While visiting in Redmond we went to the Original pancake house and it was pretty busy, but got seated right away. The host was very nice and got us a special carrier that you could put the car seat carrier right on to it, but our little one did not want to miss anything so we had to get a high chair for her so she could be right were the food and conversation was. I ordered the bacon & eggs & pancake set and the bacon was their special thick cut that they bring in which was very tasty! The pancakes were light and fluffy and they brought over 3 types of syrups a honey, lemon and the maple syrup. I had the lemon and it was very good and the flavor of the lemon was great with no tangy taste. The thick bacon was very good and tasty and not overly salty, My wife had the waffle and she enjoyed it with the maple syrup. We walked (and wheeled) my MIL over from Touchmark so this was a big A+ in my book. Excellent Breakfast! The eggs were perfectly basted. The fruit in the crepe was ripe, fresh and light. Food made us all sick. We ordered different things but we still all got sick from their food

I didn't know this was a really popular chain, but my friends did, which is how I came here. the interior has a very cute diner feel with the plasticy metal swivel chairs and the linoleum covered tables and I loved every moment of it! I just got the standard pancakes, eggs and bacon, and it was such a yummy and comforting meal. Really good and cannot go wrong at all here. We stopped in here on the way out of town as we drove from WA to CA. It was awesome that they were open at the early hour we hit the road, and when we arrived, we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. The parking lot was super dark and completely empty, so we got the pick of parking and tables. I think we went to an original pancake house in Hawaii or somewhere along our national travels with the military, but we remembered the menu and some of the things we had eaten before. Unfortunately, what we remembered and what we ended up being served were very different things. I ordered the corn pancakes ($9.50) and the waitress said "there are a lot of them, do you know that?" and I said "ok, then can I have a half order?" She ended up giving me the child's portion which is 3 pancakes instead of 6 but it was still way too much food. I also ordered the biscuit with butter and jam ($3.50), and he ordered the sourdough pancakes ($9.75). Despite being the only ones there, it took awhile to get the food to us. Once we were served, we were really disappointed in the food. Everything seemed to be lacking salt, and the flavors were just really bland and flat. These were not the pancakes we've had before, and they were just really heavy, doughy, and boring. The biscuit tasted like it was just made with leftover pancake dough so it was much of the same. The only good thing was the coffee, which was basically as good as we remembered. Overall, not a bad price for a lot of food, but that lot of food is pretty low quality. Service was not very friendly and surprisingly long wait, and definitely not worth the time or money for the product. Given how diverse and interesting the food scene is in Oregon, if I had the chance I would definitely not return to eat here again. read more

Visiting Bend, was happy to see that this place was right across from our hotel, we used to go to the one in Pleasant Hill, CA before it closed down. Typical breakfast place in regards to the environment. Had the Corned Beef with eggs and upgraded to a side of French toast. Corned Beef was super good, not your typical canned version, which gives it a good taste, should have asked for it a little more done/crispy. Over medium eggs were cooked well, but the size of the eggs seemed to be real small. French toast was good with the crispy edges, but yeah not true maple syrup. It was as expected, bummed that they did not have the Irish Omelette that we would normally get in Northern CA. Our waitress, Michelle, was great and seemed to know all the local folks that step in. They are NOT kidding about how perfect these pancakes are - clearly this place has got it down pat! We arrived mid-morning on a weekday, and thankfully there wasn't a wait. Seated immediately, I was heartened to see so many patrons being greeted by name - clearly there are local regulars, and that's always a good sign. After perusing the large menu, we opted for breakfast (of course!) and I couldn't resist a classic - Joe's special: pancakes, bacon, eggs, with a side of lingonberry sauce. It did not disappoint. Our meals arrived within minutes, piping hot and served with all the right accoutrements - syrup, butter, etc. I dove into the fluffiest buttermilk pancakes you've ever seen, and they were better than I can make at home. I scarfed down all of them, then turned to my oh-so-crispy bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs. A little salt and pepper was all the eggs needed, and soon those were gone too! For being a pancake house, they serve fake maple syrup, which is essentially high fructose corn syrup with a little maple flavoring. The excuse is Maple is too expensive, which is nonsense. You can go to Costco and buy a half gallon for a few dollars. When I commented the response I got from the manager was bureaucratic bullshit not the type of response you would expect to get in standing restaurant. You can be indulgent by adding sour cream and cheese to everything with a generous side of thick cut bacon or you can be low calorie conscious and get egg whites with veggies. You can enjoy all the carbs with a Dutch baby or sourdough pancakes. Something for everyone. Never ending cups of coffee - that makes me feel pretty fancy. We have patronized those restaurant for years, always with good service. Today, it wasn't very busy at least half empty asked for a table for 3 or 4. The hostess told we would be called when everyone arrived. I asked if we could have coffee. Once again told I had to wait for the arrival of the entire party. I wanted coffee so I changed it to 2. The hostess was irritated and showed us to a table. Soon after, our guest showed up. We had already ordered. The waitress was waiting on the table next to us. I waved. at her just to make her aware that we had another person. She loudly rudely replied, "I'm waiting on someone else!" What happened here? What happened to this nice friendly restaurant?
