I love OPH, but was disappointed how much slower this location moves than some of the others. I'd recommend making a reservation if you are wanting to guarantee a short wait. The waitlist doesn't tell you where you are in line so it could be anything between 15 min to 90 min. We were told several different wait times by different staff members (20 min, 45 min, 90 min) which makes it difficult to know if we should abandon our place on the waitlist or not. It's a really big space so there is plenty of seating which is great. Service is good - staff is nice! I think there a some variation between OPH locations and the menus. This spot didn't have any sort of seasonal or special menus like some of the other OPHs in the Metro. This location is closer to me than some others, but I'd prefer to drive a bit farther to a faster OPH. read more

I got the raspberry French toast and loaded hashbrowns. This is my favorite place to get hasbrowns because they have onions and cheese added. Our server was funny and nice I forgot to grab his name. Always a great experience at OPH. Today we tried the Greek bowl, lumberjack bowl, breakfast quesadilla, and ultimate B.L.A.T. Thumbs up all around! Had the 49er flapjacks, cinnamon pancakes and hash browns for sides. I wouldn't say the hash browns are anything special, just typical. Great flavors in both the bowls. The Greek Scramble Bowl was . I usually don't like olives.... Not sure what it was about this dish, but I think it made me like olives?? There inside was updated, spacious, and warm; however, we were seated in a separated area alone next to the servers kiosk and it awkwardly quiet. This place is amazing! The service was so friendly from the hostess who seated us to the waitress who served us. The restaurant is nicely decorated and my mother who is hard of hearing could hear us and have a conversation. Lots of windows so lots of natural light. The food was so darn good! Solid breakfast food! I'm not too much of a sweet breakfast person, so I appreciated they had some savory options, even in the house specialties section. All of the food came out incredibly hot and fresh. Very much a homey, family vibe to it. Great service too--it was a busy morning, but our server Kailey was WAY on top of things and checked on us often! The Garden Dutch ($15) had a great vegetable portion with melty cheese, and the dutch baby itself was nice and fluffy. Also worth mentioning that it reheated well when I inevitably had to take most of it home because it's HUGE! I also got a side of hashbrowns ($6.75) which, while good, was a bit overpriced. A bit of a wait to be seated but no more than 10 minutes. The food portions are HUGE and the menu has something for everyone!! The chocolate chip pancakes are always a must with the chocolate batter (I will never have a better chocolate chip pancake) BUT I will be ordering these cinnamon bun pancakes going forward. My husband and I were in town visiting friends and sightseeing and stopped by the Original Pancake House for brunch after an incredible experience at Prince's Paisley Park. The food, service and hospitality exceeded our expectations. My avocado toast and side of French toast were exceptional! I didn't think I could finish it all and I looked up and had eaten every morsel. We had the sweetest conversation with the Manager, Scottie B and he made our day! My dad has celiac and specified when ordering to our server Emilia that he wanted gluten free pancakes. When our meal came out he raved about how good the pancakes were to our server. She said they weren't gluten free. We were alarmed and luckily my dad's disease is not life threatening or else we would have a different story. Let alone she acted unprofessional and blamed him that he didn't spell it out when she repeated it back to him gluten free. She talked to management and they took off $2 on our $47 dollar bill. As we sat there shocked we went to management ourselves and he made it clear that she in fact did not talk to management. The manager was helpful but we will not be going back to OPH again. read more

This location accept reservations and is very clean! We were able to get a Sunday morning reservation with 10 people. I very much appreciate that they now have gluten free batter for a lot of their pancakes. My strawberry pancakes were absolutely delicious and they keep the gluten free items very separate from the rest (even a different plate color). It is SO appreciated. read more

