The OC Record Show has been a staple in the OC community for music lovers and vinyl collectors. They have shows on the last Sunday of every month except for December. Early admission is $10 to get in before 10am and general admission is $5 after 10am. To get here, there is a free parking lot with a good amount of spots. Inside, they have a bunch of vendors with so many crates to dig through. Vendors all have different prices and selection of genres. Wifey and I had a fun time perusing around and ended up leaving with a Getz/Gilberto and Snoh Aalegra vinyls. I'm a huge fan of Black Flag so when I saw former guitarist Dez Cadena would be signing records I knew I had to go. I also happen to be a vinyl collector so I thought this would be a nice little adventure. Let's see how it went. Located a stone's throw from Knotts Berry Farm at the UFCW Union Hall, the OC Record Show is a crate digger's paradise. There's plenty of parking in their lot and it's free. It's $5 to get in after 10am. Early bird is $10 and you can get in at 7. The space is huge and there are tons of vendors. It's not just records but most physical media. CDs, cassettes....i think I even spotted so laser discs. Some vendors are better organized than others but as always, your patience can be rewarded! The OC Record Show has a special guest signing each month so I'll definitely come back based on who it is. The signing itself was very organized and the employees were all very helpful. Great show!!! Been twice and brought home 5 albums each time. There is a dj spinning some fun tunes the entire time. Prices are varied by seller...some are super high and some are very reasonable. There are a few sellers with very rare albums so if you're looking for something in particular and haven't been able to find it, you should come check it out! You can pay extra for early access or just $5 after 10 am. I say it's definitely worth the admission!! I think a few food truck out in the parking lot would be a fun addition (hint, hint) read more

I enjoy coming to the show. I've been here just a handful of times and I've already found some hard to find titles for my collection. Entrance is just a few bucks cash. Besides the main floor, you can get inner and outer sleeves, adapters and anything for your vinyl up front. There's a small snack bar in the back if you need to take a break. There's a bit of everything here, you may find good deals or you may not. It's worth digging and walking around a few times to find gems. Most vendors are ok with zelle and venmo but you should bring cash as well. Cash is king. Haven't had a bad experience yet so I'll keep coming. read more

This event is held last Sunday of each month with the exception of August and December. It's held at the UFCW Union Hall on the corner of Crescent and Stanton. Parking is free and there are plenty of spots on the facility (front and back). Admission is $3, ($2.50 with returned postcard). You can put your name on the mailing list if you want to receive a reminder postcard for the event. Early admission, from 7:15 a.m.-10:00 a.m., is $8 ($7.00 with a returned postcard). This is a good event to attend if you are looking for vintage vinyl. There are some vendors that have new vinyl as well, but majority are original pressings. Few vendors have CDs and cassettes. You can find some great deals if you are willing to put in the time and look through all the vendors. I recommend going through every vendor before making any purchase. Several vendors may carry the same item so you should always do a price comparison. Almost every vendor seemed willing to negotiate on the price, so don't be shy about asking for a lower price, especially if you are buying more than one item from the same vendor. read more

One person's trash is another person's treasure. This statement is one that's absolutely true-true-true if you chose to go to The Orange County Record Show. It's a recorded music showcase and not just records anymore (there were some CDs, too). It's all different kinds of genres, probably some bands/performers you've never even heard of before. It's picking boxes that are sometimes ordered by band name or genre and sometimes not. I quickly discovered that the regular vendors I talked to here pretty much know what's in their boxes/crates and if you ask for the bands you want to buy recordings of, they will pick the records out for you to make a quick sale. Everyone is chatty and you will be shoulder-to-shoulder picking through those boxes. The entry fee is $5 at the door after 10AM and has loads of free parking at the rear of the Union Hall at the corner of Stanton and Crescent in Buena Park on the fourth Saturday of the month. read more

