Maneki Neko is the sister store of CATCH (which is on the 2nd floor across from Maneki Neko. You…read morecan take the elevator or stairs so they are super close to each other. The first thing I want to bring to your attention is HOW MUCH BLIND BOXES there are of various kinds. You've got some for newer popular anime series to older classic favorites, to several miscellaneous but ultra cute original characters (I'm looking at you, Baby3)! Watch out for end of season sales, although I'm not sure how often these happen, but I was in for a treat the last time I visited in mid-February. They had up to 50% off on select items, and they did not disappoint! One final piece of advice, other than if you're trying to avoid the crowd to arrive at opening hours and avoid the lunchtime, is to BYOB! This means bring your own bag (not booze)! Trust me, you'll wanna thank me later. :) I do recommend a bigger tote bag if you have one at home. The store does provide you with bags, but when your haul gets big/heavy, a nice tote will make carrying all those blind boxes A LOT easier. I went to 3 other merchandise stores including a Final Fantasy popup and ended up chucking everything in my one medium to large canvas tote. My palms thanked me for it. I'll include a picture of next haul since I wrote this review later than intended. Happy shopping!

The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit!

Love coming here for Japanese beauty products, especially lashes and makeup and haircare! They have…read moresome Korean beauty products as well. Every time I come here I always end up spending a couple hundred for big hauls because I want everything haha, but prices aren't bad at all. This last time I got a free diffuser as a gift with purchase! They also suggested buying these Japanese cough drops since I was headed to a concert (which - good looking out! was absolutely needed and helpful). They even checked the ingredients in Japanese to make sure that I wouldn't have any allergic reactions which was so sweet! Service has been consistently great every time that I've visited here. This last time I went was super early on a weekday though, so wasn't busy at all. It was shortly after they opened because I happened to have an appointment in the area and needed some beauty products for a trip. They were great with answering all of my beauty questions! The only con may be parking when it's busy or later in the day. I've tried coming here at night before but struggled to find parking when the lot was full and there weren't any spots on the street nearby. So definitely try to plan to come earlier in the day/when it's less busy.

As you can expect the items are going to be more expensive than if you got them in Japan but for the convenience it's great. There are even gatchapon machines in an area of the store. I love going to Tokyo and this brought me back to Don Qxuiote (which may be good or bad depending if you like that type of merchandising). There is a paid parking lot in the plaza or street parking as well but watch for signs!

We were interested in stopping because it was our first time there and wanted to see it, however, we only had approximately one hour to explore. The shopping center wasn't too busy yet since it was so early, but also most all of the stores were closed as well. We did not get the complete experience of everything that this mall offers. A couple of bakeries were open when we visited and I am glad that we stopped! They allowed us to get some sweet treats and pastries, and they actually became one of the highlights of our trip to Little Tokyo! Although some of the stores weren't opened yet, it was great just to explore the area! All of the storefronts at the mall and surrounding Plaza were decorated for the holiday season. This brought an extra layer of charm to the shopping trip and helped create a cozy, festive ambiance! The quietness of the early morning hours created a amazing environment for us to walk through and enjoy our short little excursion to this beautiful shopping center! Although my visit was brief, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would love to go back again, but next time during afternoon or evening hours when all the shops are open so I can finally see everything the Little Tokyo Mall has to offer!

I've seen Anime Jungle evolve and take over the entirety of the underground mall area. RIP to Fairytale Boutique, Fickle Wish, Xenon, and the day and age where Anime Jungle had their own dedicated shop for visual kei and J-rock. Never forget what you've lost. Other businesses have come and gone, like the mochi ice cream place. If you ever get mochi ice cream at the supermarket, it's likely from them and the macaron place that I loved, but alas, tis the world we live in. Other than the Anime Jungle that I go to and Little Akihabara LA for their pop ups and events, I also go to Monkey Pants, sometimes I swing into the Sanrio shop (they usually do the character meet and greets here, if not at JapanLA or somewhere egregiously far), Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle (they got staff POSTED there due to the thefts I'm sure, but I've gotten my bearded dragon keychain here and now I have them in all sizes), Catch (located on the 3rd floor and is MASSIVE for blind boxes and other goods), Neko Stop (I've gotten better deals here than the location in the Santa Anita Mall), and I've stopped in the Nijiya when I've been trapped there to get snacks or some bottled tea. Love the bakery there and the meat buns that they have (despite prices constantly rising due to the capitalist hellscape we live in) and the cafe to get affordable savory dango and takoyaki. The okonomiyaki place is one of the best, if not only places to get okonomiyaki at a place dedicated to the dish. Once in awhile they do a collab with multiple restaurants, not just at the mall too, such as Silent Hill F, Reincarnated into a Slime, during AX, Arknights, etc. Really drives the crowds and businesses here which is nice. Parking at the structure is a bit pricy and can get super fisted with bad drivers though, so keep that in mind.
