The Peanut House staff was knowledgeable about GF preparations and helpful. Our entire order was amazing! Our family tried the spring rolls, Thai fried rice with beef and drunken noodles with shrimp. We came here from a recommendation of a friend. Great mixture of Southeast Asian dishes. I love khao poon and was really looking forward to it but unfortunately, they were out. I ordered the papaya salad, crispy egg rolls and the beef & meatballs pho. The food was delicious. If I lived in Hickory I would order takeout here weekly. It's some of the best Thai I've had and it's so cheap. We ordered the fresh rolls with tofu to start which both my husband and I loved. They were super flavorful. I ordered the red curry soup with tofu (3 stars) and it was incredibly spicy, but still enjoyable. The service was excellent as well. Hot fresh food, custom made to order and wonderfully flavorful and appealing to all the senses. Try the Imperfect Spring Rolls, ugly but absolutely wonderful. This place is not much to look at. Honestly my cousin and I only went in to check out the porsche out front and to "look at the menu." We walked in and saw a Caucasian waitress. We were NOT hopeful for our dining future. I ask the waitress, "is it good?" "Yes, its really good..... my ex-husband runs the place." Ok, that sounds legit. "May I get the yum beef?" Ten minutes passed. Had I know the palate pleasure that awaited me at the end of those 600 hundred seconds it may have tortured my soul. Somewhat like waiting at the alter for the bride who seemingly never appears. So the Yum beef made its grand entrance, it hugged my soul. I travel a good bit and eat really good food at the best restaurants. This food is on par with what i used to eat when spending time with my friends from southeast asia and the flavor is better then the vast majority of fancy restaurants I visit. I'm going to give it another try, because it really is the closet thing to what I was looking for. However, I will not be eating the Yum Beef dish again. It was extremely salty and I kept biting into hard bits that I couldn't tell what in the world it was, but I couldn't finish the dish after that. I filled up on cucumbers and the sticky rice with a glass of tea to wash it down. I also felt a bit ill not long after which gave me a lot of concern. Some part of the sauce didn't taste right, but again it could be a one off thing. I'm willing to try a different dish, but I was left very unimpressed especially for 13$ lunch. My waitress was very nice and pretty prompt for the most part. It wasn't busy and I never got a refill for my tea, but she did give me one to go. The restaurant's name is very misleading, so ignore the "Sushi" part. Other than that, the food is delicious and made to order. Their are some dishes that require extra time to make so if you're familiar, or have a menu on hand, ordering those are worth the wait. The drive thru section is convenient for orders over the phone but its more enjoyable to dine in. The staff is friendly and try their best to make your visit pleasant. They will keep your water stocked and always be around if you feel like adding more food to the table. They also have special, off the menu dishes that are definitely worth coming back and trying. The intestine soup is one of my favorites; just add that with some spicy papaya salad and sticky rice, best lunch/dinner to consistently be had. Another of my favorite is khao poon, it's a little more "fishy" than other places but still really good. So if you are in town and looking for something Thai give this restaurant a go. read more

The food came out mix with papaya salad and the cook said they can't do anything about and if I wanted to order something else and he still have to charge. The cook which they say is suppose to be the owner would not even wave the fee but decided to charge me full amount. I will never eat there again. Authentic Thai food, here. They're pretty heavy on the spice level, so go easy and gauge what you like. They actually do a good job at the food, but only go when you have time to relax, because of the 3 times I've been there - they cook the dishes one at a time. I've ate here back with the old owners, but let me tell u. The new owners and food, I have to say is def better. I LOVE the beef LARB!!! And the laos style papaya is delicious! Also love the pho that my kids get!! And the chicken wings, which we got plain for the kids. The food is fresh, and authentic! The owners are super nice and so helpful with food choices bc my kids are super picky but they were able to accommodate to make it fit for the kids as well.