So my hubby bought a record player. Why, no clue. He just all of a sudden wanted one after asking him years ago for us to get one. He said no and now we find ourselves going to record events searching for those awesome records. Them hard to find scores. It's our new hobby. And we love it. I have been going to the OC RECORD SHOWS for years and recall the days long ago when it was at The Sequoia Athletic Club on Orangethorpe in Buena Park. Back in the early 90's they used to always have a special guest that would sign Autographs, etc. I met a few great musicians there. Some well known , some not. Mick Taylor, Papa John Creach, Jeremy Spencer to name a few. Anyway the Record selection then and now is always an adventure as you can find loads of great Vinyl old and new. I always find something and the prices are usually very fair . You never know what you might find as there are gems there to find if you take time going through the Vendors Boxes. I have found Records that I have hunted for a long time there and many times in great condition. It is also fun to just browse and talk music with all the other Music fans and collectors roaming the tables and of course the vendors always have interesting stories to share as well. Overall it is just a fun time mingling with all of the other people that share the Record Finding Passion. There is also a good selection of CDs and Music related collectibles available too. Heading into the Greater Orange County Record Show, you go back in time, when music was not digital or on CDs to a realm where vinyls truly lead the way! Walking around, you hear and see the vocalists, musicians, and rockers of the past that can be played on your record player from 78, 45, and 33 1/3 rpms (with that being said, CDs, cassettes, and DVDs are also available). By signing up, a monthly postcard will be sent reminding you of the date and time for the event (which will always happen at the UFCW Union Hall, on the corners of Crescent and Stanton in Buena Park.) Traveling by each table vender, you will locate your musical tastes when going through the file boxes or seeing what are posted (most have the vinyls filed by artists and categories--rock, folk, jazz, etc.) Plus, it is not just musical recordings provided but rocker books, magazines, posters, t-shirts and beyond. When calendaring the date of attendance, allow yourself plenty of time to truly enjoy all they provide by being able to stride through the venue on a casual basis to view and hear the various elements of music recordings and other options. Another true benefit attending is their free customer drawings. When entering, your postcard will be kept, and throughout the event, drawings occur providing the winners a credit to purchase at the record show. The Orange County Record Show - 2015 Greater Orange County Record Show Flyer - Music & DVDs Near Me - Buena Park, California

Time to date myself: the last time I was at this show was around '96 or '97. I remember greatly anticipating the last Sunday of each month, when my parents would drive me and friends up, give me $40, and set me loose for hours of browsing music. Back then vinyl wasn't as white hot, so the majority of dealers were hocking CDs. I have lots of great memories from those shows; still got most of the gems I scored there, too. All of that (seemingly) ended when the Sequoia Athletic Club, where the event was held, got demolished. Recently, a friend brought it to my attention the show was still continuing, in a new location not far from the old one. I went online to look for more information and found an ancient website, likely not updated since I last attended, where you could still be added to the mailing list. Each month, you get a postcard in the mail containing the pertinent information on the show, upcoming dates, and if you return it you'll get $0.50 off admission AND it gets entered into a raffle for credit good at any dealer table. I remember winning $40 all those years ago; I felt like a goddamn king. This new location isn't as big as the other, nor is it as nice. But there are LOTS of dealers in here, and if you can't find at least a dozen titles you want then, friend, you just aren't much of a collector or even much of a music aficionado for that matter. I churned up dozens of rare gems that would've depleted my bank account in a flash. Feel free to haggle here. In fact, you'd be a fool not to because every vendor is almost always willing to knock a few bucks off the price. These people want to sell, and they know you want to buy. Win win. Don't come here looking for contemporary releases. There isn't much new product; it's almost exclusively catalog stuff. You might happen upon a new title at a few tables, but it's rare. These are old record collectors, not hipsters. I'm fairly certain the median age was somewhere around 67. But these are my people, kind of. They're all collectors and music lovers, first and foremost, which is part of what makes this show so much damn fun. Time to reignite my monthly tradition anew. read more

I went back to the show couple of weeks ago. And that was a almost 7-year hiatus. The first time I attended the show was 1995. And from 1995 to 2001, I attended the show almost every month without fail. The show venue has grown smaller. Less vendors definitely. There were still a couple of familiar vendors selling rarities and accessories. I recall the days when the show was at another larger auditorium that felt like the walls stretches to nowhere. Vendors and record enthusiasts packed the auditorium. It would take me about 4 hours to go through everything. Two weeks ago it took me just 1 hour. I did manage to grab a couple of rarities. But the sad trend I witness is that vendors tend to think they have the rarest gems in their procession. Case in point, The Smiths vinyls. Yes they are rare. But not THAT rare. UK editions are more valuable than US prints. But for Hateful of Hollow UK LP that screams $30, it better be least in VG to NM condition, both vinyl and the cover. However the ones I saw at the show were really crappy. You're probably better off getting a deal on Ebay these days. read more

Awesome record show, in a hall filled with tables, records, dvds, cd's and smelly record-sorting music snobs. $3 admission, $2.50 with business reply card and $8 for early admission. I went for my first time today and found it to be everything I expected and more. They allow personal turntables to listen to what you're going to buy before you buy it, and encourage you to bring your old records that you don't want any more for them to buy. I didn't sell any of mine because nobody wanted them (I'll admit, they are rubbish) but will be coming back with other records next time. Between this show, the pasadena show and the san diego show, there are some great places to dig in Socal. read more

