Delicious and tasty Laos food for cheap! Every dish was less than $7. We were able to get four meals that were so filling! Next time, I will not get the papaya salad at a spicy level. I took one bite and tears formed in both eyes. It was so spicy. I had to wash it down with lots of water and the cabbage was so refreshing, it helped! Overall, the flavor was great but I will try a mild/medium next time. The egg rolls were great- not my favorite since I love the ones with taro in them. But they were piping hot and freshly made. I loved the flavor of the chicken wings and the sticky rice. It came with a green spicy sauce that paired so well with the rice. It was also fairly spicy but not terrible. The pad that was very good. It was full of meat and flavor. I would give this a 4/5 but would definitely try it again

One of my favorite places to eat, great Thai/Laos food. The grab and go Laos sausage + sticky rice & Jeow is my favorite. The hot wings are also very good (not very hot or spicy but the flavor is very very good). You also can't go wrong with the pork fried rice or the chicken pad Thai! Definitely recommend you check it out!

Their store was interesting since they bought what used to be probably a Hardees. I only got their chicken and sausage with rice and i regretted not getting more of their food. I also got one of their sodas the green apple flavored which went well with my food. I plan to try them again when I'm visiting this area and maybe try their papaya salad or wings. George the croc said chomp chomp out of 3 chomps!

Went to the new restaurant, since they changed for the first time. I got to say their Food is still great. I ordered the Lao Sausages, Chicken Wing, and Pad See Ew. They are all tastes excellent. Especially the Pad See Ew is not too salty, just perfect. The new location is great instead of the food truck, now it has a place for you to sit down to eat.it was clean. The staff was friendly like before. The food value is great, you got a lot for its price. The only thing that is stopping me for 5 stars is the amount of time that I have to wait for the food. I waited almost 45 minutes to get three dishes. They are operating like food truck, which usually takes a long time for orders. But I have faith this will change over time. Also I don't mind waiting for good food.

Holy grail of Laos food. This is a good truck located next to a small, hole in the wall Asian market near the airport. I find that texting for their daily specials is easy. And texting my order for pick up so it's ready for me upon arrival is even better. I've searched high and low for authentic Laos style papaya salad ever since living in Charlotte. My only regret is not trying this place earlier. The Lao style papaya salad is full of padek. It's funky, flavorful, balanced extremely well with all flavors. And the spicy is spicy. I mean I was sucking in air, my lips were on fire. This is not your typical #5 spicy. I eat spicy all the time and crave for spice when eating out. No one will do it like this place. Do not order the spicy if you're not accustomed to eating fire alarm hot food. The Lao sausage and sticky rice is perfect to eat with the papaya salad too. The sausage are slightly sweet and sticky. I always get the chicken larb when they have it too. It's bright and herbaceous while being earthy at the same time. And get this - the food is affordable. It's so hard to not keep ordering because you're just like damn, I can get everything. Lol. Maybe that's just the foodie in me. All I know is that after writing this review, I will be visiting this place today once they open. It's a perfect local spot that does everything right.

I really enjoy Laotian food, so when I found out about this place I was looking forward to trying it. Covid-19: the truck is parked outside V & K Asian Market. You can text the number on the menu photos with your order in advance. They'll let you know what specials are available too. We got Papaya Salad (medium spice), Chicken Larb, Beef Larb, 3 piece Lao Sausage Combo, and Sugar Cane Juice. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of anything. The best thing was the Lao Sausage. The Larb was very dry. The Papaya Salad was ok. I like spicy food and medium was too spicy, so I'd go way below your normal spice level. I've had all of these dishes at other Lao restaurants before and loved them, I just wasn't a big fan here.

Run don't walk if you're looking for some of the best Asian food in all of Charlotte. Located next to the CLT airport. This is a one stop shop for some of the best Asian cuisine you can find. Short on cash? Don't worry as most plates don't cost over $12 and they have smaller size options for anyone who wants to order 2-3 plates. I never leave without a smile on a face. All the guys/gals here are friendly and know their food. It's one of those places you'll find yourself going to 2-3 times a week. My favorites include the grounded chicken over rice and any of their noodle soups

Sausages were good and reminded me of the ones my grandma used to make.

It was great honestly. My first time trying and I texted them my order and it was ready for me when I picked it up. Food was fresh and the salad was amazing. Had left overs and the chicken was juicy.

Foods absolutely incredible. Fresh, tasty and they'll make it 5 star hot!!! The market rocks too, produce is fresh, selection is awesome and the prices are on point. JP LaoFood ToGo thanks and enjoy the weekend!! #coronaculinarytour2020 #eatfire

I've been going here for a couple years now. The food truck location is close to my work right next to the airport. It's right next to the Laos Asian Market. So you can't really sit and eat as this place is a grab and go spot. I usually text my order ahead of time but sometimes there's no response... but that's the only negative experience I've had with this establishment. The menu is very inexpensive with most of their items being $5 or less and the portions are very generous! Their daily specials usually sell out very quick too so call in early if you can! Some of my favorite items to order here are the Nam Khao, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and the Chicken Larb. Sometimes they'll have the mango sticky rice as a dessert special which is one of my favorites!

