I enjoy their flavors personally! Give me a grande sancho please and refried beans. Service is usually very fast and orders are correct.

I really was over burger places and…read moremost small towns in Kansas have an okay Mexican restaurant so after looking on Yelp we found ourselves here. I will say that the hours are very confusing and you'll find different information on if they are open Saturdays depending on where you look. When we were there I noticed a sign on the door that said they are open every other Saturday - so you might have to call if you don't want to chance it on the weekend. Now onto the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that it's in a historic old building downtown, and I loved the charm of the place. The owners have clearly put some work into giving it it's own flair and it's honestly a fun ambiance to dine in. The servers were all super friendly as well, and the food was pretty good. I'd give the food a B+ for tex mex but in a small town I think it's probably closer to an A-. My only real complaint about this place was that the highchair didn't have really any belts or anything to buckle our baby into so I spent most of our meal making sure she wasn't falling, or just holding her which isn't ideal for enjoying a meal. Overall, though, this place is a nice local spot that I'd return to if in the area. It's family friendly with good service and decent food.

We ordered a Chicken Chimichanga and the Al Pastor Tacos. Both meals were delicious and came out faster than we could devour the fresh, warm chips. The food was excellent. My daughter and I each ordered large bowls of Menudo. It was delicious. Lots of tripe. More tripe than hominy, which is important to me, as some restaurants add lots of hominy to make it go farther. The broth was oh so good, not greasy or fatty tasting, with the right amount of spices. The bowls were good sized. My wife ordered the nachos, which she loved. Pretty big plate. She couldn't finish it all. Great taste. She's not a big meat eater, so asked for only half the meat on her nachos, and there was still a good portion of taco meat on there. I'll get my own nachos next time as how i've now seen how much you get on nachos. A meal in itself. Along with my menudo, I ordered a Carnitas Gordita. For those that don't know or have never tried one, it's sort of like a Mexican deep fried pita then stuffed with your choice of meat. It was soo good. The gordita wasn't greasy, plenty of carnitas, lettuce, white cheese...OMG, just go get one and try for yourself. They have other meats but I'm hooked on the carnitas! The staff was friendly, courteous, prompt with food. They have Mexican products for sale on the side of the place, ergo, the "Mercado" part. Will definitely be going back.

When we pulled up and saw the cracked glass front door, we hesitated. Hard. It looked like the opening scene of a crime drama. But traffic had been hell, and our stomachs won. We pressed on--and we're glad we did. The Pollo Loco was downright delicious: a juicy, thinly smashed chicken breast grilled just right, blanketed in melty cheese and topped with slices of perfectly ripe avocado. I was licking my fork, trying to pretend I had table manners. The refried beans got my attention: "Wait... did they do something special to these?" I seriously considered ordering a pint to go. L devoured his Tacos Barbacoa Salazar and washed it down with a mango margarita, giving both an enthusiastic double thumbs-up. The service was friendly, chill, no-nonsense--just what you want when you've been in a car for hours on the verge of becoming feral. Would 100% stop again. Ignore the door. Trust your gut. This place is a hidden gem.

I ordered the Street Tacos (not what they were called here but what I normally call them) absolutely perfect! The steak was moist & delicious, the salsa, lime, cilantro & onions all perfect together. I ate 2 & have one for lunch tomorrow. Hubby had the chicken enchiladas with beans. He was asked if he wanted salsa & he replied no, along with no cheese (allergies) his plate came out plain (as photo shows) instead of correcting this he mixed his beans over the top & enjoyed. (He wasn't disappointed) Our friend had the steak fajitas & they were delicious, hot, spicy & just delicious. Yes, I had a bite, but he tried mine too & decided that's what he's getting next time! My peach margarita was peachy deliciousness what a perfect blend of peach & tequila. Our server was perfectly knowledgeable & courteous, checking on us frequently. We got there just as dinner was starting (between 530-600) the restaurant started filling up but the atmosphere wasn't crowded or loud perfect for table side conversations. Priced right at under $55 for 3 people. What a wonderful little gem in small town America. Definitely a must on your Kansas journey.
