Loved it. It's been 12 years since I've been back to Willie's. I had the same thing tonight as I did back then - Stuffed Baked Potato with Brisket. You queue up in the ordering line as you walk in. There were about a dozen people ahead of us so it gave us time to study the menu. Maybe 10 minutes at most. When arrive at the cashier, you place your order and pay. You're given your receipt and the cashier adds a hand-written order number on it. We grabbed a 6-top table for our party and waited for our order number to be called out. Took 10 minutes at most. We helped ourselves to silverware and extra BBQ sauce while we waited for our food. Our potato was piping hot. The potato is opened up and fluffed a bit. They add butter to one side and sour cream to the other side. They add bacon bits or similar, then pile on whatever meat you may have ordered. It ends up being huge! My wife and I split one. They're open from 11 am to 6 pm. We arrived at 4:30 and they were out of a number of things (ribs and some sides). Get there earlier in the day if you want maximum selection. We ordered the moist brisket & jalapeño sausage and Pork ribs. The sides we had were Mac & cheese, corn, potato salad, rice & beans. The brisket.....out of this world! SO good, and tender. Okay, so after the disappointing food I received when I used their drive-through for the first and last time I decided I'd dine in this time. Obviously a big mistake on my part. Everything was going well. I ordered what I usually do which is the baked potato with everything on it. I also bought a 16.9 oz. bottle of Dr Pepper. I received my order and was very pleased with its appearance. I mixed up my baked potato with the topping's and added some of their barbecue sauce. I was halfway through eating my baked potato and had drank about a quarter of the of Dr Pepper when I decided to get some chopped brisket to go. I left my food and drink at my table and went over to the front counter and place my order. After paying I turned around and headed back towards my table only to find that it was completely cleared off. One of their staff had cleaned off my table throwing away my food and my drink. It took another customer who speaks Spanish to explain to the worker that he had just thrown away my supper and that I wasn't finished eating it. The guy turns to me, says something in Spanish and shrugged his shoulders like, "oh well, too bad" in response. I went up to the counter, asked if someone knew how to speak English and explain to that man what the employee had done with my supper. The guy turns to another guy, talks to him in Spanish and turns and looks at me and says grab another bottle of pop. I spent $12 and walked away with only eating HALF of my meal and what was their resolution? Giving me a new bottle of pop. I also spent $10 for 1/2 pound of brisket to go. So for $22 dollars I got 1 and 1/4 bottles of pop, 1/2 pound of brisket (to go) and HALF of a baked potato meal. So my advice is, if you choose to go here and you are single, eating alone and you decide to get up from your table to go order a piece of pie or more food to go, don't be surprised if they throw away your meal while you are at their counter. Very, VERY disappointed and upset about this. I am seriously considering never coming back here, even tho I like their food. I don't like to give bad reviews especially for non-chain businesses but I have to say something about this one. First, I got the 2 meat combo with pulled pork and wet brisket. For my sides I got a double order of onion rings and Mac & cheese. The onion rings were straight from a bag; nothing great but nothing really bad. The Mac & cheese... the cheese sauce was flavorless and appeared to come from a can. I took 3 bites and said that I didn't want to do that to my body. Now to the meats. The brisket was ok but not what I have come to know what Texas Brisket usually is. It was moist and tender but didn't have much taste and the actual cuts were rather small. The "pulled"pork was actually chopped and as for taste... it was burnt, literally! And it tasted like it was seasoned with the ashes from the pit itself. There was no amount of BBQ sauce that could be applied that could cover that taste up. Overall the food was a complete disappointment. The service was fine and the atmosphere/ ambiance was fine but as a seasoned traveler; I wont be back. read more

Love the bbq here! Wish it were open later but a great lunch place. Great brisket & sausage & pulled pork and ribs of course. I don't like their fries, too limp. Other sides are good. Wish they had fountain drinks. Cokes come in bottles. They have deserts but I've never tried them. Sauce is good, not to sweet or vinegary. Just right for my taste. I ordered 1 meat 3 sides. Asked for the moist brisket. It wasn't moist but it was a good clean cut. The sides were outta this world. I haven't been able to find good carrot salad ever since CFA retired theirs. The coleslaw was also good but you just like raisins because they throw some in there and you can't go wrong with the rice and beans mix! I've been here a few times. My parents and I ordered the Botana for 2 family package (5 meats, rice, beans, potato salad, pico de gallo, tortillas or bread, pickles and onions). With 3 drinks (not included in the package), it came out to $50. It was a whole lot of food though, so we ended up taking some of it home. And we all loved everything. They give you the BBQ sauce in a separate container, which was great cause my mom loves it but my dad and I eat our meats dry. I've also tried their stuffed potato. This might be the best place to get BBq in the whole valley. But you will pay for it. Other than the price being high. Willie B's BBQ in Alamo is very great. They serve Fajitas and Beef Ribs which some places don't have. the chicken portions are a little small. But the other cuts of meat are very good. All their sides are amazing. They are made from scratch, nothing from a can, even the Mac & Cheese is not the small kind. They are missing a wow factor, they do make good traditional bbq with a little south texas Tex-Mex twist. Both were so dry that a dousing of their translucent, sticky sweet BBQ sauce didn't stop it from continuously sticking to my throat. A feeling so unbearable, I couldn't force it down. My mama raised me not to waste food and I've been known to finish my plate despite an undesirable meal. My mama would have agreed on leaving behind this $13.00 plate. I ate pickles. Which were ruined with stowaway molasses? My guess is it rubbed shoulders with something in the cafeteria line? I arrived at 11:45. It shouldn't have been a case of it sitting too long if I had arrived 2-5pm (which still shouldn't be an excuse for jerky-like BBQ). Looking around, most people had the baked potato, chopped sandwich and nice big helpings of sides. Maybe, their forte is not in BBQ but in BBQ friendly accoutrements? My advice? Keep going North on 281 to Nolana- Rudy's. Yes, it's a chain, but with good service and moist BBQ there's a reason they're good enough to be a chain. Over all it was close to decent. My wife and I didnt really like the meat but their sides, sweet tea and lemonade we're good. My wife got the lean brisket and it was dry and hard, kinda had a taste of beans. Didn't have flavor had to drench it in their BBQ sauce just to get a little moist and have some flavor. I had the "moist" brisket and it was dry and flavorless as well. Their pulled pork was decent but bland. To be honest I prefer Rudy's BBQ even though it is a franchise it has alot more flavor compared to what we had here. Let them know about it on their instagram and they kept erasing my comment without trying to ask what was wrong and how they can fix it. Workers looked like they didn't even want to be there. Better than Salt Lick. Yes, I said it. Their beans are fresh and so is everything else. They've copied the Norteño style of putting meat on a papa asada. That's Spanish for a baked potato. The brisket has a nice smoke ring. Like Beyonce sings, "if you like it then you should put a ring on it." That could apply to this. Unlike a lot of imposter BBQ joints that have questionable practices in which there's no smoke in the air or no smoke ring to be found, this place delivers. The atmosphere is rustic. You eat on butcher paper. It epitomizes a real BBQ experience and it beats about any joint in Central Texas. The only problem is it's way the heck down in South Texas.
