My son is in a band and recently played a show at The Paramount in LA, so this was my first time checking the place out. Such a cool spot for live music. The place was lively and had a great atmosphere. They have a nice selection of beers, and there's a pizza spot right next door, which is a huge plus. You can grab some food and take your drinks inside while enjoying the show. I was also really impressed with the sound quality. Everything came through clear and the venue has a great setup for live bands. Between the music, drinks, pizza, and overall vibe, we had a great time. Definitely a cool LA music spot. I'd come back again, especially to catch another live band! read more

The paramount is a small venue that has an attached ny pizza spot that's very tasty. It's great that it has a free parking lot for their patrons The only issue w the parking lot is that it's a few blocks away and there isn't any signage to tell you where to park. But once you find it, it's large, gated, and has a couple attendants watching the cars. You go upstairs and it opens up into a decent sized space. Large enough to hold people and dance, and small enough that you can see the band from every point in the bar. It has a long bar when you enter and looks like they'll take care of you for the night. At the far end of the venue is a little space. I'm not sure if they use that as their green room cuz it wasn't inviting you to come in. Overall, I think it's a decent venue. Not sure if the sound was an issue w the bands' equipment or The Paramount. I'd go back if a fave band of mine is playing. read more

Recently visited to see Rubio in concert. The parking lot is free, clearly marked once you are on Fickett St. Once parked, you walk about a block or so to the venue, takes about 6 minutes or so. I don't recall seeing an elevator so call before hand if you're in a wheel chair or are on crutches, because you have to go up a flight of stairs to get into the venue. Inside, it's cute and definitely looks like an old dance hall from the 1900's. I'd say this was a medium sized venue. The stage wasn't terribly high off the ground. There's a big, beautiful, bar and a disco ball and it has a lot of charm since it's an older venue. Seeing a show here feels less stressful than seeing one in downtown or Hollywood. It's not my favorite venue but it's definitely a good time and more intimate than the downtown venues and free parking is always a plus. read more

The music was great. The facility was horrible. There was only standing room available. They claimed that this would create an unique environment being close to performers. The air conditioning was not working properly and it was pretty hot inside. The main performers did not start until an hour later. The neighborhood is not the safest. There wasn't anybody in charge of the parking place. I will not attend this venue again. read more

I used to attend dances at this venue, The Paramount Ballroom back in the sixties, dances to live bands, right in the middle of ELA back in the day, it was happening!! I had many friends who were in bands at the time, and all of them said the same thing....the stairs were the only way to get in and out !!! lol but we loved the place, and now that i'm a senior, climbing those stairs would be a challange that's for sure!! made some great memories in that place!! read more

Attended the "Carlos y Charlos" event however, the show didn't start at 7 PM. We were in line at 7PM to get into the venue. Once inside its standing room only no big deal, it's not really ADA accessible. The lines were extremely long to get a drink. Venue very hot inside; risking for people to pass out. They should have water stations in a venue like this. Long story short they had a philharmonic band for their opening not bad, but it's 8 o'clock, it's super hot and the main event still has not begun. My husband and I walked out of there at 8:30 and the Banda was still going. The performance was allegedly scheduled from 7-10pm. Will not attend this venue again. read more

Had a really good time here the other night when I came to see Mikel Erentxun perform. It was my first time coming to this venue and I enjoyed it greatly. Not only was this place fairly easy to find but I also really like to see that people attending the show were granted free parking! Just one block away there was a corner lot with workers directing people to parking spots. A big thank you to the venue for making this happen as it definitely saves you the headache of having to find a parking spot. Plus it felt really safe to be able to park somewhere where there is a lot of light and people. After entering the venue, I noticed it was not very big but there was still a really good crowd there. The show sold out and there was still a lot of room in there, which I really liked. Nothing is worse than having to be inside a venue where everyone is crammed in there like sardines. They also have a big bar as you enter the second floor where they do the shows. The stage was also very up and close to the audience. There is pretty much nothing separating the performers from the people watching which I also enjoyed because it allows us to get a better view of the stage and performers. Additionally, the sound was also very good and I could hear everything clearly, from the piano to the backup vocals. Not bad at all ! Also, I'm happy the first show I got to see here was Mikel Erentxun. He played an amazing show and he really shows how he loves what he is doing and takes great pride in his music and work. I hope to come back here soon and see more artists play. read more

Old school since 1924. My friends and I came out to this venue to see Led Zeppelin all female tribute band Zepparella. You have to go through a metal detector to enter and they don't allow in and outs, unless you are going to the pizza joint next door. The interior is beautiful and they have a bar with the usual pricey drinks. read more

