Awesome!! The food here is excellent, the atmosphere is great, and the service was perfect. This restaurant just opened a week ago but they run it like they've been open for years. I had the carne asada special it comes with eggs and choice or tortillas. It was phenomenal the marinade they used with the steak was great. My daughter had the silver dollar pancakes and eat everything. And she's a picky eater. My wife had the ham and egg omelet which was great she said the ham was some of the best she's ever had. Found this place on yelp and decided to come here with my family because it had good reviews. Service was great and the food came out fast but the food did not taste good at all. It was very disappointing. I got a Belgian waffle and it was soggy, undercooked, and had a terrible after taste that I took 2 bites and left it alone. The bacon was not fresh, tasted like it was deep fried and left out. Go to a different spot for breakfast! read more

Service was amazing, all the waitresses were super nice! The food was absolutely delicious. We had a group of 5 on a Sunday brunch rush hour, and they seated us within 15 minutes, while everywhere else in town was a 45-60 minute wait. We got quite a variety of meals between the 5 of us: omelette and burgers and tostadas, etc. They were all super good. Being rush hour, the food did take a little while, but not too long to lose a star. Keep it up guys! I will surely return next time I am in town. read more

This place is amazing! My mom and I were coming back from the La Quinta art festival and we wanted just a quick bite. We stumbled upon this place by accident. What a find! They have a wonderful staff from the hostess ,to the waiter and to the owner (I think it was him)- he came out and did a little dance when I told him how much I loved my tostada salad! I haven't had one this good in a Mexican restaurant.We sat outside on the patio and it was great. I heard they have one in Rancho Mirage as well which is closer to my house so I will be trying that one too! Highly recommend!! read more

Crowded Sunday morning- there's only one booth and one table available. The hostess comes over, very lukewarm, no greeting and just, "How many?" and directs us to our table. The restaurant is hot and stifling. We mention this to her and she says she knows and they've just lowered it. She takes our drinks orders and leaves. Over five minutes later, no drinks, and our waiter finally arrives, but the A/C hasn't kicked on The drinks finally arrive as our order is being taken. Our food takes forever. There's probably a plate out there still missing and hasn't arrived yet. Everyone gets their food, but someone in our party has to return their waffle. We all take a taste and it's disgusting. Like they don't put sugar in it. Something was obviously missing. We send it back with the waiter who asks what's wrong with it, but offers no apology. It's now 1:30 and they close at 2pm, so when he asks her if she wants to order something else (not clarifying if it's on the house, so I assume it's not), she declines and sits there without any food. Do restaurants have to offer a free meal because they botched something? Of course not, but it is standard when you mess something up so bad and the table has already had legit complaints. It was a bad experience, the food was just okay, and the customer service was lacking. Don't think we'll be back. read more

Walked in there was a 25 minute wait which i expected since there was a lot of people there. However, the two young ladies at the hostess stand need a lesson on customer service. As we walked in we were not greeted immediately, the hostess looked up at us and walked away. She came back 2 minutes later and ask how many in our party, then another young lady came up and added that there was a 25 minute wait due to the kitchen being so backed up. So I asked if we can have a seat on the patio, and wait outside since there was not enough seating to sit and wait outside in the front of the restaurant. There was 3 empty tables outside and 2 large booths inside, and only two parties of two ahead of us. So, I don't see why we couldn't be accommodated. So we always want to support local business's in our area. We came here last weekend and it was great, loved our food! Banana nut pancakes were awesome! Since I am a retired chef who has worked in a 3 star Michelin star restaurant name Charlie trotters in Chicago and iron chef Jose garces. This day we went in and there were about 4 tables open and the hostess was taking names and she said the kitchen was backed up. I only saw 4 tickets in the window but she said there was a lot more which didn't make sense cause the window could fit probably 15 tickets and I told her breakfast is the easiest meal to make. And then the hostess told me I could go behind the line and help the staff out. I found that extremely unprofessional and mind blowing. I hope it's just a rare occasion. I will change it to 5 stars when we go back and if it's like the first time we went. read more

the food was decent, but the staff were totally unfriendly and rude. waited 40 minutes to be seated outside . when told we were next and the table was being cleaned we were then told to move to the side walk to wait (in the Sun/90 degrees) . we had to ask 2 times for someone to take our order. while waiting, we were impressed, not in a good way, at three parties drinking wine and talking. these parties were seated way before us and ignored the fact that others were waiting for a table to eat. no one came to our table to ask if things were okay. we felt inconsequential. maybe we are to the palms Cafe, so I won't be returning any time soon. Southwest Burger with coleslaw The Ortega chiles add the right amount of flavor. The coleslaw is very nicely shredded and does not have so much mayo or vinegar, just enough of each to be a well-dressed slaw. Not a fan of chipotle mayo, therfore I would remove that for next time read more

Was looking forward to breakfast here. Ordered to go and was given a 30 minute time frame. Arrived right at 30 minutes. Told them I was picking up a to go order and the hostess could not find my order! Asked what the order was and hurried back to the kitchen. I could hear the cook, who was not happy with the hostess. Took about 10 minutes to get the order out and it was missing an item! More time to get that! Got home and the omelettes were mediocre. I was looking for a new, good breakfast spot while visiting Palm Desert. I came across the reviews about The Palms Cafe in La Quinta and decided to give it a try this morning. All I can say is everything we had was excellent! I was torn between trying the pancakes or my favorite, corn beef hash. Our waitress helped me make my decision by reminding me I could have a plain pancake as my side dish. Best pancakes I've ever had! I can only imagine how wonderful the blueberry and banana nut pancakes must be! Corn beef hash was delicious and the Denver omelet my boyfriend has was very good as well. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is plentiful and prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you're given I'm so glad we went. We're looking forward to another great breakfast on Friday!! Efran, the owner, came to our table and asked how everything was. He's as pleasant and caring as his entire staff are. We arrived around 1135am and were seated at the bar. A server took our drink order and were given our drinks, which was iced tea and black coffee. It took awhile for our actual server to take our food order . That should have been our first red flag. I ordered a cup of chicken and rice soup which is the soup of the day. I specifically requested this to be served first. I also ordered the roast beef and ortega sandwich. My husband ordered the steak sandwich. After 20 minutes on waiting for my cup of soup we inquired with the server where the soup was or were they out? It took her awhile to come back with the soup. The bowl was hot to the touch but the soup was lukewarm. I sent the soup back due to it being warm and not hot. There was an excuse given there were only 2 cooks in the back and the manager was off for the day. Our food arrived 15 minutes later. My sandwich was ok but not great. The steak sandwich arrived glistening with grease all over the top bun. It was soggy to the touch. We asked it to be remade. The 2nd sandwich came out great. We have been here before to eat and the food was not this bad. We are going to put this restaruant on our do not return list . They need improvement on quality of food and speed of service. read more

Today's Mother's day breakfast with my kids was perfect because we got here super early and served pretty quickly.