Yay! What a perfect find for me as I attempt to rebuild a lost record collection from my youth. This place was a blast from the past as I browsed at everything from early eighties salsa and latin jazz to death row hip hop and more. It was a little overwhelming due to the massive selection of mostly used and sometimes very rare and expensive vinyl. Some vendors sold tapes, CDs and DVDs as well. There was a little snack bar too and I got a coffee for a buck! I walked away with the following artists: Cyndi Lauper, Curtis Mayfield and Beastie Boys. I would recommend this place to ANY vinyl collector as well as those who enjoy people watching and eclectic types of people. read more

If you're looking for anything recent in vinyl (No Record Store Day collectibles), you're better off going to your local record store or Amazon; but if you're into vintage vinyl, this is a great place to scour through boxes and boxes of records. And you'll be doing a lot of digging, since nearly half of the vendors' boxes are un-catagorized, un-alphabetized and just kinda all over the place. I usually cruise the aisles first, checking for specific items before going back around and checking out the non-specific bins. I prefer vendors who pre-price their items rather than always having to ask them per each album. This trip, I found the Original Soundtracks to Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, both in great condition and reasonably priced. Also, an original soundtrack to From Russia with Love for $5. Unfortunately, both copies of Led Zeppelin II I checked out had multiple scratches, which I didn't want to risk. I'm willing to wait to find a great copy at a reasonable price. Most vendors will let you try out their wares on available turntables, but I arrived near closing time and didn't want to waste any time. A lot of vendors start packing things up around 2:00, leaving the remaining vendors kinda crowded. read more

I have been attending the Record Show for about 5 years now, since its days at the now non-existent Sequoia Health Club. This show is for anyone interested in vinyl records and anything having to do with vinyl records. It's located in the UFCW hall, in the shadow of Knotts Berry Farm. There are roughly about 50 vendors at the show selling their 45s and 12s. They range in price from 50 cents to 50 dollars. If you are looking for that specific James Brown record or "Sketches of Spain" by Miles, you will find it here.If you happen to be there and need more cash, which usually happens to me, there is an ATM conveniently located outside. There is also a snack bar in the back corner where they make up a mean corn beef reuben for a few bucks. And don't be surprised if you run into the funky president himself, JRocc. Where do you think he gets some of his beats? So if you are a true audiophile, a collector, and of course, a DJ..this is where you need to be during the last Sunday of each month. read more

This is the only record swap-meet that I've ever been to, and I will always come back. They have several vendors that will certainly cater to your tastes. About more than half of my records were brought from here, namely hip-hop and classic rock records. As a tip for a starting record collector, come late so you will only pay a dollar or not pay any entrance fee at all! This show is for the BIRDS ! 1. Almost everyone expects to pay dirt cheap prices of 50% or less of retail. I'd say 90% of all of these buyers are record record dealers, eBay/Online dealers and/or shop owners. Meaning, everyone EXPECTS to get everything ridiculously cheap. 2. The show's organizer BARELY does any kind of promotion, which is why there is only a few younger buyers/dealers. He thinks that sending his stupid post card in the mail every month is marketing ... I call it ANCIENT & OUTDATED ! No online promotion besides his website from like 1990 ... Which all ultimately leads to NO NEW CUSTOMERS/CLIENTELE COMING TO BUY. The only people that dumb post card attracts is all the old, crusty, dusty & stinky goobers, who think their sh#t doesn't smell like everyone elses. 3. All the older/elite dealers are on one side, while all the random/scragglers who are new/unfamiliar with the so called "clique" of old farts. This ultimately sends all the traffic to one side of the room, and crumbs on the otherside to stretch out with. This show is so left handed & out of date, it needs a complete revamp job. How do they expect to continue & progress, with how fast music trends change, if they WON'T adapt to the present & prep for the future? There's no sign of any consideration for the future for this show the way things have been going. read more

Been involved in dealing records for sometime now just remember there are NO FRIENDS in this business I've been to this record show before and actually seen a dealer rip off another right in front of my face it got nasty. But if your there just to collect or looking for that rare item this might be the place to what you want and get out some dealers get insulted if you just get one item and give an attitude about it. These so called experts in the record business always thinking they know more then others they are no different from me to you, but I will say this I had some guys who been in the business for a long time taken the time to explain the Do's and Dont's and what to look out for for. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to scare anyone away I support this place just wanna experience what I've seen in the past. read more

I just take my time and try to go with some direction as that makes it easier. The people watching is well worth the 2.50 business reply card/3.00 admission. Cool place for records that are not easy to find at records stores. You could end up paying good money for rare records, but there are good finds in bargain bins. So many vendors to choose from, too. There's something for everyone. read more