Currently here at a sold out show and am contemplating leaving before the headliner. While some of the staff were nice making sure to check in with me as I am a disabled patron overall I have to say this was one of the worst live performances I've ever attended . I have no view of the stage ( their ada solution is literally to just place a chair in the back corner of the room . Moreover the speaker is so loud ...I believe on purpose so they can sell more earbuds to patrons . Can't recommend this venue at all . read more

Came to see Manny Toloroche and Carlos y Charlos. Glad I got my tickets with time as this event was sold out. The venue was small but it wasn't overcrowded which was great. Music was amazing had a great time! Staff at the entrance was friendly my only complaint was that doors were suppose to open at 7pm and didn't open till 7:40. Drinks were ok the tequila variety was not that great. But overall had a great time. Ladies if you were heels be prepared to stand ALL night there is no seating or tables. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cool new venue for intimate shows; the drinks could use some work. We found out that The Darts would be playing here and had to check it out. It's a newly renovated theater in the Boyle Heights area, with the performance space upstairs. We liked the size and configuration, and the bands looked and sounded great. We were surprised to see Drew Carey (yes that Drew Carey) as the DJ between sets, but then again The Darts did have Fred Armisen as a guest drummer at one of their previous gigs, so there's some connection there with the show biz peeps. Anyhoo, they had some themed cocktails that night and i forget the name of the one I got, but it was way too sweet for my taste. Should've stuck with beer. That said, a promising venue, one that we'll probably revisit before too long. read more

First experience at this venue and we saw "Kinky" in concert. End of April show, but it was extremely hot in the upstairs show area. Also, I only noticed one exit from the second floor, which might not be great in case of emergencies. Mostly on street parking in residential neighborhood, but there was one small parking lot a block away, which seemed to fill up quickly. I thought the acoustics for this rock concert were pretty good. They did have a bar upstairs, and I believe I saw one on the first floor as well. The band was over an hour late starting, but I don't know if that was their fault, or the promotional materials from the venue. Overall, we had a good time. read more

I'm reviewing The Paramount as a nightclub, which is in the upstairs area. It had the vibe of a cozy loft with a bar off to one side, a really relaxing patio overlooking the street on the other, with a cool stage planted in the middle. The Paramount gives off cool downtown loft party vibes (yes, there are security guards and a metal detector by the front), but it still gives off the loft party vibe that made the experience more fun and casual than expected. The only negative is parking: there's no lot I saw nearby, so expect to cruise around for a little while before you find a decent spot. read more

I came here with my husband to watch a rock show (Go Betty Go and Audio Karate). We didn't get to check out the downstairs, so this review is solely based on what we experienced upstairs. I'm unsure if there's an elevator to get folks up to the venue who are unable to use the stairs. That's something worth taking the time to inquire about should you plan a visit there. COVID vax cards or a negative COVID test (taken within the last 3 days) are required to enter the space. The space has high ceilings which helped with ventilation. The stage was of moderate size. It seemed like both bands had plenty of space for their instruments and to dance around as they performed. The sound quality was pretty great. I liked that there were security guards posted near the stage so as to keep mosh pits from happening. We're in our late 30s ans early 40s people, somebody is going to break a hip. Calm down! I had a lot of fun and plan on coming back again should there be another band I wish to see read more

I don't ever venture outside of my comfort zone in the OC but after seeing Spaghetti Cumbia and Teenage Bottle Rocket here, I will always come back. Great venue, the staff is extremely friendly. Just returned from my first show at The Paramount and loved it - AC was bumping while it was hot outside, bathrooms were clean, bar was attentive, and the door staff was great. It's rare to find a nice venue for smaller/upcoming acts in a post Live Nation world and The Paramount exceeded expectations. I'll be checking for shows there in the future. read more

I really like this venue, but the last time I attended an event there I asked for a glass of water and was refused - even though a different bar tender had provided me one earlier. The second guy told me I could only purchase bottled water. I understand that the cost of operating an establishment can be high, but given that this venue is located in a working class neighborhood it seems a little backwards and made me sort of sad. Like bro, we're already spending money on drinks and cover charge. Also, I typically drink one glass of water between every drink, and I'll continue drinking alcohol only if this is done. This time I was refused so I did not buy another drink and they lost out on more money that I would have spent on on drinks vs. a bottles of water. Sad. read more

Beautiful space, excellent sound, and all around great spot for live music. Kudos to booking: this recently reopened historic spot is featuring an exciting line-up of artists and events, including plenty of local acts. There's a private parking lot a few blocks away, which is a major bonus. There is also food available to order at the (full) bar, but I didn't try their offerings this time around. Check their schedule and come out for a night on the town in Boyle Heights. read more
