Cuban spiced chicken panini - soooo good
    Mary K.

I don't know why I waited so long to come here! Came here to grab lunch with a coworker and was not disappointed AT ALL! Located next to Avenue N (its parent company, which I have been to). Parking is limited in the lot but street parking is available. Luckily when we got there, no one else was in line. As we waited for our sanwiches to be made, the line got longer. I knew I wanted to try their black bean salad/salsa after seeing it on their offerings off the website, so I got 1/2 lb of that - just wasn't sure what to get for lunch. I settled on the cuban spiced chicken panini and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! Crusty buttery sourdough, moist chicken breast, smashed avocado, bacon, cheese....I'm sad I no longer have it to eat. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. I had to refrain from eating all of it, so saved half of each of my choices for the next day's lunch. The black bean salad was so fresh tasting - shredded carrots, corn, red onion, red pepper and had a little kick - I NEED to find a recipe to mimic this dish. It's a bit pricier that your usual lunch takeout - I think I paid about $15 for my meal. But it was worth every penny. They have ready to go salads, pizza slices and what not. They also had baked goods, sauces and all sorts of concoctions. Labels read a lot of their things are gluten free, so that's a nice option for those who seek it. Def going to make a visit back here! Be sure to check online as it states their menu may change daily. Nom nom nom.....

    Italian panini

I stopped by today around 4pm for a quick dinner. I have been wanting to try this place since I last dined at Avenue N. It was hard to find because from the street there is no sign. I didn't know if it was in the same building as Avenue N or what because both times I have been in that building (for both Seven Stars bakery and Avenue N, I have never seen it.) Long and behold it is right next door! I got an Italian Panini, a cup of Chicken soup and a bag of chips all to go. I sat outside at one of the tables to take in some of the warm weather while it lasts. The panini was great, full of flavor and just what I was expecting. The soup however, was a total fail. It was so hot as if it was sitting on the stove for hours just boiling away. I never complain about hot soup, however the soup was so overcooked I couldn't eat it. Everything tasted the same, that over boiled taste where everything takes on the same flavor. The chicken was no longer chicken, it had cooked for so long that it was shreds of angel hair like pieces. This is definitely a cute spot, and I hope to be back soon, however bad soup is a deal breaker for me.

    Cuban sandwich!!

If you are looking for a nice lunch spot, this is where it is at. Upon walking in you see this amazing assortment of fresh salads and pizzas and sandwiches. They have lots of local products like the amazing pickles for you to buy to go. The assortment of paninis was so unique, I ended up with the Cuban sandwich which was so tasty. They had a variety of soups and prepared salads (buffalo chicken, kale, quinoa, everything!) The seating is limited but they do have one table that can fit up to 6 people or can split up to smaller tables. Staff was very friendly and will make any adjustments to your order. So whether you want a good sit down lunch or you are looking for some food to go for dinner or lunches, this place is just great! Will be back soon! Please note: you cannot see the sign from the road, just pull into the plaza with the bakery.

    Sopressata Panini
    Jeff M.

Doing a bit of work in the neighborhood, I stopped in for a quick bite of lunch at the Pantry. Let's just say that this job might need an extra site visit or two, right around lunchtime. My sandwich was fantastic. I would have a hard time turning down thinly sliced Sopressata laid upon anything. But toasted into the middle of what was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich, with Gruyere mind you, this was irresistible. The slightly hot and spicy salami was further lifted by the push and pull of sweet and sour, a jam of Balsamic glazed onions and Walnuts. All on perfectly crisp, light fresh white toast. A really great sandwich.

Small lot parking and even smaller restaurant, there are a handful of tables both regular and bar height and a few bar seats. Very cozy and bright and service very friendly. It did take a bit longer than we were expecting for our food to come out. But that 24 hour fermented dough is out of this world - we had the pepperoni, hot honey ricotta pizza and it's hands down one of the best pies I've had - perfect chew on that crispy crust and all of the flavors worked well together. We also ordered the chicken parm and the smoked mozzarella and prosciutto. It would've been helpful if the smoked mozzarella and prosciutto stated on the menu it was a ravioli - the mister enjoyed it but ravioli isn't his first choice for pasta. As for me, my chicken parm was very good BUT I had to get the pizza marinara sauce as the sauce that comes with this dish is bolognese since I can't do red meat. They were very accommodating to give me that option but I don't think it's as flavorful as the mister said his bolognese had a much richer flavor. Drinks were good but strong! Truly, we did enjoy our meals and if for nothing else - I'd order pizzas over and over again from here. Don't sleep on this spot for pizza - it's pretty darn good!

