Went here for a spontaneous happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon and arrived just in time to put in a happy hour order. This is a newer spot in Excelsior that opened summer 2025. Here's my review of the food we ordered: Cocktail of the hour - aka "Golden Hour" - 8.5/10 Reminded me of mulled cider, notes of honey, very refreshing Pork Belly Steam Buns - 8.1/10 Nice texture, very tender and flavorful Mini Banh Mi - 7/10 Not bad, would have preferred the more traditional pork filling Crispy Chicken- 8.7/10 This really surprised me, from appearance the chicken didn't look that special but it was well seasoned and the sweet chili glaze really stole the show and elevated this dish! Mirabelle Smash Burger - 8.9/10 I'm a sucker for smash burgers and this one did not disappoint. Nice crispy bun and a special mustard sauce that we enjoyed and a different flavor I don't usually have on my burger Sticky Ribs - 5/10 Unfortunately these were quite dry and was comparing to sticky ribs I had last week at CoV that were fall off the bone Overall good spot, service, atmosphere, and would be happy to return. I wanted to like this place, I really did. But unless they get a different chef in the kitchen, this place is not going to make it.... Let's start with the positives! The location! Very close to the lake(walking distance) There is a free parking ramp right behind the building. The decor of this place is cute! The details seem like they were well thought out! It feels upscale and cozy! I saw a video of this place and that was what originally drew me in! The seating here is also comfortable and not over crowded. Our server was ok. I saw so many raves about the "amazing service." She did refill our water glasses, which was good because I needed it with the salty steak! Obviously the most important piece is the food. We started with the popovers. The taste was fine but the texture was almost over done. The honey butter was lacking honey flavor. Cinnamon would have really elevated the butter! I got the steak frites and my sister got the spaghetti. My fries were average. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium all the way through! I was impressed. However, it was drowning in a VERY salty sauce! I had push a lot of it off. This should be served on the side, not covering the whole steak. My sister got the spaghetti, which our waitress explained was not a regular spaghetti. I feel she has probably had to do that multiple times and honestly, it should just be renamed. It's confusing for the customer. My sister did say she enjoyed the dish and that the shrimp was ere done well. For dessert I got "Aunties iced latte" which is their version of like an espresso martini. It was just ok. Would not get again. We got the carrot cake which was good!! But then they ruined it by putting fake whipped cream.... This is supposed to be a higher end restaurant and that made the dessert feel so cheap. We also got the creme brûlée. DO NOT ORDER THAT! It is an absolute waste of money! The sugar top was so thick we couldn't eat it! The dessert had the consistency of scrambled eggs, not a smooth custard. The taste seemed ok, but whoever made this does not know what they are doing! Overall, the food was not memorable and a lot of it was done poorly. The main menu was fairly limited for my picky taste - which I knew before going, however they have wings and fries on the happy hour menu in which I thought I'd be able to order from. Mirabelle was chosen for friends night out due to the social media post and it looking great on socials. I'd first like to say the staff here were amazing. We were helped by quite a few of them during our dining experience. We were even given a guided tour of the rentable event space, as well as the 2 other restaurant concepts they run, which are connected to Mirabelle. Shiki - Japanese inspired noodle bar, and Parlour Bar - Speakeasy vibes. Mirabelle has more of a supper club atmosphere. Back to the dining experience, we all ordered the drink special - I don't recall the name but we all enjoyed it. Kind of like a cosmo. We were able to catch a few things from the happy hour. As I said earlier I was looking forward to ordering the wings, which I did, but was later informed they ran out - we did go at dinner opening on a Monday - maybe they had a super busy week. I was left to only trying cheese curds and fries which were okay, nothing special. Others tried the caesar salad, a shrimp pasta dish, popcorn, and a few other dishes. Overall they weren't very impressed either. Probably would have enjoyed the other concepts a bit more personally. 