We are a sucker for oyster bars wherever we go. Nothing beats Palace Station in Vegas but if you're in Lake Tahoe, this place does the trick to satisfy your craving. It's inside Golden Nugget. I'm rating 3.5 round to 4 stars. This bar seats about 14. We had a party of 5 and had a section to ourselves at the end. We got the House Roast Pan Roast and New England Clam Chowder. I was surprised they brought out the Pan Roast first. Right before we finished, we asked if the chowder was still coming out. I think they forgot. We also had to ask for crackers. The soup was thick with lots of clams. The pan roast was decent. It was thick and creamy with bits of crab, tons of shrimp, lobster, seafood. It came with a side of rice. The oysters were good. Forgot to ask where from. We had some Bloody Mary oyster shooters and a glass of MIO sparkling sake. That was refreshing, sweet just like moscato. You start out with two rolls of bread and can always ask for more which we did to dip with the chowder and pan roast.

Per annual tradition, my group's last dinner is at the Oyster Bar. Usually, I order the House Pan Roast (Creamy Tomato Seafood Stew), but I was hankering for oysters. Although Fried Oysters are not on the menu, I asked just to be sure and the staff confirmed that the Oyster Bar does not serve Fried Oysters. For the next best thing, I ordered a half dozen of fresh oysters (Stellar Bay from British Columbia) served with cocktail sauce with horseradish, a red wine mignonette and a white wine mignonette. The oysters were deliciously fresh and creamy. Additionally, I ordered the spicy Manhattan Clam Chowder. To be fair, I was warned that the soup was spicy and I am here to confirm, it's a medium spice level. Filled with potatoes and tomatoes, there's some clams in the chowder. With the restaurant located inside the Golden Nugget Casino, there's a lot of noise and cigarette smoke. At 6pm on a weeknight, there was about a 15 minute wait to be seated.

For our first night in South Lake Tahoe we my husband decided to eat here and I was skeptical. Well let me tell you that I was glad he made that choice! The clam chowder was delicious and flavorful and it comes with these little cute crackers. I had the shrimp linguine and the cheese they placed on top was phenomenal. My husband had the BOUILLABAISSE it had Shrimp, Lobster, Crab Legs, Clams, Mussels, Cod and he said it was great and I tried it as well and he was right! It's a small bar but it's worth the wait. Our waiter Kyle was amazing and took very good care of us. You honestly can't go wrong by eating at this restaurant!

Located inside the Golden Nugget Casino. The seafood bouillabaisse and fresh oysters were excellent. The service was very friendly and attentive. Small and limited bar seating only.

Confused on reviews mentioning the Palace Station Oyster. This does not do the trick or even comes anywhere close. We ordered the Lobster Pan Roast and it came in half the portion sized bowl compared to Palace Station but for the same price. Flavor was extremely off. Just tastes like tangy tomato? No hot sauce could save it. Clam Chowder was good but very thick and lacked clams. Oysters were fresh. Steamed Mussels were tasty. Definitely not a place I would ever wait in line for having experience delicious pan roast back in Los Angeles and Vegas.

This was our first visit to this fine establishment... I wish we had discovered it on our previous visit because it is so spectacular we have been two nights in a row and I can't tell you that NEVER has happened before. We had some of the most delicious sourdough bread to start and that's not saying less because my husband is a pastry chef and he makes it on the daily. So for our first visit we had Caesar salad, Gumbo, and Linguine and Clams everything was delicious! So much so my hubby persuaded me to return tonight for night two because he just had to have more.... So he had the try out the Jambalaya and me the New England chowder... as usual everything's spectacular. I know you want me to write about the SERVICE, I mean chef Kyle and his crew are on top of everything number one! Ambience of course spectacular. Please do not come here because then I have to wait in a longer line ;)

Overall loved the food and the price was fair for everything, if you're looking for Cajun spice we don't really get that from our seafood boils and expect that the "sauce" you'd usually get from a boil is not what you get here - it's much more of a beer boil seasoning reminiscent of a seafood soup dish going on here but it's delicious and you get plenty of seafood with whatever you choose. Overall would recommend if you're craving seafood in the area, but I wouldn't go for just the seafood boil.

