Chicken fried steak with eggs and potatoes

Saltgrass in Tahoe is a welcome addition to the area, replacing a rather uninspiring pub/restaurant that used to occupy the space. If you're looking for a light breakfast, you might want to look elsewhere, as the serving sizes here are massive. Their breakfast and brunch are exactly what you need after a night in Tahoe, regardless of how your night went. The comforting selection of breakfast and brunch items here will surely fix you up. However, I have a suggestion: please hire more servers! I've only seen one or two servers the two times I've visited, and they're working hard to take care of all the diners. It would be great if they had a little extra help. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Tahoe, whether I'm up or down.

Fantastic restaurant. This was my second time and the food was very good. I'll return again in the future. Nice atmosphere and service.

Stateline NV Tahoe decades ago was the coolest of the cool. Where Elvis and the Rat Pack would play. Liberace. John Denver and all. Suits. Ties. Maître d's. Powerful families owned these casino hotels and were sticklers on quality. This restaurant is at least a decent call amidst the overhyped often sad corporate homogenized Stateline bait and switch spots. Serious money is being poured past years into this long ago Sahara Tahoe location. This 'steak place is worth the money, and is a cool mid-range spot with some good old school service from locals that remember the fun of '70s '80s Stateline.

Group of colleagues and I were craving a good steak after a long night in Tahoe. Stumbled upon this place and I'm glad I did. The service was excellent and took care of me and my colleagues. I ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked very well. Probably one of the best steaks I've had in awhile. I definitely will be back when I'm back in Tahoe for the weekend. I give this restaurant an easy 5/5 stars review. The steak was phenomenal. The bread they serve as an appetizer was also very delicious, especially when you put the butter they had. Chefs kiss.

Saltgrass Steakhouse is located in the Nugget Casino in Lake Tahoe. The setting is very nice and casual, but the food is high quality as are their prices. We started with the fried mushrooms, which was very good with a thick breading that had a spicy kick. Most of the group decided on burgers, and I decided on the filet Oscar's with baked potato on fried asparagus. The filet was good, but was cooked medium well instead of medium, so it was a bit dry. The Crab Oscar was more like a shredded crab salad so it didn't compliment the filet to me. The fried asparagus was really good, with a thick batter, that I probably would've enjoyed as an appetizer and preferred it grilled with the filet. My granddaughter was treated to a chocolate cake birthday dessert and it was so rich and delicious. Our server, Senia was wonderful, and attended to us so efficiently, and was very nice. We parked in the Nugget parking lot, which can be pricey, but the restaurant validates, so it's free when dining. Just remember to bring your ticket in for validation.

Center cut filet and baked potato. The potato was awesome, the filet mediocre. For the price I paid, definitely not worth it.

This steakhouse is conveniently located amongst the casinos in South Lake Tahoe, and is inside the Golden Nugget. I tried it twice, but I have been far from impressed. I wonder to myself how a steakhouse can serve non steakhouse quality. I ordered the center cut filet which is always tender. Mine was not such. I didn't complain but I probably should have. So, I gave them a try the next day and ordered the avocado toast, this is when I knew that they have no clue. Staff are nice but not too attentive. Place is clean, but when I spend the $$$ I expect good food. The food here does not live up to what anyone going to a steakhouse would expect.

For dinner, we dined here since it's convenient and just in the hotel. I opted for the salmon oscar so i could share it with my toddler. It's lump crab meat with fried asparagus. We both enjoyed it. I also tried my husband's Pat's ribeye and it was really good. Our server, Zack was amazing. He kept checking in on us and made sure we were well taken care of. As for the ambiance, it was slightly dark inside so it gives off a cozy vibe. Although, we were seated near the kitchen and there was an exit door near us so it kinda kills the mood specially with how busy our table location was with all the people passing by.

This is inside the golden nugget hotel so we stopped here for dinner after a long day of skiing. The service was great, but the food was very salty. The portions were also huge so I couldn't finish haha. That salmon filet has gotta be the largest I've ever eaten. The fried asparagus was also very crispy and the perfect pairing with the fatty salmon. I also had their complimentary bread which was very delicious with the whipped butter. Their Paloma was also quite good although more on the bitter side of things. I tried the grand sangria and it was much sweeter and tastier. The prices were pretty high. The entrees all cost like 40-60 dollars. Our dinner at Riva Grill later cost about the same but the portion sizes were even larger.

    Rattlers were delish!

This wasn't our first visit--we've been here several times, but it had been a while since our last visit. We enjoyed it so much that we came back for lunch one day and dinner the next! The highlight of our dinner was our server, Ryan. He was friendly, attentive, and made the evening even more enjoyable. I ordered the Salmon Caesar salad both times because I loved it that much. My husband ordered the ribeye on both visits, and it was cooked perfectly each time. The rest of our family enjoyed the Salmon Oscar, and everyone agreed it was well worth the price. The kids' menu was also a great value. We skipped the appetizers since the portions are so generous, and we always end up full! One thing we did notice is that the bread they serve now is much better quality than we remembered from our last visit. We'll definitely be back the next time we're craving a great steak. Highly recommend!

Popped in for a quick drink. A little disappointed that the old fashion didn't have a large ice cube. But it was good. Nice seating at the bar or tables. Worth sitting outside if weather permits!

if you're looking for steak, look no further! Saltgrass has a large menu and also serves breakfast! we came for dinner, and seated promptly. They started off with some complimentary bread for the table, which is always appreciated by us two. My gf and I were so happy to see the fried pickles on the menu,so we got them and they were fantastic. We ordered a ribeye steak to share and it came out to a perfect medium! With the price of beef going up, it's understandable why it was a little pricey. Definitely something I would order, once in a while. Other than that, the service was amazing and we would come back just for those fried pickles (the ranch was also nice, but on the watery side). The decor in the restaurant was also on par with the theme (western and historic) .