10 of us came on a weeknight. We started with the grilled oysters, raw oysters, meat and cheese plate, relish tray, beer battered cheese curds, and smoked trout dip for all to share. They went fast and everyone enjoyed them. I didn't realized the trout spread came in other plates. That would have been good to know. Next two guys got the shaved prime rib salad. Every other guy practically drooled over it and wished they had ordered it! Both guys finished it and said it was excellent. We split sides of broccoli and the kale with beans. Both were good. The kale wasn't a crowd pleaser but I liked it. I had the crab stuffed Walleye for my my main course. Quite a few of us had it. The crab stuffing was excellent and obviously fresh. But the fish was overcooked. I was a bit disappointed in that. We didn't get any dessert. Service was excellent. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday evening with my fiancé. I love the look of the place. Our server Woody was great. The hostess was great. We had the popover to start, absolutely wonderful. I had the Silk Stocking cocktail, different but very good. My fiancé had a glass of wine. They gave us the drinks and roasted carrots on the house which was very cool. For entrees, my fiance had the Wednesday special which was the Stroganoff, the beef was very tender, great dish. I had the pork chop with cabbage, loved it. The only reason I won't give it a 5 is because I didn't get a chance to check out the restroom. I know that sounds odd, but the cleanliness of the restroom matters to me. We've eaten here twice in the past month to this stylish hot spot in downtown excelsior. We love the chic atmosphere and the servers are VERY friendly and attentive. We've visited with another couple on each visit. I enjoyed the Mirabell Old Fashiond drink on both visits and my wife appreciates the lengthy list of wines by the glass. We've tried a bunch of things and were particularly fond of the crab cake (appetizer but my wife had it on both visits as her main) and the cheese curds with the yummy dill dipping sauce. Of course, popovers are a stand out as well and come three to an order but you can always have them sell you a 4th. On our most recent visit we tried the sunday night special - fried chicken. Since this restaurant group now owns the secret recipes from Revival (and will soon be starting up a food truck), they are missing out on a BIG revenue opportunity. The sunday chicken was good - but there would be lines out the door if it was the Revival recipe - hint, hint. the Crab stuffed walleye was interesting (sort of roulade preparation) and very light on my first visit. If you are there on a wednesday, the Lasagne is HUGE and that night's special. The large caesar salad was enough for 3-4 people to share so keep that in mind. will definitely be back. read more

Great restaurant. Very brightly lit (stark contrast to the Irish bar that preceded it). We went for restaurant week although ultimately the prices were really moderate such that my meal was less not on restaurant week! The wild rice soup was delicious! Creamy with the chunks of carrot and celery being small which I like. A really good value too. The salad was good I'm told also. ;) My bucatini was good, done perfectly although there was a good amount of oil in the bottom of the bowl at the end indicating the sauce had broken. The French dip was flavorful and incredibly tender and the salmon was perfectly done and a nice healthy option. Carrot cake was also tasty. It was a little loud (partly due to crying babies and some Chatty ladies) I think because there's nothing to deaden the sound, but we enjoyed the meal thoroughly. I am honestly not sure why this place has such great reviews. I had been wanting to try it for a while, and we drove an hour one day to finally check it out. Unfortunately, we left feeling pretty underwhelmed by everything we ordered. Sad because we went there with high expectations. Most of our items were from the happy hour menu, but even the main dishes were good, not great. My prime rib sandwich came with an au jus that was surprisingly bland. The popular popovers did not live up to the hype either because they were too eggy and lacked the light, fluffy texture. The trout dip was overwhelmed with cream cheese, which masked any real trout flavor. The only thing I would order again would be the fries. They were crispy and paired well with a tasty aioli. On a positive note, the servers were super friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. That said, based on the food alone, I will not return. read more

