The pizza was actually very good. The service here was very good as well. There's only two things I didn't like was that the staff need to be more mindful of fast racers trying to pass and then those racers not moving over or being penalized. The second was there are different speeds the cars are set to "Semi-Pro" and "Pro" and if there is someone under 16 or 18 years old in the race you get put to a slower "Semi-Pro" speed, which isn't as fast or fun for more competitive racers. A couple recommendations for first timers. - Arrive earlier because check in and waivers does take some time especially if there is a line. - $7 annual racing fee you have to pay - Watch the screens for when you race is up. - It's based on lap time not positioning - Please move over if someone faster is bumping you trying to get around - You may be sore the next morning.

I'm sure it would be fun to go watch a modified or pro stock race here if they have them, but I'd skip the Thrill Night if I was planing to go again.

What a fantastic inaugural event! Port Jefferson can really throw a party! You could not ask for…read moresuch perfect weather in a picturesque seaside town, plus the water was warm and with plenty of excited energy in the air. The festivities started with the introductions of the local officials, a monk to bless the fleet and the eye dotting ceremony to "awaken the dragon". Each team had their encampments along the shore with their tents, banners and brightly colored uniforms. From then on, the teams were on the water all day for some intense competition, paddling their butts off. The boats out on the water were a fair distance away and were hard to track, but each boat came back to a rousing round of cheers! The festival would not be complete without some great food from vendors serving some tasty Asian dishes. Potstickers, teriyaki chicken bowls & spicy pork skewers were some of the stolen bites I got from my wife. But I was racing, so I couldn't load up on food or I would've chummed the bay. Entertainment was provided all day by local dance & choral groups, and a lion dance demonstration by a martial arts troop. The highlight was Hsu-nami, a erhu band that rocked the stage! We didn't win a medal, but it was an exhausting and exhilarating day! Can't wait for next year.

I wanted an afternoon out, and Belmont Park was closed, so I decided to take a chance on this place, and it satisfied my needs and exceeded my expectations. I paid $2 to get in, and spent an extra dollar to get my own desk with a lamp and TV, so I could watch any track I wanted. They also have the Tiny Tim Machines for anyone with an OTB account, which is nice. They have a small bar/restaurant. The liquor selection is pretty good, as is the food menu. It's your usual pub fare. I had a turkey club sandwich and it was delicious. Definitely a good portion of turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The bacon was also perfectly cooked, definitely not the rubbery, pre-cooked garbage you might expect. The clientele is what you would expect it to be: Mostly old-timers yelling at a jockey for making a mistake, but frankly, if you expect to go in there and see anything different, you've obviously never been to the track before. You aren't going to see the suits and ties and big hats here. Those people may be shown on TV during every big race, but keep in mind, they are the MINORITY of people that head to the races. It is mostly blue color and retirees trying their luck and hoping for the best. The place was pretty clean for the most part, and I really enjoyed the large TVs on the wall. The only thing I would do here is update the TVs. They are mostly projection/tube TVs. A little updating and this would be a REALLY cool place to hang out. Either way, I'll definitely return.
