My husband and I had a gift card here so, we decided to book a couples massage. The lounges are really nice and they provide you with private lockers to keep your things. My husband told her he liked a lot of pressure and according to him, she really listened. He really liked his. Mine was okay. I'm not a big massage person to begin with so, I would go with his opinion over mine. The only reason I didn't give them another star is because with tip it was $200 for a 45 min couples massage. That just seams like a lot of money to me. It wasn't busy at all and setting up an appointment wasn't a problem. I've been here before for a waxing appointment and ended up leaving because the service they described wasn't what they offered. Make sure you are getting what you expect before they start the treatment. The more questions you ask and things you verify, they better the chance of you getting what you expect. read more

I have been to this spa several times for various waxing services and have been very pleased-- until tonight when I realized the esthetician kept reusing a single stick during my entire bikini wax. When I asked why, she commented that the wax is "antimicrobial." Ok, microbes don't grow in wax because there is no water. However, microbes transferred from one client into the wax could possibly be transferred to the next client. That is disgusting. I won't be going back. Update: I spoke to the manager today about my experience. She was very apologetic and explained what happened goes against their procedures. She also refunded me for the service. While I appreciate this, I cannot bring myself to ever trust them again. read more

I rarely write reviews and only write when I have something positive to say. I went for a 75 minute massage today and it was great. My masseuse was Sara (or Sarah) Hart. I had to ask her her name twice because I plan on going back. Sara worked me over and had me relaxed so much I took a little nap during the session. I asked where she studied and learned that she both attended and now instructs at the Baltimore School of Massage. This has been a challenging year for our family, my husband lost his Mother this year. To help us relax I scheduled an couples massage at The Pearl. The massage was very relaxing. The check out staff was horrible, I paid for our service with a $470 gift card and charged the tip to my credit card. A week later I checked my checking account I had been charged the full amount of the massage $486. My husband believes this was fraud, I would like to believe a mistake. I went back to Pearl Spa a year later for a massage and pedicure. They seemed to have upgraded some things in the past year. The massage was one of the best I've ever had (done by Sarah G.) and the pedicure was relaxing and lasted 2 full weeks afterwards. Still not sure its worth the price (hence only 4 stars), but honestly, I haven't been to many spas in the area that ARE worth the price, so this is definitely in the top of the luxury spas. Booked a 45 minute massage on the same day as I was visiting from out of town and had a kink in my shoulders. Very welcoming when you arrive and they usher you right into the changing room. I was giving a large brown robe and matching brown sandals to wear. I was showed the lockers and instructions on how to use it. Then you go into a relaxing room to wait. There is 3 types kid tea and cucumber and lemon water. Relaxing music and waterfall are the soothing sounds you hear. My masseuse was very nice. I was really hoping to get se relief from the pain but she was unable to get the knots out after 45 minutes :( after the massage you are ushered back into the quiet room where you are offered wine mimosas brownie or sparking cider. I opted for more tea and water as I hadn't eaten yet. Everything was very clean and organized. It was more expensive then I would normally spend, but it was nice. read more

As far as spas go this is as nice of a spa as I've been to. If you want to have a day of relaxation I would suggest a place for sure. I'm not giving it five stars because I did not have the best massage I've ever had here, however I think this is one of the best overall facility Id been to. I like to come and hour early for my treatment. They have a relaxation area where you can sit down or lay down and read magazines and drink tea. It's filled with amazing smells and you can relax there as long as you want. The place is spotless I mean it is so clean and it smells even better. As a customer you're treated really well there at least I was every time I've been there. My massage was good but definitely not the best iVe had. After my massage I take advantage of the warm brownie that they give you and I relax for a while more. This place is really pricey. It's worth depends on what you do with it. I think with using the relaxation room before and after it definitely is. read more

Ok experience. Nothing spectacular about this place. I have been to quite a few different spas, and for what they offer, the cost is a bit high. Let me explain. Their locker room is very small w minimal amenities. A small changing area, a couple of showers. That's it. The waiting room area does not have any snacks other than some teas and water, plus it's very small...not very relaxing nor welcoming. And it was packed!! Hardly any place to sit. REALLY?!?! Plus there were ladies that would not be quiet. Hmmm, are they regulars? Because hello. Etiquette???? There were spa's employees that came by but didn't say anything to them. Alrighty then. However, they do serve a yummy warm brownie with a glass of wine...etc at the end which is nice. Their service is not much better than many other places. I probably won't come back. I don't mind paying the price if their amenities are great..but nah...it was just ok. UPDATE: downgraded to 2 stars. When I came here last time, I had purchased a facial for my husband for today. Today, he was running a few minutes late; he called and no issues. But when he was leaving, the lady who did his facial said she wished she had more time to do a little more. My husband asked how long it would've taken her. She said about 5 min. Needless to say, this place had deducted the few minutes he was late from his facial session. Let me remind you, she did not have any appointments after her. He checked. My husband and I are have been to many different spas, and this place is probably the worst. Blue Grotto Experience Over the weekend, my wife and I had time to go to the Blue Grotto. She has been to the Pearl a couple of times before, I had only stepped in to buy gift certificates. As a man in a predominantly female sanctuary, they do little to make you feel welcome. The experience started with me being shown the men's locker room/waiting area by a very informative and nice woman. The locker exceeded some of the finer Country Clubs I have the pleasure of visiting. They provided slippers, robes programmable lockers, combs, brushes, hair products, mouth wash and it goes on. I sat there until called back, this time things a different woman showed both of the Blue Grotto. This woman gave us the quick rundown, the grotto experience needs more instruction than provided. The woman showed us where everything was but the there is more of need to explain the controls for the sauna room and we never did the laser light show to work. As a couple thing to do, it was quite nice to have fun (mud painting) and a sauna/shower with my wife. Then we were led back to the locker room/waiting room. Everything seemed fine to me, Big TV, water and a comfortable chair; then when I left everyone asked me how I enjoyed the brownie and beer/wine. As a newbie, I didn't know and wasn't informed of their services. So if you a male and looking for upscale surroundings, it was up there with some of the best, but if you want service that you are paying for you have to ask for it. read more