The food was not that good, came here with a group of friends and was genuinely excited to try it based on some good social media marketing, but was sadly disappointed. The vibe of the restaurant is beautiful and such a nice dining space, upscale in that regard. Price was alright in comparison to twin cities pricing but the flavor of most items was completely missing. They may be catering to the Midwest palette but out of everything we tried the best tasting was the Smoked Trout Dip but even that was mostly cream cheese and not as much smoked trout. We also shared the Caesar salad (asked to have it taken back because there was no Caesar flavor just lemon juice), popovers (odd cornbread texture but tasteless), agnolotti (no truffle flavor), spaghetti (not a lot of flavor, small frozen shrimp). Some people at the table got cheese curds, popcorn, and fries. The fries the first round were hot and crispy/tasty then the second round were extremely hard and cold. Lots of inconsistency. One friend got the French dip on the happy hour menu, the au jus had zero flavor, tasted like grocery store sodium free bone broth. The manager was very kind and took us on a tour of the space and showed us their hidden speakeasy ramen shop and the parlour burger there. Staff was friendly. A great new addition to downtown excelsior! Mirabelle is inviting with a classy but homey ambiance. It was extremely busy but wasn't overwhelmingly crowded and we still had great, attentive service. We split the popovers and glazed carrots as appetizers and both were delicious. The popovers came out fresh & hot. The beets with the carrots were a really nice addition. The agnolotti pasta fish was perfectly delicate but not at all over cooked. The creamy sauce was actually pretty light and not too rich which I was happy about! The next time I come I will definitely try out some of their other pasta dishes, as both the spaghetti & bucatini came highly reccomended by our server. My friend who had the French dip sandwich said it was spectacular! Additionally, I ordered the crab stuffed walleye to bring back home which was also rated a 10/10. NOMd: - popovers. texture was more of a egg based cornbread. - skin on fries. the first batch smacked and that aoili? yumm. but the second batch was overcooked and very hard. - cheese curds. just some curds nothing special - popcorn. i'm not sure where the flavor of the bacon oil was but it just tasted like unseasoned popcorn. - french dip. the au jus had 0 flavor. i didn't taste the sandwich but my friend said the beef was decent. - trout toast. never had this before but it wasn't bad not too fishy, tolerable. - caesar salad. croutons were hard as a rock and did not taste like caesar salad. we ended up sending it back. - agnoatolli. i like this one better the spaghetti however my other two friends liked the spaghetti better. very light but lacked depth. - spaghetti. heavy shrimp base and herb flavor in the pasta. not really what i was expecting. felt it was missing a lot. YUMd: - cocktail of the hour: queen of hearts. all 5 of us got these and we all liked it. very smooth and fruity. service, etc.: our waiters were nice and the manager gave us a tour of their other 2 restaurants attached which was cool and kind of him. i do want to try those out but unfortunately don't think i'll be coming back to mirabelle. it was super cute and vibey but the food just wasn't it. read more

Got take out and it wasn't awful but the bread from the popovers was pretty dense. Serving size was very small for my meal and it was the Agnolotti Pasta. I will add a picture so you can see. I personally don't think there was much flavor and definitely didn't taste any truffle. read more

I love visiting Jester restaurants and always expect the best, but Mirabelle did not quite make my leaderboard. The interior is perfectly decorated in pastels and soft lighting. We were seated in the mezzanine for our reservation, but waited a significant amount of time before before our server stopped by. We ordered the smoked trout dip anticipating a warm appetizer, but was served cold. It came with 3 pieces of baguette, but our server was kind enough to replenished them so we could finish the dip. We tried to order order the daily special, but by 7:30 they were out for the evening -- settled for the parlor burger and stuffed manicotti. The pasta was good, but not a show stopper. I'd skip this. popovers // $11 // no hot takes, this continues to be a fav order of mine here side salads that came with two of the entrees // basic but fresh and solid ingredient combo. roasted carrots // usually $12, but our wonderful server Woody sent these over free, insisting my parents got to try them. DELICIOUS. Just like last time. Worth the add-on. Wednesday night special: lasagna w/ garlic bread & a salad // $32 // hearty portion for the cost. pretty standard in terms of taste and comparable with what you'd receive at an Italian restaurant. my dad wasn't "wowed." roasted half chicken // $29 // looked and reportedly tasted the best out of everything that landed on our table. carrot cake // a portion size you simply won't fathom -- photo just can't do it justice. delicious, shareable and sweet. overall, a very nice night and an unbeatable ambiance when it comes to excelsior dining. food wasn't as impressive as my first visit, but cocktails remained steady & service was impeccable. read more