We were there on Saturday with they had special - prime rib. I ordered prime rib with mush potatoes on the side. We also got sauced mushrooms for the table it was delicious. Service was great. Luis did amazing job. He did above and beyond. Ambience is special. Worth trying

Don't waste your time going to the more expensive steak houses in South Lake! Boyfriend and I came here twice in one weekend during our trip. It's great!!!! They start you out with a roll of bread. We got the loaded fries to start, and the baked potato soup. The soup was delicious! For entrees, we got a Texas T-bone and a bone in ribeye. We also got a side of loaded mashed potatoes. They had cheese, sour cream, and bacon bits. Also ordered a side of broccoli. The steaks were topped with garlic butter. I wish the loaded potatoes were a bit hotter and my steak was medium rare (I asked for medium, better under cooked than over cooked!). Minor complaints. The second time we came back we decided to get a country fried steak. Might be better than the Texas T bone, for me! Our service was great. Recommended a good red wine for me. Also gave us an extra bowl of soup for free. The ambiance feels like you're in a midwestern country steakhouse.

Ambience is very old school steakhouse. Big booth, pillows, kind of classic and comfortable in that traditional way. Food was... meh. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The steak itself was fine, but the bacon wrap was not good and kind of threw the dish off. Escargot was interesting, honestly the best part was the pastry on top more than the escargot itself. The service style has changed, and it no longer feels special the way it once did. The presentation, tableside preparation, and thoughtful details used to make dining here unforgettable. Sadly, many of the things that made this place stand out are gone. They no longer offer their famous lobster bisque, and they no longer prepare the Caesar salad or baked potato tableside -- which were honestly some of the main reasons I would come here. The new chef and menu direction are a major disappointment. The crab cake tasted okay, but it used to be amazing, especially with the lemon beurre blanc sauce. Now it is served with what seemed like a squash purée or paste, which did nothing to enhance the flavor of the crab cake. I truly hate writing a negative review for a place I used to love so much, but I feel it needs to be said. Until they bring back the quality, the former chef or style of cooking, and the special touches that made this restaurant so great, I won't be returning. For the price you pay to eat here, you should leave feeling like you're on cloud nine -- not cloud zero.

The Seafood Plateau was incredible with King Crab Legs, Jumbo Prawns, Mussels, Lobster Tail, Ahi Tuna Poke, and Salmon Poke. We also had the Crab Cake, two sizeable patties -- a little bit more flavorful and larger than your typical Crab Cake. The Grilled Broccolini was good, but typical. Lastly, for appetizers, the Crispy Pork Belly was also a hit -- although I did not get a taste as it is smaller and not so much shareable. The pièce de résistance was the Tomahawk Steak. Cooked perfectly medium-rare and served with Chimichurri and Au Poivre sauces on the side. The steak was very flavorful without any sauce, IMO. Served with Grilled Asparagus and Lobster Mac & Cheese. Kelsey provided excellent suggestions and service throughout. The ambiance was nice -- not dressy, but not casual. Resort attire, is what they call it, I think. We will definitely be back!

We had a Saturday night reservation at Friday Station to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted by Tarius, who was a wonderful server throughout the meal. Very casual, humorous, and just a true pleasure to deal with. He was supported by another gentleman whose name I do not recall, but they were right on top of everything - from delivering bread before we asked, bringing multiple sauces for our prime rib and asparagus, and clearing off crumbs in between courses. True professionals. The prime rib was a bit average - I don't know what it is about prime rib, but so often it does show up lukewarm rather than hot. One good thing I can say about the temperature of the food is that the plate itself was heated, which kept the food temp at a minimally acceptable level throughout the meal. The asparagus accompaniment was very well prepared, with not even the stems going to waste. Portions were significant, and we had no room for dessert. One thing I would mention is that on the reservation, they asked what we're celebrating. I shared that this was my celebration of a 31st anniversary with my wife. I wasn't looking for anything complimentary to be offered, simply a congratulations / "thank you for celebrating with us" would have been nice.

Our arrival experience was a little disappointing. When we walked in, we were not greeted and were…read moreinstead asked, "Did you check in?" We explained that we had not checked in yet and that we were early for our reservation. We said we were happy to wait at the bar and asked if they could let us know when our table was ready. We were told, "Oh no, you need to come back at your reservation time." I completely understand that every restaurant has different policies, but the way it was communicated did not sit well with me, and honestly, I almost let that initial interaction affect the rest of our evening. Thankfully, the experience did turn around after we were sat by a window with a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. Our dinner was overall good! I had the Australian lobster tail, which was good, but not spectacular. Smaller than I expected. My husband had the ribeye along with the house salad. The house salad was delicious. The dressing was very light and delicious. He said the steak was a bit over cooked. He also ordered the mushrooms and mentioned they were the best mushrooms he's ever had. I also ordered the lobster bisque, which was rich, creamy, and flavorful. The bread and whipped butter were also tasty. Our waiter James was friendly, attentive, checked on us throughout dinner, and kept our wine topped off. His service made a huge difference in our experience. We had rough start to our evening, but at the end, had a lovely dinner and really enjoyed our meal. The food was great, the view was beautiful, and James provided excellent service. We would definitely come back, and hopefully next time the welcome will match the rest of the experience!