I have Celiac Disease and just about everything can be safely made GF for me. I don't have many options for GF in Minot ND, so I happily drive roughly 8-9 hours to visit family and it is now tradition we go to OPH. They take serious precautions when ordering GF. They have designated GF labeled sticks and red plates that denote GF. My favorite are the crepes! Those strawberry crepes are so dang good every time! I have never gotten sick from OPH. Unfortunately we made it for the wrong location!! :( they were so accommodating for us the host didn't skip a beat she said no worries we will find seating for you! This speaks numbers! This location of this Original Pancake House is great, kind of hidden away and not nearly as busy as other locations. I love that the nowait has transitioned to yelp and that you can our your name in early and not have to wait at the location for 30+ minutes to be seated. It's a family friendly restaurant that offers a wide variety of brunch items. We put our name in and had about 30 parties ahead of us so we waited until there was about 15 before we showed up. When we walked in the waiting area was packed. It's a small waiting room with not many places to stand once all the seats are full. We had to move a few times to allow people to check in, get coffee and go up with their buzzer until some seats opened up. I will say, we asked for a booth and were seated very fast which we appreciate! Once seated, our waitress wasn't particularly friendly, she seemed a little annoyed that we wanted to order food before the rest of our party arrived. My husbands cup had a weird old stain on it which was kind of unappetizing, and when our two friends came they both noticed some stains on their glasses too. Our food did come really fast, I ordered buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips and the hash browns, my husband got the bacon and cheese omelet and our friends got the egg specialty with hash brown and the other got the same as me. We love coming here just for the food, it tastes so great! The pancakes are a huge portion for less than $10 which is awesome! My husband really enjoyed his omelet, the only thing that was a little irritating is that the waitress came by twice right when we got our food but then didn't come back for a while and we all needed refills to down our carbs! This location is not quite like some of the others, it's very modern and in a way lacks the charm of the edina location, but has some really unique touches like the fireplace and the light fixtures. There are a few different spaces, we like being in the main room as we felt the smaller once was a little loud as voices carry more and waiters don't come through as often, but also we love the booths! Overall, we come here for the food, it's a 4.5 in my eyes for the things I've tried. The chocolate chip pancakes with regular batter is my fav, but the strawberry waffle is also great, the cinnamon swirl pancakes are rich but also very good. The side choices are good, but the price is not. Three pieces of bacon is the same price as a whole package of organic bacon from the grocery store. The price of the sides really surprised us considering how decent prices are for the actual food!! So Id skip the sides, and don't come here expecting top notch service. The few times we've come we haven't had service that has stuck out to us even a bit. We would have liked more attentive service, so that's the biggest reason I give three stars. And the price for the sides, not clean glasses and lack of refills. We will come back for the delicious pancakes, but that's about it. read more

I am torn about only giving this place three stars. The service is always great. The inside pre-Covid is very nice and the place always packed with gobs if people I know. I love their coffee mugs and the coffee is good. During the pandemic, I do appreciate being able to reserve a table. Staff has masks on. Tables far apart. However, while they do have the code you can scan to see their menu, they still gave us laminated menus ... really odd. I later watched a teen customer at another table rubbing her face from forehead to chin with her menu repeatedly- yikes! Our waiter was great, except for never refilling my wife's soda - he was very prompt with coffee refills, though. What I don't like is a generally extremely unhealthy menu. So bad I stopped going here a while ago even though my family goes all the time. The corned beef hash with eggs over easy - yummy! But come on, America is fat enough, and these glutinous menu options are not helping us stay fit and avoid illness. Enough of my soap box lectures. We were also surprised by how long our food took to came out (35 minutes for everyone except mine, which came a few minutes later). More surprising was the manager walking up to us with ten minutes left in our hour booking and telling his we had to vacate because the next customers were waiting. We did tell her the food arrived late, which she apologized for. I guess eat in 15 minutes and get out. Another reason to dislike the place. I won't be back. read more

It's a a shame that the OPH closes at 3:00pm because sometimes a person gets a hankering for breakfast at dinner time, or later. The staff is great. Since my first visit, we've been back three or four more times. Every visit has been five star. Of course we tried a lot of things on the menu, and of course the pancakes are great, but so are the salads and sandwiches. One personal recommendation, the BLAT with fried egg sandwich.