I wasn't prepared for this elaborate spa! It is every bit worth the money if you want an "experience", rather than a quick spa service. Some prefer express hotels because they just want a bed to sleep. Others, like me, prefer something like the Hyatt because I want more than just a bed. I want an experience. Fountains of water, an aqua and white color scheme, and a sweet aroma sets the mood in this beautiful spa. Comfortable waiting lounges with refreshments and large screen TVs, make the short wait pleasurable and relaxing. I found the staff to be very accomadating and extremely pleasant. The services rate high in standard with the use of some of the finest products I've experienced. In fact, I ended up purchasing a few. All in all, I was treated wonderful, respectfully, and received complete individual attentiveness. Adjustments were cheerfully made to suit my personal preferences. If you value your time, and privacy, stay away. For Christmas my husband and I got a gift card for a couple's massage at the Pearl. I called to make my appointment. The receptionist was nice, but if you call don't give them your email. I did, assuming it would be used to confirm my appointment. I got the confirmation. I also got 3 emails in five days! Ridiculous! I was never asked if I wanted to be put on an offers list, or given the option to opt out over the phone. I'm sorry, I'm too busy to deal with your spam. I unsubscribed from their email list, but also called and asked that my email address be completely removed from their system. I was told it was. But guess what - 4 months later I am still getting emails! I opted out, and supposedly had my email removed from the system, yet they still manage to get to my inbox! In many cases that's enough to get me to stop patronizing a business, but it gets worse. Oh yes, much worse. As I was changing in the woman's locker room, another woman was in their taking pictures! Yes, taking pictures as people are changing, showering, etc. I threw on my clothes as fast as I could and found an employee to report this to. The employee went to find a manager. When I went to check out, it happened that the manager was the one up front. The other employee came into the lobby and reported what I had seen. The manager did not seem worry, distressed, or concerned at all, to the point that I wondered if this was a common occurrence. The massage was decent, but I've got massages just as good at other places for less money, and much, much less stress. Every employee that I encountered was very courteous and attentive. Christy did my facial and I loved every second of it (Classic Pearl). She wrote down all products used but there was no pressure to buy. She was very knowledgeable. I felt so pampered here, especially when offered a warm chocolate brownie and champagne! A very clean, modern facility. The only thing I did not like was having to walk through the lobby to get to the nail salon. I was a bit uncomfortable with that given that I was in my robe. I've been to a few spas and have not had a massage nearly as good as the once I got here. They are a tad pricey, but the lounge is very cozy and relaxing and you can relax as long as you'd like so that's a plus that they don't rush you out after your massage. I've never had any problems getting an appointment either. However, the couples package (with the Blue Grotto) was expensive as all hell! I had a gift card for The Pearl Spa, so I went for a pedicure in preparation for a wedding I'm going to this weekend. The front desk staff was very nice-took me to the Tranquility Lounge to wait, as I was a little early. I nearly dozed off, it was so relaxing. Several people offered me a drink, a brownie, a warm neck wrap (which was great). Katie did my pedicure. She was absolutely delightful. The pedicure ( the Cosmopearlitan?) was so relaxing, my feet look and feel great. It is a little more expensive than other places, but every penny is worth it. My girlfriends and I did the Blue Grotto and each of us got massages. I felt that it was overpriced considering what we got for our money. The Blue Grotto was overrated and didn't seem to have any effect on my skin. However the deep tissue massage I received was excellent. Last night was my first experience at the Pearl spa. Kirsten was very professional and did a great job. My wife and I got a 45 minute couples massage. We got the last appointment of the evening and worked out great. Sometimes people worry about being the last appointment or the last one before everyone leaves if they're going to be in a rush to have you leave. This place definitely was not even trying to kick us out but wanted to make sure that we were accommodated. I came out of the men's locker room area back to the front of the store and my wife was not ready. They told me I am more than welcome to go back and wait in the lounge area even though they were closed. That was great service and we would definitely recommend this place. We are having the full couples spa treatment with Grotto the next time we come in that we have already scheduled. Great place great experience read more

