This school really helped me to understand the in's and outs of bartending without looking like a new bee on the job. Jordan has many ways to help you remember drinks. The first week he trains you and then you practice and the second week you practice some more on your own, so when you are on the job you will be prepared! I signed up for Pacific Bartending School because I thought it would be a great way to make some extra cash. I am so happy that I went to this particular school because the instructor (Dan) was outstanding. Also, the setup was just like a real bar. The price was definitely in my budget. I took the class with my mom and got a 2-for-1 special. It was great for my mom and I to spend time together all while learning tons of drinks, etiquette, and having a blast. Chill guy, has a lot of experience in a variety of enviroments and tries to be helpful in terms of finding a job. He also gives you a lot of really helpful tips in terms of work stuff like tips and even how to deal with drunk customers. You will learn a lot of drinks so its easy to fall behind. Hes very understanding if you need to negotiate the terms of your schooling and works with you to get you going. Can get a little sidetracked at times, but hes very willing to share knowledge and experience. Fun class, work close when he demonstrates and youll do well. I went to Pacific last month in February and I was overall pleased with the class. There were a few days I thought I was not going to attend because I didn't have anyone to watch my son, but I was able to bring him with me and Jordan was super accommodating in letting me bring him, that it brought ease to my mind. Jordan is a very professional man. He made me laugh a lot and I was very pleased with the class. I recommend this class to anyone who is interested and has little to no experience with the pouring aspect of the job. Jordan taught me how to pour and make 12 drinks/shots in under 5 minutes. For $200 (May's deal) and 5 consecutive Saturdays from 11-3pm, the classes gave me a bartending certificate. Everyone gets one! As long as you continue with your classes. There's no test and Jordan is super helpful. He's funny and gives you mnemonics depending on the drinks to help you remember easier. Great class. Fun. Did it with a friend and took advantage of his 2 for 1 special. Notice how other bartending schools don't put their prices on their websites? They make it so they have to contact you and "pitch" to you and try to sign you up like they're car salesmen. Dan was a bartender. The other schools have bartending teachers/salesmen that have never worked in a bar. He owns this school so he has a personal stake in making sure you learn what you're supposed to learn. The schedule is flexible and if you miss a session it's easy to make it up. There are plenty of stations so you're never waiting and watching. He gives plenty of unsupervised time so you can practice on your own which is key. You got to go through the motions over and over to actually learn and you can do that at his school. Plus, you can come back to practice. Also, it's not just about mixing drinks and memorizing the recipes. You also learn the operational procedures of working in a bar like the etiquette between co-workers, being more efficient to serve drinks faster, a way to serve customers when they're 5 deep, changing kegs, etc... I took a two week extensive Bartending course. I personally enjoyed it a lot. I learnt about drinks and liquors that I didn't know existed. Eva ( the person who sets up the appointments) was very accommodating with my schedule. I had to change dates twice and she was very nice about it. Jordan ( the instructor) is a veteran when it comes to bartending. You learn a lot more from his experience than you would in another bartending school. He has created nmenonics for drinks which makes the process of memorization easier. They also had chocolates for students twice, which I think was really sweet. You can learn as much as you'd like. Jordan (the instructor) is very flexible and I missed 2 days of class but he got me caught up based on my schedule. Yes he does take cigarette breaks but welcome to working in bars or night clubs you may be surrounded by this stuff so hey! The classes are broken down into cocktail/mixer types I mean how long can you stand there and make the same 10 drinks?? So getting out of class early was a plus. The course is very hands on and you jump right into it on the first day, no wasting time. The main thing taught is technique, which really really helps at becoming an effective bartender. Jordan is a very experienced bartender and knows what hes talking about, and hes a pretty funny guy too. The only problem I had with the class is that you don't actually spend 3 1/2 hours there, but more like 2 hours. Every day I got out at 4 instead of 5, and I would have liked to got my money's worth.