Warm hospitality, great food, and a pork chop that deserves its own spotlight We had a business dinner at Mirabelle and were impressed from start to finish. I made our reservation through OpenTable and messaged them about a timing change--they were flexible and accommodating, which set a great tone. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and promptly seated. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and took great care of us throughout the evening. We kicked things off with the relish tray and crabcakes. Both were excellent, though the deviled eggs were surprisingly bland. For mains, we had the crab-stuffed walleye, the New York strip, and the Tuesday double-cut pork chop. That pork chop was massive--more like a small roast--and incredibly juicy and flavorful. The walleye was also a standout. The New York strip was well-cooked, though it could've used a bit more seasoning. Even with a busy dining room, the atmosphere remained warm and the noise levels low enough for easy conversation. We'll absolutely return the next time we're in Excelsior. Mirabelle delivered a great experience. read more

This is an adorable restaurant with a fantastic bar. The staff offer excellent service are super friendly and very concerned about your experience. The management clearly supports that philosophy. They have a great variety of tap beers, and we have loved their "cocktails of the day. " We've had excellent food experiences there. A standout appetizer to us are the sticky pork ribs. Such a cute new spot in Excelsior! Bar is first come first serve which is nice as it's hard to get a reservation right now. We had the lobster Mac for our appetizer, soooo good and creamy! Not a ton of lobster but a few pieces throughout. Then split the agnolotti and crab stuffed walleye for dinner with the carrots as the side. We loved everything! Carrots were my least favorite but good flavor and nice size for sharing. The walleye was absolutely fabulous - so buttery and tender. When you enter Mirabelle you immediately know you are in a Jester Group Restaurant. Light stylish decor creating feelings of serenity and warmth. Service was top notch. We arrived with an 8pm reservation opening night, and our table was ready on arrival. We got a very private booth where we cuddled up with the menu. We ordered Pinot Noir to start, and shortly thereafter, a bread basket with whipped butter arrived. The soft bread had a nice crust--and the butter was creamy! Next, our soups arrived. We ordered a cup of each soup: Chicken Wild Rice and Beer Cheese. We enjoyed the beer cheese--it had bacon and popcorn. However, the Chicken Wild Rice was the winner. So delicious. We loved the sage in there. For entrees we ordered the French Dip sandwich and Buffalo Chicken wings with Garlic Mashed Potatoes (as they were out of the daily special: Meatloaf). The wings come with blue cheese and pickled celery slices. They were excellently crispy and not too spicy! The French Dip was succulent and the bread was soft. The garlic mashed potatoes were almost creamed and decadent. We finished with cocktails: AUNTIE'S ICED LATTE and ROOT BEER BARREL NEGRONI. I loved the Iced Latte cocktail. I didn't get a taste of the root beer barrel. But it looked good! Lastly, we received an Old Fashioned--it was amazing! The service was wonderful. Our server, Meghann, was extra special. We waited over 25 minutes at the bar without being acknowledged, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. After receiving our first drink, service remained slow and inconsistent, including the bartender walking away mid-order. We ended up ordering only the shrimp cocktail appetizer for food, and both of us became ill afterward. A floor server was kind and helpful, but overall service was uncomfortable and inattentive. Loved our visit here. We sat in the front part of the restaurant with swivel chairs at a place close to the front door. It still felt very cozy. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and we were given all the time we wanted to eat and chat with a 6:30pm reservation. Best deal here is to get a $5 beer cheese soup, split the popovers and get a brandy manhattan. We could have almost been full on that after a late lunch. I'll definitely be back. read more

