My spouse said a decade ago it was dirty with homeless people everywhere. What I like is there are two completely separate paths for the bikers than for the walkers and joggers. Metered parking is available in the lot behind the beach, or at nearby Marina Green Park. Public outdoor shower stall is available. We also walked the pier, and I was surprised by how long it is - definitely one of the longest piers I've walked on! The views were beautiful the entire way. Located across the street from the beach are 6 pickleball courts (1 permanent, 5 non-permanent courts) where enthusiasts gather every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8a-noon for recreational play. There are no challenge courts; all courts are open play. Simply put your paddle up and wait to be called upon. This is a great place to learn with a various levels of pickleballers. Parking can be found out front, on the street, or across the street at the beach. Fridays are street sweeping days, so be careful! For an optimal experience find Lani and tell them Lance sent you!

I came up with the gondola ride since I had gone on it many years ago & was so happy that they were still around. We booked it at sunset & I actually surprised my husband with a custom-made song of our 20 years together. I wanted it to be a surprise, so I called the company to let them know of my plan and Julia made sure to send the link of the song to my gondolier. We got Jack for our gondolier and let me tell you, he was perfect. He made our night very special and was very informative of the houses and history of the canal. He picked the perfect time to play the song and made the entire experience perfect. I highly recommend this for any special occasion. I definitely want to go back for the holidays to see the lights.

Today the water was nice and clean, but because it is in the bay the water quality can change depending as it's not flowing like a regular beach. The sand is also kinda different and sticky here, I'm sure it's brought in from around the corner, but it just seems kinda different here. Also, it's LB so be prepared to fight for your life for parking depending on the day and time. In all though it's a nice hidden gem. :)

There was a vendor walking around to sell floaties and we ended up getting a raft and the sticks for the raft for our kids. We did try to negotiate on the price but were only able to save a few bucks. I saw lifeguards walking back and forth often and it definitely made me feel safer to have the kids there. If you have young kids, I definitely say this is a great little beach to take your kiddos. Plenty of trash cans around and my kids gotta play with other kids. They didn't have to run super far with their bucket of water to make a sandcastle. Needless to say, we really liked this beach and definitely plan to come back. 2 thumbs up from this mom.
