"What did Yelp say?" my coworker nervously asks when I tell her that I'm using a private company to expedite my passport renewal. Good Question... oh wait, no Yelp review! Which brings me here. After doing some research I found The Passport Guys on the internet and I was stoked to see that their offices were here in Philadelphia. I had originally called to see if I could just directly renew my passport through the Philadelphia Passport agency, however after a few automated phone calls I realized it would be a tight squeeze to get an appointment and get everything mailed in time for my trip. It's a slightly nerve-racking thing to do to get your passport renewed through an outside company. Even after calling them to confirm their actual existence. And it doesn't help that their office is in one of those large outdated office building located on what feels like the very edge of center city Philadelphia. However, once I got inside the office I felt at ease. The guy greeted me by name immediately and because I had all my paperwork prepped with me (since their website was so thorough and clear) I was in and out of the office in 5 minutes. It's obviously an expensive service but great if you're in a bind! They also have 24 hour turnover for all of you who are being whisked away by your lover to International Destinations.... I was freaking out because I'm traveling out of the country on Saturday, and my passport expired two months ago. On the advice of friends, I waited until two weeks before traveling to expedite through the Customs House/government. That requires calling and scheduling an appointment.