The food took over 30 minutes to arrive and when it arrived only 3 out of four dishes were served so when the last dish came after further delay the others had already finished. I went here on opening night with a party of 6 and Mirabelle did not disappoint. The vibe is supper club-inspired but with a more elevated and elegant feel. The cozy booth seating, layered layout, and gorgeous lighting (which reminded me of oysters) made the space feel both intimate and upscale. Nautical touches were woven in throughout, right down to how the napkins were folded. We sat slightly upstairs at a walnut table and enjoyed great service and excellent cocktails. I loved my Blackberry Lilac Manhattan, and the gimlet was another favorite. My husband ordered the Mirabelle Old Fashioned with a rotating whiskey blend--interesting, though not quite my taste. I appreciated that they also serve a classic Brandy Old Fashioned, which is a true supper club staple. Food-wise, we tried a little of everything. The popovers with honey butter were a standout. The crabcake wasn't my favorite, but the jumbo wings were a hit at the table. We didn't try the relish tray but saw a few and will definitely order it next time. The bread basket featured local sourdough that was excellent. The Caesar and wedge salads were solid but nothing memorable--I'd like to try the shaved prime rib one next. Soups were overall good-the beer cheese (topped with popcorn) felt traditional. The chicken wild rice was hearty and flavorful, would love this for a soup and salad combo! For mains, the glazed meatloaf (Monday special) was fantastic, paired with super creamy mashed potatoes. The prime rib was one of the best I've had. But the roasted half chicken stole the show--it was incredibly juicy and flavorful, even for someone like me who usually avoids bone-in chicken. The only drawbacks were the temperature--it felt a bit warm inside--and the noise level, which made conversation tricky at times. Still, for an opening night, Mirabelle absolutely delivered. Really wanted to like this place. Mirabelle takes over the spot previously occupied by Bull & Wren in downtown Excelsior. We went at 5 pm on a Sunday. By the time we left, it was pretty busy. It has been fully remodeled; it's inviting and looks great. The service was fast, friendly and overall very good. Wine and beer list was good, cocktails were mediocre; both the Old Fashion and Manhattan were underwhelming, a bit light. Then there was the food. Sub-par for all four of us. The crab cake was ok but had about 4 times more aioli than it needed. The fried chicken was a bit dry and flavorless (if it was brined, I would lose a bet). The mac and cheese; pasta was over cooked and glued together with cheese. The agnolotti was pretty bland, my wife added grilled chicken; which was grilled but with no detectible salt, pepper, or any other seasonings. The manicotti was the best of the dishes, very heavy on the ricotta, but nothing to write home about. The roasted broccoli was just that, roasted and served with parmesan on top, could not detect the chili or anchovy indicated on the menu. We really wanted to like this place, but there is a lot of work needed in the kitchen. I like to give places a second chance (Mirabelle had been open about 2 months). However none of the food was worth getting again. If I hear that big improvements have been made, I'll give it a second chance, but right now I don't see that happening. read more

Shaved Prime Rib Salad... this was a plate of shaved prime rib with two cornichons and a sprig of parsley . We asked the waiter where the salad portion of the meal was. Do not order this. Chicken cordon bleu.... Horrible presentation. It was a full chicken breast wrapped around some Smokey ham, deep fried and then placed on a cheese sauce. They should serve half the amount, sliced and presented well and it would have been a hit. Too expensive for a chicken dish Bucatini w/ added shrimp...good dish, would get this again. We had reservations on the 3rd night after opening. Super cute inside. We had the oyster which were delicious. Had to ask for bread. I had the manicotti which was SUPER spicy. I was baffled it was so spicy as manicotti usually isn't spicy. I thought maybe it was just me but they leftovers were just as spicy. Maybe other batches of red sauce won't be as spicy. My husband had the walleye and really enjoyed it. For dessert, I highly recommend the carrot cake. Delicious! read more