JP Food to Go is a pretty good find near the Charlotte-Douglas airport! Located next to a Southeast Asian grocery store, it's tucked away so inconspicuously that at first you'd likely pass by without even knowing it was there. We were referred by a friend, and definitely wanted to give it a try. The first thing you should know about JP Food to Go is that its very cheap. I don't think I saw one entree on the menu that was over $5, which is very impressive. We opted for the Laos Sausage combo, the papaya salad, the the hot wings. Papaya Salad -- When ordered spicy, it's very spicy and very good. Definitely a go-to item if you're a fan of papaya salad (if you've never had it before, it's definitely not for everyone). Laos Sausage Combo -- Served with chili paste and sticky rice, these are pretty good. The chili paste doesn't have much flavor, but the sausages are pretty flavorful and well-cooked. I found myself wanting more of them, but for $5, the portion is fair. Hot Wings - I found myself very surprised by both how small the wings are, and how sweet they were. While you would imagine hot wings to have a strong vinegar flavor, that is not the case with these, as they are quite sweet, which is an interesting departure from how hot wings typically are. Overall, I'll be back and will definitely be springing for the Pad Thai and some of the larger entrees on my next visit. I was impressed with the food and would recommend it to scratch that Southeast Asian craving.

    Papaya salad

First of all you cannot beat the prices and the food is good also. The food truck is located near an Asian market near the airport. Make sure you text them to get the daily specials and to place your order. We ordered the papaya salad, khao poon, spring rolls, beef larb and the sugar cane drink. The highlight was the khao poon! A flavorful soup consisting of simmered chicken, spices and a bit of heat. The spring rolls with the peanut dipping sauce and the sugar cane drink were also good. However, the Beef larb and the papaya salad both fell slightly short. They both had great flavors but the larb was a bit dry and the papaya salad was too spicy. I like spicy food but this just a bit too much. This was my second time trying Laotian food and my expectations were not high as it was a food truck but they delivered. I will come back to try other menu options. Great prices and flavors!

The menu is extensive, portions are generous, and this is the kind of place where ordering a variety of dishes and sharing family-style is the way to go. That's exactly what we did. We sampled everything from fresh basil rolls, crispy egg rolls, fried wontons, and other appetizers to curries, noodle dishes, vegetables, duck, chicken, and more. The basil duck was outstanding, the red curry was rich and flavorful, and the ginger chicken was another favorite at our table. Every dish arrived fresh, hot, and beautifully prepared. The cocktails were equally impressive. Colorful, creative, and well-balanced, they paired perfectly with the bold flavors coming out of the kitchen. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with an open-concept kitchen that adds energy and excitement to the dining experience. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient, even on a busy evening. Now for the only downside: the prices. Basil Thai is not inexpensive. Some menu items are priced more like what you'd expect in San Francisco than Charlotte. The portions are generous and the quality is excellent, but be prepared for the bill if you're ordering cocktails, appetizers, and multiple entrées. Parking can also be a little challenging since it's located in a busy Uptown area. Plan on using a nearby parking garage and walking a short distance to the restaurant. That said, if you're looking for a special night out, authentic Thai flavors, generous portions, beautiful cocktails, and a lively atmosphere, Basil Thai is well worth a visit. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Get out there and eat your way through it.

Naturally, I headed straight to Thai Thai Takeout, which has always been one of my comfort-food staples in Charlotte. Well, surprise -- the restaurant recently changed ownership and rolled out an entirely new menu. I was trying to order from my old takeout menu over the phone and quickly realized I was completely out of sync. Thankfully, the woman helping me was incredibly patient and kind while I figured it out. I ended up ordering the Pra Rahm Long Song with tofu, and honestly, it was delicious. It came loaded with steamed spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, napa cabbage, and cabbage covered in a rich peanut sauce that was comforting without feeling too heavy. The tofu soaked up all that flavor beautifully. I also ordered a pineapple red curry with pork at spice level 3. The curry itself was fantastic -- creamy, rich, loaded with pineapple, and really flavorful. I will say the spice level was pretty mild for a "3," so I added my own chilies at home to kick it up a notch. My only critique was the pork, which was a little dry and tough for my liking. I'm pretty particular about proteins and don't really do white meat chicken either, so next time I may try tofu or another option instead. The good news? The portions are generous, everything was packed nicely, and my order was hot and ready exactly when promised -- about 10 to 12 minutes after I called. Parking is easy right in front, and since it's takeout-only, it makes for a super quick and convenient dinner stop. Even though some longtime favorites like the satay seem to be gone, the new menu looks extensive and exciting enough that I'll absolutely be back to eat my way through it. Charlotte, there's a big wide world out there, and this is definitely a place worth adding to your regular rotation.

I'm basing this review on what I have known Thai Thai to be for years. I'm not sure when they changed but it's not good. None of the food is flavorful. It's all bland. Now it's been awhile since I've ordered from here but I live on the other side of town and had planned to order when I came over to this area. I ordered Pad Thai, Pad See Ew Gang Panang Curry and Thai Thai fried rice. I should have known something was up when a new voice answered the phone. She also had a hard time taking my order and the former cashier/owner had my order down pack. Now the new girl did try to make sure everything was right and even called back to confirm the order. Once home and unpacking the order I could tell something was up. Everything was packaged and looked different. Upon sampling all the items I can confirm the the chicken in each of the dishes is super thin and dried out. Kinda tough. The noodle dishes were also dry and don't taste good. The most palatable dish was the curry and that's not saying much. I'm going to do a little research but I'm pretty sure I will not be coming back to Thai Thai in the future and that hurts my heart.
