I love this bar. It's 5 minutes from my apartment, the ambience is low-key and fun, and on Tuesdays you can get an awesome craft beer draft for the same price as a PBR. Nice dive bar close to the Logan blue line. When everything starts closing in the area the Owl is the perfect place to end your night.

Another great Chicago dark bar with unique looking people way different than holedrum suburbanites. This bar had some pricey beer and I got stuck with a twelve dollar glass. I figure if broads can spill twenty bucks for wine I can do the same for the real bar drink. This place had a cool little waterfall behind the bar and just a cool look. This is a great no BS neighborhood bar with decent beer, dark atmosphere and good vibes on the juke box. Most of the working staff and people hanging out there are remarkably not hipsters as some of the reviews here state but actually musicians. There is a big difference! If you like your top 40 ,fist pumping or you pop your collar then you might want to go somewhere else. The place gets busy late night...so that being known don't think there won't be a line if its 1am on a friday or saturday night when other bars start to close up for 2am. For a Wednesday night, the bar was decently busy. The lighting is dim, and the sound of the water trickling down the fountain in the middle of the bar is extremely soothing. We just had a fabulous Birthday Party in the back room at The Owl on Friday night! Great fun! Great service. So accomodating to our set up, music and all requests. Great drinks and allowed us to bring in catered food too with on additional fee or service charge. Reasonable prices per person for party and for drinks overall. Fun, friendly staff and great place for a fun bash! We had back room private 8-10 and recoommend it as cool venue for private party. Did I mention the drinks are fab! Check it out! I've ended up at the owl late night after the other bars have closed many times. it gets crazy as hell with the random mix of people coming from all of the other closed bars. I couldn't give you an accurate review of the drinks bc I'm so trashed by the time I get there everything tastes good to me. MUSIC: the djs know what's up! the dancefloor don't lie. when I told someone I was going for New Years, they were like "the owl for new years???" sure glad I went. would love a recording of the djs mix! COMPLAINTS: the bathroom sucks! so small, 1 stall and 2 urinals for an influx of drunk mfs that don't understand etiquette. 2. would love some more speakers with loud subwoofers to compliment the jams! PS whoever is reviewing the jukebox is not the sort of person who should be at the owl after 2am. read more

They have a sweet waterfall in the bar. $3 high life drafts, a nice relief from pbr and old style. They have a dance floor and what looks like a stage. It was cluttered with furniture, but perhaps they will host shows in the future. A good sized place. Seems promising, only time will tell... read more

I ended up here on a random Monday night and loved it. I'm sure I didn't experience all that this place has to offer but there was enough eye catching fabulousness that I was fully entertained. First off, it's dark as a mo-fo. Once your eye's adjust, you'll notice all kinds of crazy owls around the joint. I will return, if for no other reason, to bring one of my Grandma Lindsey's coveted (and slightly creepy) owl candles for their display. Next you might notice the waterfall behind the bar. This place was def some type of Latin dance club once upon a time. We stayed up front at the bar but there was something cheesy going on in the back (that I hope to experience one day). The bathroom stall was pretty and very clean...with some interesting wall graffiti that is now posted on Instagram. The only problem is that they didn't have some extra cheap special. But it's overall random divey-ness made me very happy. read more

When you walk in, you are greeted by a guy with an epic beard resembling Hagrid from the Potter series. However after that The service here is awful. The bar wasn't even full, they had 3 bartenders that have tunnel vision which took one of them 6mins to approach me. They walk around with their heads down collecting glassware and not paying attention to patrons looking to buy a drink. There was about 30 people scattered between the bar and the tables upfront, with 4-5 people looking to buy drinks at the bar. A few people right next to us left the bar stools so we sat in them. They left a quarter for a tip under the menu. After I finally got my drink I left him $1. Then as he was picking up the menus he grabbed the quarter and asked me if that is what I tipped him. Rude. I shouldn't have tipped him shit because it took him 6 mins to ask me what I'd like to drink with a bar that wasn't even full. I applaud the people before me, he didn't deserve that quarter or my dollar. Your service sucks. Serve the people first then when u have extra time clean your glassware read more

When I stepped in I felt like I had just walked into a Frankenstein bar. There seemed to be bits and pieces of other bars strewn about. The waterfall and surrounding flora were clearly taken from a tiki bar. The couches in the back reminiscent of a wine bar, and the bar stools looked straight out of a dive bar. I don't know where the Owl is pulling its clientele from lately but there's been a shift away from locals, so it feels like it exists in its own weird vortex rather than Logan Square. It's a great 4am bar in Logan Square and since I tend to work late sometimes I like how I can always have this as an option. The beer selection is amazing and they have pretty decent prices. everyone knows the owl is where you go if you can't get into the whistler. sorry but that's the truth. and I still waited in line for the owl! like a loser! anyway, I loved the decor. the crowd was manageable but it was REALLY loud. it was also sort of a disconnected group. i did not get the feeling people were really there to socialize in a bar atmosphere, just that they were small groups who wanted to get out and needed somewhere to land. no one was talking to strangers or doing anything spontaneous or actually fun. it more had the ostenses of fun. My buddy Mark lives in Logan Square and he told me about the $2 and $3 Tuesday night beer special. Logan Square is kind of difficult for me to get there since I don't have a car. I decided the beer special was worth me taking two busses to get to Logan Square. Mark and I went there a couple of weeks before Christmas. Once we got there and saw the beer specials list I became a happy camper. It's hard to find a $4 beer special let alone a more inexpensive special. There were many great beers on the list. I was expecting Miller Lite or worse Pabst Blue Ribbon. I wanted to try them all but settled for a vanilla porter. It was great and now it's my go to beer when I go to the Owl. I was a nice mix of crowd and not only the hipster crowd that you would expect in Logan Square. The only downfall is that the service was a little slow but that's to be expected with such a great beer special. I will definitely go back to the Owl for that great beer special. Recently I found out that another good buddy of mine lives in Logan Square and I am trying to get him to go there with me. read more

i love the owl. The bar staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. i would have given them five stars, but every time i bump into a certain bouncer (5'10", brown eyes, brown hair, asshole) i seem to have a problem. i sincerely hope his second testicle descends. i love this bar when i do not have to deal with this guy, god's solution to bouncing a bar. i hope his penis pills work well. if not for him, it is worth five stars, for great beer, a diverse crowd, and a great jukebox. please fire this guy, and you get five stars from me. love the owl! read more

Received the worst service I've had at a bar in Chicago. We waited for at least 10 mins to get served, which was expected as it was busy, no biggie, we were having a good night. When my friend tried to order a crown and coke the barman told him there was no Crown (kind of odd as it's such a common drink but meh) but instead of offering alternatives, asking if he wanted something else, or even waiting long enough for him to order something else, he walked off and started serving other people. After waiting nearly 10mins in the first place, it was outright rude. He continued to ignore us as we sat there for at least 5 mins more. We went to the other end of the bar to order instead, and ended up getting so much attitude from the waitress for no reason. Not going back - put a downer on a really good night. Next time I'll just go next door to Analog where the drinks, atmosphere, and service ROCK the ass off The Owl. read more
