So when it came to hosting a birthday party, I knew exactly who to call. I used them for an event this past weekend, and they did not disappoint. They were simply amazing! First, Vickie is wonderful, and was in constant contact from the time I decided to use them for my event. Her responses were very timely and friendly, and she even let me tweak the menu a bit to suit my needs. Whatever you want, she'll make it happen. On the day of the event, Vickie and her husband showed up on time, were very friendly, set up quickly, and started cooking right away! The food display was perfect with her added touch of a happy birthday sign. Vickie even offered to help me set up a display of 60 cupcakes. Everything went seamlessly, which took the stress off me and put my mind at ease. Now, the best part, sorry Vickie, I love you, but... the food was outstanding! I decided to serve only chicken and carne asada and both were so juicy, and flavorful and stayed hot all night. The tortillas were cooked perfectly, and the little cheese quesadillas were a huge hit, especially with the kids. All the sides and condiments were perfect as well. At the end of the night, there was hardly any food left and that's because guests were going back for seconds and thirds. We hired this company to cater our wedding. I was nervous because I worry about everything but let me tell you, no need to worry here. Vickie is wonderful. The food was wonderful, hot and fresh and all my guests left full and happy.we even had some lighting issues where everything was in the dark outside for a while and this business kept on trucking making the food by phone flashlight!!! My company wanted to organize a special lunch to celebrate some office renovations and we had the idea of getting a taco caterer to come grill on-site. Since we have an outdoors patio, we thought it would be cool to have the caterer set up there. I did some research online a few weeks back and the good people of Yelp brought me over to this page! :) I went on the website and submitted a request for a quote. I wasn't sure which package would be best for us, so I asked for a full breakdown of each of the options. I also wasn't sure how many tacos per person should be budgeted. Vickie from The Original Taco Man gave me a call personally within a couple of hours and walked me through what they offer. A few hours later, she sent over an estimate with a list of what would be included. There are 2 meats, 3 meats, and a shrimp package. Guac/sour cream are additional. For the vegans/vegetarians, there is also a tofu and grilled/seasoned veggies platter you can order -- funny enough, a lot of our staff opted for this option in addition to the meat! They also threw in a complimentary nacho bar and garden salad. Vickie was very patient with me, especially when I had lots of questions about tweaking the order. There was a lot of back and forth about payment, guac and arrival time -- this was my first taco lunch experience and I certainly had plenty of questions. In total -- we got the 2 meats package that comes with carne asada, pollo, rice, beans, deluxe condiments package, red salsa, green salsa, tortillas, utensils/plates, warm mixture of cheese, garden salad with dressings, and churros. TIP: Have them cut the churros in half! They are huge and warm and scrumptious. On the day of, the staff arrived promptly and got to work. They brought all the necessary supplies and didn't complain about having to set up in the heat outdoors (Sorry, guys!). The smell was amazing and our staff could barely wait til noon to get started. Everyone loved the food, went for seconds, and there were still plenty left over for them to take home. All in all, an amazing experience. PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!!! First off, anyone else find it ironic that most of the good reviews came on the same day? And 2 of them are from people in Arizona, yet they only work in California??? My wife and I scheduled them almost 9 months in advance for DJ, and catering for our wedding. Prices seemed fair, but the problem was everything else. 1. We ordered food for 120 people, and only had 110. They ran out of cheese at the 40th person, and the salad dressing was already gone before then. 2. They didn't clean up after themselves. On my wedding day, my best man, and I had to leave the dance floor and scrap all the food off the dishes and throw them away, even though it clearly states in our contract that they will do it. 3. The 2 kids they sent to cater were nice, but probably only 18-19 years old. They needed to have someone more professional look over them to make sure everything was going right. 4. My aunt was around the 70th person in line and said they ran out of napkins. 5. They deny to take any responsibility, of wrong doing. 6. They say gratuity is appreciated, but add it into my bill. I was surprised to see an addition $330+ added for gratuity knowing we had problems. 7. The meat didn't seem good quality, and the quesadillas were gross. These people seemed very nice up until the wedding and then it went to hell. Save yourself a headache, they don't know how to do business!!!! read more

They're fantastic! I threw a party for my husband with 100 guests in our backyard. When you're going to that level you need a lot of input and help. Vicki was such a breeze to work with and so nice. She assisted me with menu planning and offering other services. She started off by serving fresh quesadillas which were served on a tray that she walked through and offered to our guests. She and her crew created a bountiful buffet that included chicken, Carne Asada, tortillas,salad, rice, beans and a NICE array of different items to add to your tacos, chips and two types of salsa. Everything was fresh and delicious. Everyone raved about the food. They also raved about the awesome service that she and her crew provided. Vicki kept the party flowing and made sure that the bartenders had clean glassware, ice and anything that they needed. We had a family graduation party last weekend with approximately 50 people. Zach and another woman came in a van and set up a cooking/serving table in the back yard. We had three choices of meat: chicken, pork, and steak. I found the pork to be a little too salty for my likings, but it was still edible. IT was an assembly type deal to get the food and it worked out well. You could have salad, beans, and rice if you liked. And the red salsa was damn good! Overall, they are nice and professional.
