I found his demeanor to be flat. When I asked questions about my prescription and the change that had occurred I felt that he was making faces and seemed somewhat put off that I was asking. I obviously don't have a degree in eye related education, so perhaps I wasn't asking using all the right terms - but I would expect a doctor to be able to listen and then ask questions to help explain. But instead, I felt like I was being a bother. Frame selection is rather small. I also didn't see another sink area for me to remove and place in my contacts, (and also was not directed to one) but the restroom set up is not very conducive to this task. Just balance your stuff on the sink edge and hope for the best. So, while I was not impressed with my exam, for sake of convenience, I did order a new pair of glasses. When I went to pick them up, their brusque employee decided to take it upon himself to tell me to smile. I did inform him that was extremely rude, and he said he didn't know that would offend me, and he did offer an insincere apology. With both visits behind me, I leave this place to only exist in my memory, and I absolutely would not recommend it to anyone. I found it to be unwelcoming and out dated, including the staff that I encountered. read more

Scheduled my appointment online. Came to my appointment at the scheduled time and they said that the appointment didn't come through because they were having problems with their online software. Come back another day. I told them not a problem, came back on another day, got my eye exam, ordered glasses. I came to pick up my glasses at 5pm. The store closes at 5:30, says so online and on their door! But the store was closed. This place is SUPER unprofessional, don't waste your time. Update: I went back the next day to pick up my glasses. The frames didn't fit. Guy said the temple was too long. I'm sorry what?! Shouldn't this be something worth knowing before I purchased the glasses. He said I could either pick another frame or he could give me my money back. I asked about insurance and he said he said, "I do claim reversals all the time", which is frightening in itself actually, but whatever. You know what, if you have an insurance company that will only accept a few eye places. Look at the reviews and make sure you get a good outcome. For example if you must go to this place, make sure you call to make your appointment, make sure you call before going to pick up glasses or appointment as they seem to have a lot of "family emergencies" which renders the place close when they should be open. And also make sure that they measure the frames you're getting so that they fit your face when you receive them. This place is as unprofessional as they come so be prepared. read more

I have worn glasses for 35 years and I've never had so much trouble getting a pair of glasses sized properly. After a dozen trips, I was told. "Maybe you needed a wider frame." I was taken aback. As I was not used to this type of situation. I've always been taken care of by true professionals who know how to help you get the right size and fit. SIX months later I had to buy another pair of trifocals and not a cheap purchase. Being disabled and on SS that really hit me hard. After cataract surgery, I needed glasses for driving until I could have more corrective surgery and did not want to spend a fortune. I went to three places and Optical Gallery not only had the best price, but could get the glasses for me overnight. In addition, I purchased over the counter sunglasses to wear over the prescription ones. When one of the lens came out, Glen graciously gave me a new pair. Excellent customer service. read more

I have been going to Optical Gallery for over 12 years now (they used to be in a different location). I wouldn't go any place else! I have very bad eyesight. Dr. Anderson is very thorough and gives his patients the time they need to make sure they get an extremely accurate prescription and eye health exam. My entire family is seen by him as well. I have recommended him to many friends and they have all been thrilled with the care they received. Glen and Brian take pride in making your glasses to exact specifications. Nothing, but damage. I came for help asking if they can replace a chipped lens in my transition prescription glasses however the owner made even more damage in different spot and asked me to leave the premises with that. The owner of Optical Gallery at Quincy and Chambers (Aurora, CO) behaved as experienced, well over self confident rascal. I've got impression like it was not for the first time for him. I told him that I have no prescription. After that he said he needs to evaluate the lens and he took my photochromic glasses to another room. When he came back he said the replacement will cost $55. However the difference in transparency can be expected. During this conversation I've noticed that there is another chip in different place on the lens, which was not there before. I kept listening to him, hoping that he will explain where the another chip came from without my questions about it. But he has not mentioned what has happened to the lens. After I've asked where the new chip came from, the owner replied that he needed to take the lens out and the lens got chipped. If he needed to take the lens out, he should let me know about that because this procedure is potentially destructive. I would rather look for other options and would never allow him to take the lens out. After some time, he apologized, however after I asked how much would it cost to replace both of lenses he said he does not have any legal rights to do anything without prescription. Why he took my expensive glasses apart if he knew that I have no prescription? So, for him it is not legal to fix the glasses without prescription, however it is perfectly legal to destroy customer's eyewear. When his partner came, they increased pressure on me by insisting that the glasses are "still wearable". He asked me to leave. No service served except of additional damage (chip off on expensive lens). My experience with Optical Gallery at Quincy and Chambers (Aurora, CO) was very disappointing and it has totally destroyed my weekend since Saturday's noon. read more