It was a nice chicken breast topped with spinach dip and mozzarella - served with a delicious medley of mush - onions and peppers and mash potatoes. The mash potatoes were definitely homemade. I do wish there was a gravy to top them however really not needed but it would be a great accompaniment. Overall - and I mean it- 4.5 stars !! When we're craving something a little more thoughtful than the standard eggs-and-toast routine, this is where we land. The menu is creative without being over the top, the flavors are usually dialed in, and it consistently feels like brunch with intention. This last visit, however, turned out to be a bit of a mixed bag. We sat at the bar around 1pm, which is our usual move. The service was great. We were welcomed right away and had drinks in front of us in no time. I ordered a draft Blue Moon and my partner went with a glass of wine. Both were cold, fresh, and exactly what they should be. We started with the lemon ricotta donuts. These were delightful. The texture was spot on, tender and light thanks to the ricotta, with that perfect sugar coating. I would have loved a slightly more assertive lemon flavor in the dough itself, but they smartly included thinly sliced lemon rind on top so you could dial it up yourself. A thoughtful touch and a really nice way to begin the meal. My partner ordered the avocado toast for her main and it was as beautiful as it was flavorful. The sourdough had a great chew and structure, the avocado was well seasoned, and the sprinkle of cotija brought just the right salty pop. Bright tomatoes, pickled onions, microgreens, everything worked together. This dish absolutely delivered. I went with the Eggs Benedict Florentine, which I've had before and really enjoyed. Unfortunately, this time it missed the mark in a few areas. First, the poached eggs. The whites were a bit loose in spots and the yolks were slightly overdone. I know poaching can be tricky, it took me a while to master at home, but it was surprising to see the interior more cooked than expected while parts of the white still lacked structure. It was manageable, just not what I've come to expect here. Next was the mustard hollandaise. I was really looking forward to that punch of mustard, especially since I've had it shine before, but this time it felt muted. It was also looser than I prefer in a hollandaise. I love a good hollandaise, even better a béarnaise, and this one just didn't have the richness or body I was hoping for. Then there was the tomato. I understand we're not in peak tomato season, but even so, I can usually find more flavorful options at local markets and grocery stores. It appeared to be a standard beefsteak, and it just didn't bring much to the plate. A Campari or another variety with more natural sweetness and acidity would have elevated the dish and complemented the nicely cooked, flavorful spinach far better. On a positive note, the bolo was excellent. Such a great choice over the traditional English muffin and a perfect fit for a local spot like this. It had great texture and the slight sweetness usually balances the mustard hollandaise perfectly. Overall, Avenue N remains a place we truly enjoy. This visit just didn't quite live up to what we know they're capable of. I'm confident it was an off day, and we'll absolutely be back.

Nothing small about them and the accompanying peanut sauce and pickled vegetables are on point. Meat is "moist" and "tender". Yes... those quotes were necessary. Thai Iced Tea - The drink is a regular order for me at a lot of Thai restaurants. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this one the most because it was not atypically as overly sweet as other restaurants I've been too. Green Curry with Seafood - All ingredients in this dish were on point and fresh. Nothing tasted frozen or out of a can. Seafood was not over cooked and everything tasted clean. Flavors and quantity were all present. The curry had spice and did not disappoint. Kra Pow with Minced Chicken - Again, all the added veggies were fresh and not overly cooked. Vegetables really spoke for themselves. Flavor in the kra pow were solid and had a reasonable level of heat/spice, but not overwhelming. Again, very good portions. Overall, this place was amazing. I was a bit thrown off when they didn't ask how spicy our party wanted our food as with most other Thai restaurants we've been to, but they hit it out of the park. In my honest opinion, it's not the typical American levels of spice, so be forewarned. The level is probably a bit more on the mild side of Thai level heat. Service is very friendly here and prompt.