Absolutely incredible oyster bar experience in Lake Tahoe. Everything was unbelievably fresh and full of flavor. We started with oysters on the half shell and they were briny, sweet, and ice-cold -- exactly how they should be. The sauces and lemon wedges were a perfect touch without overpowering the natural flavor. The seafood stew/cioppino was the star of the show. Loaded with crab, lobster, shrimp and clams in a rich, savory broth that you'll want to soak up with bread. The clam bowl was also fantastic -- tender, perfectly cooked clams in a flavorful, garlicky broth with just the right amount of heat.. Ambiance was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive, and you can really tell they care about quality. Portions were generous and totally worth it. If you're a seafood lover visiting Tahoe, this place is a must-stop. I'd come back in a heartbeat!

It's hard to come close to The Oyster Bar at Palace Station in Vegas, but The Oyster Bar at the Golden Nugget will certainly do the trick. You definitely won't be waiting hours to get a seat, which to me is a plus. The staff were really friendly and the food came out timely. We had the caesar salad, house special pan roast, and cioppino. All taste great and would recommend these to folks looking for something tasty!! My only wish is that the restrooms were closer! lol, you gotta walk a little far before you get to one.

During our recent visit to Tahoe, we were out exploring and happened to come up upon this place. I saw that it was voted best seafood in Tahoe and I can see why. Service was good . Lady making the dishes was as well. And the Caesar salad was fresh and had lots of parmesan. But the star of the meal was the Bouillabaisse. It was absolutely delicious. Fresh and full of a generous seafood. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

Came on a Saturday evening and there was a bit of a wait but wasn't too bad. This is my second time back since being back in Lake Tahoe since I am from the Bay Area and come up to snowboard. The gumbo is amazing and keeps me coming back! The service is also quick, friendly, and very attentive. I get it with crab and add the rice in together. Will definitely be a must routine when in town.

A must try for all seafood lovers! Service is super welcoming and helpful in addressing all our questions as first timers. Nice bar set up where we could see the food being prepared. We ordered the clam chowder, steamed clams, house pan roast, and seafood boil. All tasted amazing! If I had to change one thing, Id make the clam chowder slightly less thick as it wasnt really soup texture, but more porridge-like. I definitely plan on coming back here anytime Im in the area. Tip: Get in line before 6pm to avoid a super long wait time.

Amazing! We had it for dinner and went back the next day for lunch. The bouillabase (sp?) was awesome; the seafood boil was second best; and the shrimp/clams pasta was good. The server and cook were super nice. We will be back.

Good service, but the oysters will reflect what you'd expect of an inland seafood place.

    No. First come first serve

    Are there children allowed?

Yes, kids can dine at They Oyster Bar as long as you're comfortable with them sitting in a "high" bar chair.

Do you have tables? Or is it just seating at the bar?

Bar only and there is only maybe space for 20 so in peak time the wait can be long but for sure worth it . Great food and service . This place is the best at the hard rock hotel

    Do they have reservation options?

no, it's first come, first serve. 4-4;30 thr lines are better

Do they do take out currently?

Yes, but a very limited menu like 4 or 5 items only.

Looks like reservations were taken off of OpenTable, is it by first come first basis now?

Hi Jack! That is correct, Oyster Bar has returned to serving our guests on a first come first serve basis.

How do you take out food if there is no direct phone # to reach them? The listed # goes to general hotel front desk and they're not helpful - they say there's no direct extension to the restaurant.

As of May 2022, the only item available for take out is clam chowder.

How big is the bar? Can it fit a party of 8? What would the wait time be?

It's a literal bar that sits 20 people, like breakfast bar inside a house with high stools. It is rectangular shape with one long side being back wall where employees come in and out, cooks and servers assist you from inside the rectangle.…

There was definitely a hint of "tourist trap" happening here, but honestly, that's not the restaurant's fault. Some people just hate to venture too far from their comfort zone! One of the main courses we ordered was the sea bass, and it was perfectly prepared--well-cooked, flavorful, and a definite standout. If you're looking for a high-quality, well-prepared meal paired with experienced, attentive servers, you really can't go wrong here. Sometimes the best meals are hiding in plain sight. BB

I took photos of the bowl as it was served, including close-up photos, and I'm including them with this review. To their credit, the staff tried to make up for it by giving us a complimentary slice of guava cheesecake. The cheesecake was good, although the guava part was basically an orange-colored syrup. I appreciate that they acknowledged the problem and made an effort to address it, but finding a hair in food is still difficult to overlook. As for the rest of the meal, the $38 Sampler was easily the best thing we ordered. It came with 4 baby back ribs, 2 crab cakes, and 4 jumbo shrimp. Everything on that plate was good. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was mediocre. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing special either. The fried calamari was also lacking in volume. The sampler was good, but unfortunately, finding a hair in the poke bowl overshadowed the meal.
