Was expecting Oyster Bar to be similar to the other branches at Las Vegas and etc... apparently they are just loosely related with their menus but the exact recipes are kind of different. We absolutely loved the pan roast at the Palace Station since it was so creamy... but the version here felt more watery. We would probably skip it next time. Wow this location was great and is located inside the golden nugget hotel. It was clean, bright and nice looking. We got lucky and didn't have to wait which was nice but did start getting busy after we sat down. The oyster were good, fresh and a fairly good size but not too big cause I don't like when they are too big lol the clam chowder was good, good consistency of thickness and had a good amount of clams inside. This is my favorite stop when I'm in Tahoe! I can never get enough of their pan roast. I've waited to write a review since I first tried them eight years ago. There's nothing more annoying than giving a place five stars and you have less than stellar experience thereafter. This spot is so cute and the food is sooo good. Some things to mention. It's truly a bar. There are no tables just bar seating. It's in the middle of the Golden Nugget casino. Last weekend we went to Tahoe for skiing and stayed at the Golden Nugget. On the casino floor there's a voted best seafood restaurant in Tahoe, so we went down to try it out. It's actually a bar where you sit on the bar LOL. No table seating. The bar is extremely clean and the servers are extremely pleasant and attentive. My son was craving for New England Clam Chowder and it's so good that he finished it in a heart beat. He also wanted to try the Jambalaya dish that he used to have a long time ago in the long gone Elephant Bar many years ago. I also wanted to try the Jambalaya. They cooked the food right in front of us which is quite an eye feast and a nice experience. Very different from other restaurants. The Jambalaya is very delicious and full flavor with plenty of shrimps, chicken and sausages, although it's not too spicy as some other places. My wife wanted to try the Bouillabaisse (french seafood stew) because it looked so good. There are all types of seafood in it, and the soup was so tasty, she loved it. Especially with the hot sourdough rolls to dip in the soup as a meal in itself. The price is amazingly affordable, the stew even has a lobster tail, plenty of crab legs, clams, mussels and fishes. The amber draft beer was great, we had a taste of both dark beer, we ended up with one and a bottle of Sapporo beer. They both went great with our foods. My daughter was busy with her homework so we got the clams chowder to go and some sourdough rolls and she loved them. It's nice to try something different and it came out great. My husband and I decided on a spontaneous trip to Lake Tahoe for the Labor Day weekend. With most hotels fully booked, we ended up staying at the Golden Nugget for the first time. While our room was lovely, this review is about a restaurant located within the Golden Nugget. During our walks, we kept noticing The Oyster Bar, which always had a long line of people waiting. I initially thought it was just for oyster lovers, but my husband pointed out that they offer much more than just oysters. I'm so glad I listened to him! On our last day in Lake Tahoe, I suggested to my husband and the other couples that we try The Oyster Bar before leaving. I went down about 15 minutes before they opened to secure a spot, as the bar is quite small, seating only about 10-12 people. They also cook your food right in front of you! Our entire party was thrilled with both the food and the service. We were truly blown away! The menu is packed with a variety of seafood options. We'll definitely be back soon! Please note that The Oyster Bar will be temporarily closing due to renovations, as the hotel is currently undergoing updates. We can't wait to return once it reopens! read more

One of my favorite seafood soup restaurants. Go for their House Pan Roast is you like it creamy or the Bouillabaisse if more soupy. They absolutely give you a good amount of seafood in your bowl. Located inside the Golden Nugget Casino, there is parking that you can get validated. The restaurant is essentially a bar with limited seating. If you have the option, I recommend sitting on the right side of the long counter because you can watch them cook the seafood boils there. There's always a line for this place and the reviews had us needing to try it out! There's maybe 15-20 seats around the bar area. It gets tricky when there's groups that want to sit together. Enough people have to clear the area before those people can get seated. It seems like even when people clear out, the seating is done in waves. We came at 12pm on a Sunday NYE and waited about an hour. Service was great, food was excellent. I appreciate that they had a large house salad that was very enjoyable for my vegetarian self. Great! I thought, since I like the smaller sized oysters (ie kumamotos). What an overstatement! These were the size of a dime with nothing to them! At over $3/ea, it was a total rip. Props for having a ton of condiments though. 2/5 - New England Clam chowder ($9): HOLY THICKNESS! Someone was heavy handed on the flour, potatoes or both. Nice amount of clams and a good sized portion. 3/5 - Bouillabaise ($35): WTH? The broth was sweet?!? Did the chef mistake salt for sugar? This was really strange and off putting. The seafood was cooked pretty well though. 2/5 This is a small seafood joint with bar seating only (probably around 14 seats) located in the Hard Rock hotel. Service was nothing to write home about.