I like the atmosphere and service at this spa. Yes, it's pricey and some of the ladies aren't as good as others. But once I found the perfect massage therapist and facial I fell in love. This is my FAVORITE spa! I have to say that it is on the expensive side, but the service is exceptional! You will feel pampered here. The facialist being sick was not something that could have been forseen, but they went above and beyond to make me feel special. And I have returned many times since then. Our anniversary spa day was amazing! My husband and I got a couples massage in a couples suite and enjoyed a whirlpool bath with champagne, then relaxed in the couples lounge. Now, the day before I had an appointment at The Red Door Spa on Pentagon Row. $100 for a pedicure ( I had a gift card) , the venue was ok ...but today, I had a facial (just a facial) at the Pearl Spa and all I can say is, I will be returning again! Awesome, excellence in the greeting, the environment and the warm brownie and mimosa at 9 AM .. made my day. The heated Neck Pillows are everything. This was the level of service and style that I expected in what I would consider an upscale spa. Genuinely friendly staff, extremely professional and I loved it. I am getting a Retreat Package and Couples Services as well as a package for my Husband. Oh and did I forget to mention I am a member now -- my honey bought me a membership for valentines day. I made an appt for Tuesday Jan 26 @ 10:30 am. This was supposed to be me my first time here (recommendation from a friend). I live in Glen Burnie, so not a short drive. Since we had the awful snow storm I called on Monday to check & see if they could honor my appt....was kept on hold for 15 mins being told I was in position 1 to speak with someone. I left a message for the reservationist, but no one called back. At the same time, I received automated texts telling me to confirm my appt (twice!!)....which I did. I drove there this morning only to find the spa was closed & this time I received the message that the spa was CLOSED. I'm really disappointed that this has been my first impression of The Pearl Spa & am surprised a place that prides itself on exemplary customer service, would treat their "potential customers" like this. I don't think I'll be going here again. UPDATE: So I received two calls from two different receptionists @ The Pearl Spa, simply asking me to call them to reschedule my missed appt? I was a little taken aback that there was no apology for the serious lack of communication on their part. I decided to call back and let them know of my frustrations, and the conversation went a little bit like this. The receptionist informed me that they had been closed since Fri afternoon, and the closure on Tues was a spur of the minute decision. There was no one actually answering calls on Monday (hence the no call back, but then why did they have an automated system indicating someone would be calling me back?), and the automated text confirmation was just that, automated. Apparently their main form of communication is email, and of course they never had my email on file to tell me that the spa was closed. My question is this.....if email is such a critical component of their communication means, WHY DID NO ONE GET MY EMAIL ADDRESS WHEN I MADE THE APPT?!?!?! It would have been a nice gesture had they offered to give me some sort of discount or free service, but no such gesture was extended. The whole phone conversation basically made me feel like the situation was my fault, and the spa holds no responsibility in the matter. We could have spent the whole weekend here. Everyone was kind and really went out of their way to take care of my husband and I for Valentine's Day. The lounges are fabulous and greet you like a big warm bear hug, with options of tea and infused waters. We had the facials and they were luxurious and relaxing! The chairs are warmed to your desire so you can let them do their magic - highly recommended. And don't get me started on the delicious and lux robes they provide to you! It's like you are wrapped up in your most favorite blanket! Loving all the options that the boutique sells, excellent Birthday, Holidays and celebratory gifts for your beloved friends and family. I was not offered any alcohol. Overall, very relaxing and great massage, but I found it odd that I was singled out at the end for the whereabouts of my robe, like I was going to steal it? Believe me, I don't need to be stealing any bathrobes. lol If they are that concerned about keeping their robes, they should have a checkout process where you turn it in, instead of making you feel like a criminal after yoir first spa experience. I was not told where to put my robe and slippers, but the girl comes whiile I'm changing me and asks me where the robe is. It was really odd, then she gave me a fake smile when I left. Other than that, the staff was very nice and helpful. Not sure if I need to go back there. A girlfriend took me here as a bridal shower present. Jasmine was my masseuse, and she was excellent. I don't have regular massages, but I've had my fair share here in the US and also in Europe and Asia. We had a pre-massage consultation, and she wrote down a few recommendations afterwards. She applied the perfect amount of pressure, and I felt totally relaxed. She is a true professional. I live overseas, but I will definitely seek out Jasmine next time I am in town. A great spa experience! I went for a Swedish massage at the recommendation of a classmate to try and loosen my muscles following a concussion. I was checked in and escorted back to the women's locker room where I was shown to a locker to keep my things in. They gave me shoes and and a bathrobe. After changing I went into the "lounge" area to wait to be called for my service. They had assorted teas and orange & lime infused water options. Very comfortable waiting area with dim lights, soft music and suede lounge chairs. Lauren was my masseuse and she was AMAZING. She recommended adding hot stones to my massage to maximize the effect, and it worked! Afterwards she got me a warm neck wrap, and brought me back to the lounge for a complimentary drink and snack. They have towels and toiletries provided for you to shower with. Great experience I'll definitely be back! read more
